Hey everyone – what did you think about tonight’s TNA Slammiversary XI 2013 pay-per-view?
We’re interested in hearing your thoughts about tonight’s HUGE Slammiversary XI pay-per-view. Did you go to the show live? If so, how was the atmosphere among the live crowd in Boston? What about pay-per-view event itself – did you order the show on pay-per-view or TNAonDEMAND.com? If so, what was the production value like? Was it worth the money that you paid for it? Let us know! We’re interested in your thoughts!
Though I didn’t watch this show live, I followed along Twitter and some other online sources as the show progressed. I don’t think I’ve ever had my Twitter feed go nuts like it did when Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim had their Last Knockouts Standing Match. I’m very interested in hearing your thoughts on that match if you watched it live!
I also learned a valuable lesson in that I should always stick with my gut when making predictions about Kurt Angle on pay-per-view. You never bet against Angle on pay-per-view! That hurt my performance in the staff predictions, but that’s okay. I’m not entirely sure what it does to advance the storyline of AJ Styles being an army of one if he loses his first major outing since making that declaration. Frankly, this smells like a last minute booking change a la Bobby Roode and TNA Bound for Glory 2011. Then again, I don’t book this stuff – I just opine about it online!
And in the main event, I’m sure there will be some type of clause enacted that says because all of Aces and 8s were needed to take down Sting that he gets some type of rematch or that he can still challenge for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

I agree about the Angle and AJ it doesn’t make sense to have Angle go over. The only reason I picked Angle is I know TNA’s track record with him in these high profile matches. Angle could have survived a loss and not lost a bit of stature, but this to me has the same what the heck feel as Roode losing at Bound for Glory. No matter how that is spun there is no way you can ever convince me that was the correct decision either.

I’m with you 100%. It seems to me like an “old school” decision was made in the back where someone said, “You know, he got nominated for the Hall of Fame tonight – let’s give him the ‘W’ and we’ll build AJ back up around him.” Wasted television time for the Phenomenal One…

I thought it was overall a spectacular show. For me the best match of the night was A. J. Styles and Kurt Angle, although I’m also surprised Angle won, and I’m willing to bet it is indeed because someone thought he shouldn’t lose on the same night that he is inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The Knockouts match was very, very impressive. I didn’t thin Taryn Tarrel had it in her. She and Gail Kim both took some nasty bumps, and it was highly entertaining.
The Gut Check finalist match, however, left a LOT to be desired. It would have been a flop on a weekly edition of Impact, let alone a major PPV. I think Jay Bradley is solid, but Sam Shaw didn’t have what it took to pull off a big match like this. This may not necessarily be his fault, I don’t know–maybe he was pushed into this kind of situation too soon? I have a feeling it was kind of a situation like “okay, guys, this is Slammiversary, go prove yourselves.” I feel like they gave Shaw a lot of rope and he unfortunately hung himself with it.
The main event delivered too, with Sting unexpectedly taking some hard falls. I’ve never seen anyone do what Bully Ray did and cut up the ring, and throw padding outside to expose the hard wood. That was pretty cool.
It didn’t make sense though that no one from TNA came out to help Sting when he was taking on eight guys.
If Aces and 8s can do that, why don’t they just start the match with all 8 guys in the ring and pummel Sting with hammers and chairs? It’s No Holds Barred, it’s not like the referee could DQ them. Right? There should probably have been a stipulation where no one else could have gotten involved.
But, as I said, great, great show.
