Recent viewership estimates for iMPACT Wrestling on Challenge TV in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland are now available. The episode of iMPACT Wrestling that aired on Sunday, July 20, 2014 was estimated to have approximately 161,000 viewers on Challenge TV. An additional 25,000 viewers watched an hour later on Challenge TV +1 bringing the total audience to 186,000 viewers. This figure represents an increase of about 8,000 viewers from the prior week’s episode, which brought in an estimated 178,000 viewers.
The Sunday, July 20, 2014 episode of iMPACT Wrestling was the most viewed program on Challenge TV and the third most viewed program on Challenge TV +1.
Since iMPACT Wrestling began broadcasting on Challenge TV it has consistently been the most viewed program on the channel and the most viewed professional wrestling program in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. In fact, an episode that aired in February 2014 had an audience of 322,000 viewers – the largest professional wrestling television audience in this market since the Attitude Era of the late 1990s. The record viewership in February 2014 followed a prior record set in February 2012 of 321,000 viewers and an episode that aired in August 2013, when the show again broke 300,000 viewers in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
One of the reasons why iMPACT Wrestling has been able to achieve such high levels of viewership success in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland is because WWE opted to negotiate a television deal with the Sky Sports suite of channels which means that WWE programming is on a package that must be paid for by the viewer. When TNA negotiated their television contract in this market, they opted to go with a free channel so that all viewers could watch their product. WWE’s choice to place their programming on a paid channel versus iMPACT Wrestling’s choice to place their programming on a free channel likely has an affect on the total number of viewers watching each of the promotions’ shows. However, iMPACT Wrestling is still the most watched professional wrestling program in the United Kingdom since the late 1990s – a phenomenal accomplishment for the younger, smaller promotion.

To put it into perspective. Challenge TV twitter account has 8,000 followers.
WWE is on Sky Sports, twitter account 2,300,000 followers.
The way some people talk, TNA supposedly has an unfair advantage because no one has heard of Sky Sports & everyone knows Challenge.
Still real to you says
Everyone knows about Sky Sports in the UK they simply ain’t willing to pay £35 ($60) a month to subscribe.
The NFL has multiple live games on Sky Sports every week during the season, not a single game does 100,000 viewers and yet the NFL has sold out 90,000 seat Wembley Stadium numerous times this past few years.

All this good news from Europe still doesn’t change the fact that Vinnie Mac has now in his possession Ireland’s own Prince Devitt… * s i g h *
Joe Vincent says
That’s a shame, But, just like everyone else – I’m sure that Devitt will get sick of the NXT system sooner rather than later and ask for his release.
Vincent Is Valentine says
Thanks for the comforting words, but I doubt it. Like how Sara Del Rey is currently on lock as NXT trainer, I sense the same will be with Prince Devitt and KENTA as a means for the WWE to say that they have all these names and no one else.
Joe Vincent says
I get the impression that Sara Del Rey doesn’t want to be an on-air character for WWE. I saw her at a TNA house show here in New Jersey a few years ago and she was spectacular.

Are you ribbing me?
Joe Vincent says
Nope.

Nice to know. Thanks… now, excuse me while I take a walk down misery lane.
