Earlier today on Twitter, iMPACT Wrestling confirmed the release of former TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Morgan. The team at iMPACT Wrestling wished Morgan the best in his future. Here is the tweet from iMPACT Wrestling:
Impact Wrestling has released Matt Morgan. We thank him for all his contributions and wish him the best of success in the future.

As big fans of Matt Morgan, we of course wish him the best. I gotta tell you, though… something doesn’t smell right here. This seems like it could just be a long-term ruse, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Dylan Standlea says
If this is real, it’s a really, really dumb move. Matt Morgan is straight up main event material.
Jarrett says
Maybe I’m adding fuel to the fire, but unlike the WWE, TNA doesn’t publicly announce releases on their website with a handful of exceptions. And most of them have been storyline releases if I remember right. Like Kazarian’s 2008 “release” where he lost the passion to wrestle and ended up portraying the Suicide character.
Personally I hope it’s a ruse because Matt Morgan has consistently been one of the most underutilized guys in Impact Wrestling. So close to being a World Champion on several occasions and getting the shaft at the end. No matter where he ends up, I wish him the best and hope he finally becomes a champion.
But at the same time, I don’t know if TNA will want to turn to the same well twice with Morgan leaving after they did it last year with all the rumors about his contract expiring and heading to the WWE..
Joe Vincent says
I don’t know – the entire thing seems like a set up to me. If there was ever a time for WWE to capitalize on picking up Morgan, it would have been last year. Now, he’s much less of a hot property and really hasn’t done anything for a long time. I just see him being brought back into TNA with a much harsher anti-Hogan streak somewhere down the line.
