Bobby Roode, The Bromans and DJ Z made their way to the ring. Roode said in three days, he would own 10% of TNA. This company will change and will be ran the Roode way. The only thing standing in his way is MVP. Roode was interrupted by Austin Aries. Aries wore the X Division Title to the ring. Aries said Roode may have beaten MVP last week, but its because he helped him. Aries said he wanted a piece of Roode’s ten percent. Roode said they would talk business after they win the match. Aries said he wanted to talk about it now. He said they should split it between them.
Robbie E took the mic and called them the deciding factors at Lockdown. Jessie said they wanted a piece of the pie. Roode said he was the captain of the team and he called the shots. At Lockdown, priority number one is winning the match. Aries said that is something he doesn’t have to worry about. Aries said compared to the rest of the roster, there isn’t a man who could help MVP’s team at Lockdown.
MVP and The Wolves walked to the ring. MVP said he made a bad decision last week when he trusted Aries. MVP said he had to dig deep to come up with another partner. MVP was about to announce his partner when Dixie Carter walked to the ring. Carter said she doesn’t care who his fourth man is. She said she spent all last weekend in New York to secure the victory at Lockdown. She said if he asked anyone who knows her, he will know that she will stop at nothing to keep control of her company. Dixie said unless the man could part the red sea, she could care less. MVP then announced that Jeff Hardy would join them at Lockdown.
Dixie said she suspended Hardy’s TNA contract and refused to switch that. MVP said Hardy would be the partner at Lockdown. MVP mocked Dixie’s accent but pissed of Roode. Eventually a brawl broke out between all seven men.
Reaction: While it will be nice to see Jeff Hardy back in TNA, I am more curious to know what Dixie Carter’s meeting in New York was all about. I really enjoy alot of acts surrounding the Dixie Carter character, so to see her completely written off would not excite me.
Bobby Roode, Robbie E, Austin Aries vs MVP and The Wolves
Six Man Elimination Match
This match is for the advantage at Lockdown. The heels worked Edwards over in their corner. MVP connected with the Drive-By Kick on Robbie E to eliminate him from the match. Edwards went for the Backpack Stunner but Aries caught him with the Corner Dropkick. He followed up with the Brainbuster for Edwards to be eliminated from the match as well.
Aries and Davey Richards faced off in the ring with Richards hitting a Springboard Kick and Aries hitting the Disqus Forearm. MVP and Roode then went at it. A slight distraction from Aries allowed Roode to roll up MVP (with help from the ropes). It was down to Richard, Roode and Aries. Roode and Aries double-teamed Richards for the next few minutes.
Roode threw Richards outside the ring which let Aries hit him with a huge sledgehammer from the top turnbuckle. Davey sent Aries into Roode and then took both down in a cool move. Davey went for the Double Foot Stomp. Roode got out of the ring but ended up being locked into a Single-Leg Crab. Austin Aries came in the ring and attacked Richards with a chair getting himself eliminated. Aries looked to sacrifice himself to injure Davey Richards.
Eddie Edwards came out and checked on his partner as Aries went to the back. Roode wanted to continue this match but the referees and Davey’s teammate checked on him.
Reaction: The story that is being told is that Aries has been responsible for Roode’s recent success. This played into this match where he eliminated himself just to hurt Davey for Roode.
During the break, Davey Richards was being helped by paramedics in the back. Earl Hebner popped up and said he could give them one hour to return to the ring or else they would have to forfeit. The paramedic said it probably won’t happen.
Reaction: Screw the 10-count, we need an 3600-count. I guess it makes sense since Austin Aries attacked Richards.
Backstage, Samuel Shaw talked about how he created something beautiful with Christy Hemme when she slapped him in the face. He said he would create something beautiful in about a minute.
Samuel Shaw entered the ring with new music and a cup in hand. Christy Hemme wasn’t ringside because of Shaw. Mr. Anderson then appeared. Anderson said he regrets to inform them that Christy won’t be ringside because of Shaw. He said he would play the part of Christy tonight. Anderson then made the ring introductions. He introduced Shaw as “Creepy Bastard” and then his opponent, Eric Young.
Samuel Shaw vs Eric Young
Shaw was distracted by Anderson which allowed EY to almost score the win. Young hit the turnbuckle 10-punch. Shaw smiled like he enjoyed the pain. EY continued his momentum with a Belly to Belly Suplex. EY chase Shaw ringside when Shaw threw whatever was in the cup into the eyes of EY. Shaw then threw EY into Anderson. After the match was thrown out, Shaw choked out Anderson at ringside.
Shaw grabbed a mic and said he would go back and claim what’s rightfully his. Christy Hemme was shown backstage worrying about what just happened.
Reaction: While Shaw hasn’t been impressive in the ring, TNA is doing a good job putting over his finisher. He also plays his serial killer character very well.
Davey Richards was in pain. MVP told Davey to hold on tight while he was figuring things out.
MVP was looking for Aries backstage. He called him out for being like he was, saying he didn’t have character.
Dixie Carter was talking about why she missed the show last week when EC3 interrupted. She told him to beat Kurt Angle. EC3 wanted to make sure everything was handled. Dixie said he would never see what she has coming at him.
Samuel Shaw was looking for Christy Hemme backstage.
Samuel continued looking for Christy backstage. He walked into the Women’s locker room where Velvet Sky was. Sky freaked out. Shaw creepily asked where Christy was. She said she was in the makeup room.
Reaction: There is a definite, Shining feeling to this show with Shaw looking for Hemme. He plays the character well.
EC3 headed to the ring. EC3 was pissed about Kurt sucker-punching him last week. They say to never meet your heroes, because they will punch you in the face. EC3 said that Angle fears his submission wrestling. He said Angle had an Ankle Lock but he has…a LEG LOCK. He said he defeated every challenge in his way. He beat Sting and became the new icon in wrestling. He said at Lockdown, when he beats Angle, he will be the new face of American wrestling. He will be dubbed “The American Icon.”
Kurt Angle came out and called EC3 and American Asshole. Kurt said in three days, he would end his short career. Angle said he didn’t want to wait three days though. He rolled in the ring while EC3 retreated to the back. As Angle was walking to the back, EC3 jumped him. He chop-blocked the knee of Angle. He threw Angle in the ring and locked in the Leg Lock once again. Angle writhed in pain as referees tried to pull him off.
Reaction: EC3 rides the fence between comedy and aggressive. He was comedic in his promo but aggressive in his attack. I personally think Angle is on his way out, so he should be putting over the stars of tomorrow until he leaves; I don’t care what the BBQ lovin’ JR says.
MVP gave Davey Richards a pep-talk, sating he believes in him. Richards talked about how MVP offered him advice in Japan. He said his arm hurts but he will make it.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
We got a vignette for “The King of the Night” Kenny King. It took place in Las Vegas and used the quote “When night falls, I rise.”
Reaction: King has a great future in TNA if they can get behind him. The King of the Night gimmick seems fairly interesting. TNA does their vignettes very well. I enjoyed this one.
Gail Kim, Lei’D Tapa and Alpha Female vs Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky and ODB
Alpha Female carried Chris Sabin out on her shoulders to the amusement of Taz. Tapa hit ODB with a big Canadian Backbreaker early on. The heels used their numbers on ODB. All hell broke loose and Sabin walked into the ring and started insulting Velvet, calling her a skank. Velvet slapped Sabin. He charged her but she pulled the rope down.
Alpha Female tried to lock her into the Full Nelson but she dropped down and kicked her in the head. She followed up with her finisher to give their team the victory. Sabin did an over-the-top “WHY?” in the ring.
Reaction: I am just not at all interested in the Knockouts Division. BTW, I will get flack for this but I think the wrestling has taken a major hit over the past year. The quality of wrestling has suffered in favor to the characters/storylines. I am hoping we get some really strong wrestling this Sunday at Lockdown.
Another Willow video aired. He talked about what he could do in seven days.
Samuel Shaw walked into the makeup room where red hair was seen. Shaw said “Christy” but the person turned around and revealed themselves as Mr. Anderson in a wig. He went after Shaw, rubbing lipstick on his face. Anderson told Shaw to leave Christy alone. After he left, Shaw laughed saying he would see them both on Sunday.
Reaction: Even if it was stupid, I laughed at Anderson in the wig. This is such a bizarre show.
Gunner came to the ring and talked about James Storm. Gunner said when he is inside a Steel Cage, alot of dark memories may come back and he may have become a different man. James Storm walked to the ring. Storm talked about their street fight. In three days though, it will be an all-out ass whipping. Gunner said he had something to prove at Lockdown. He challenged James to make their match Last Man Standing.
Storm said he has been the World Champion, something Gunner will never be. Storm told Gunner to pray to his god because he was gonna cut him down. Storm whacked Gunner with the mic. He then followed that up with the Last Call to the side of the head of Gunner.
Reaction: Okay, so this Sunday we will get the first-ever Last Man Standing match inside the Steel Cage. There wasn’t much to this promo but it did tease the match.
Bobby Roode was questioning Brian Hebner wanting to know what the deal was. Elsewhere, Davey Richards was being taped up.
Bobby Roode was in the ring saying it has been an hour. Roode told Brian Hebner to ring the bell and start counting Davey Richards out. Brian Hebner got to 8 before being interrupted by the music of Davey Richards. His shoulder was taped up but he still walked to the ring.
Reaction: Roode should have won there. Why did Hebner stop the count?
Bobby Roode vs Davey Richards
Roode targeted the shoulder, running it into the turnbuckle. The shoulder assault continued for the next few minutes. Richards went for an inverted leg whip on Roode on the apron. On commentary, Mike Tenay spoke about the passing on Billy Robinson and then immediately inserted a plug of Bellator. Meanwhile, Richard connected with a suicide dive on Roode.
Richards hit a series of kicks on Roode. Davey got a nearfall and then locked in the single leg crab on Roode. Roode kicked the shoulder which allowed Roode to pick up the advantage. Roode connected with the Roode Bomb and then locked in the Crossface which forced Richards to to. This gave Team Dixie the advantage. MVP and Eddie Edwards ran in for the save.
Reaction: Seems like TNA is really building up The Wolves. Roode should have gotten the win here. It gives the heels the advantage. Roode is also on a different level than Richards.
Another Tigre Uno vignette aired. He will be facing Manik this Sunday at Lockdown.
Magnus walked in on Dixie. Dixie said she has this whole Lethal Lockdown Match sewn up. Magnus asked about the bigger picture, her World Champion. He asked her what her strategy for his match. She told him to go out and back up his mouth.
Reaction: Magnus’ comment about going out there by himself again but comical. I like that there are issues between Magnus and Dixie. Between this talk of New York, plus the other stuff, I am leaning a little closer to Team Dixie pulling the match on Sunday off.
Samoa Joe walked to the ring. Joe called out Magnus as the paper champion. Magnus came out and told Joe that he should know better. He said Joe should know better than anyone that isn’t true. Magnus talked about how it was in the arena that he yelled “This is England.” He teamed with Joe but Joe turned his back on him. When the spotlight was on him again, Joe wanted to team with him again. Magnus said Joe can’t stand that he is being looked on.
Magnus said Joe was a bad man and a former World Champion. Magnus asked Joe how many times Joe has blown his chance because of his temper. Magnus said he would walk in and out of Lockdown as World Champion. Joe said that everything Magnus said was true. Joe admitted to his rage problem as he wants to shed blood instead of winning. He said that is normally a problem, but at Lockdown, its Joe’s rules. The man who loses is the one who taps out or is knocked out. Joe told Magnus he won’t walk out as champion because he won’t walk out at all.
Magnus attacked Joe but the tide quickly shifted to Joe. Joe locked Magnus in the Coquina Clutch where Magnus tapped out.
Reaction: Good closing segment that played off the background of these two. Joe’s rules definitely favor Joe, and this Sunday, Magnus might be on his own.
