I got to sit in the posh corporate suites at the Garden. The crowd was full, all over the building. A bit surprised as the big NFL game was happening during the PPV, and despite some early-winter bitter cold (combined with a wind, it was horrible standing outside waiting for the doors to the seating area to open).
Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz was really good. Shocking, but yes, the Miz had a really good match. Interesting to see where they go with this.
The Survivor Series five-on-five elimination match had all kinds of good heat. The reaction to each of Roman Reigns’ spears was an inhaled.. “oooo.” The crowd loved it, and Reigns may have made himself a star tonight.
Big E Langston vs. Curtis Axel may have suffered after such a hot match, but it was really disjointed and the fans sat on their hands until the post match cheap pop promo from Big E.
We were expecting a one fall match for the Divas seven-on-seven match, and we audibly groaned when it was announced that it was an elimination. The only one with any real heat is A.J. Lee.
Mark Henry vs. Ryback started with good initial reaction to Henry, but again the fans just didn’t get into it.
John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio: I was surprised at how much offense they gave Del Rio, but the fans just were not buying it It was kind of interesting that the dueling chants had died down by the end of the match (but they returned post match).
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. The Wyatt Family: Surprisingly, other then the “Yes” chants, the fans didn’t get into it that much for the face in peril stuff (other than the smarky “This is Awesome” chant).. It’s a shame as it could’ve used a good Southern style build up of heat from the fans, who just didn’t buy the Wyatts yet as being on the same level to the point that they could actually beat Punk and Bryan.
The main event.. how can I put this politely.. wait, I can’t. It was the drizzling shits. We knew there was going to be shenanigans because A) this is the main event, there’s always shenanigans, and B) Triple H promised no shenanigans, which meant there would be shenanigans. It was just boring marking of time until the shenanigans. Hopefully the punt kick means Orton vs. Big Show is over, and the transfer to Cena vs. Orton seems like it is. The fans are giving Orton go away heat, not the “man I want to see him get beat” type of heel heat.
