On yesterday’s latest episode of The Ross Report podcast Hall of Famer Jim Ross offered a few, brief comments on iMPACT Wrestling and several of their current situations. Among the topics touched on by Ross were the “sameness” between TNA’s creative storylines and what is going on in WWE as well as what he would do with the current talent in order to increase ratings. Highlights of the comments from Ross are noted below and I encourage you to download and listen to the entire podcast by clicking here. Enjoy!
TNA iMPACT’s creative sameness as WWE is beyond coincidental and should not be occurring. From overachieving, average-sized, bearded champions to the whole power struggle administration storyline, TNA should focus – in my opinion, just my opinion – on being the alternative to WWE and not even allow themselves to get into the issue of sameness as it relates to creative.
Even though I get taken to task by some on Twitter… I still say that talents like Bubba Dudley or Bully Ray… James Storm, Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode, Abyss, MVP, Gunner, Magnus (the kid from the UK I like), Eric Young (a great overachiever, I like Eric’s work) and all of the ladies of iMPACT and of course Samoa Joe is one of my favorites – and they’re just the people off the top of my head – they’ve got in-ring skills that are underutilized. My suggestion is (nobody’s going to care, but my two cents) turn the damn guys and gals loose. Let them be physical and reality-based; steer the course for 90 days or so and then see what your TV ratings do! I suggest that those numbers will increase.
