NJPW star Kota Ibushi Tweeted out today in celebration of his 16th year in professional wrestling, “It’s been 16 years since the professional wrestler debut today on July 1st. I completely forgot. By the way, the fighting debut is also July 1st. I had too much fun for 19 years! !! I think it’s changed a lot in 19 years.”
After a short martial arts career (including winning a shinkarate K-2 tournament in 2003), Ibushi made his pro wrestling debut on July 1, 2004, wrestling for Dramatic Dream Team (DDT), with a loss to Kudo. You can check out that match below:
