In a Twitter update from earlier today, the President of TNA Wrestling Dixie Carter announced that iMPACT Wrestling will be moving back to its original start time of 9:00pm EST. Here is the tweet as it appeared on Twitter:
BIG NEWS! Beginning May 30th, #IMPACTLive moves back to its old time at 9/8C on @SpikeTV! See ya Thursdays at 8/7C until then, though!
— Dixie Carter (@TNADixie) May 8, 2013
This move comes after about a year of the show airing at 8:00pm EST. The 8:00pm EST starting time was not a good move for iMPACT Wrestling as it lost a portion of its late night audience due to the weaker starting time. Stay tuned for more details on this move as they are made available!

I really wish Dixie would have announced if the taping times were going to change because they could always tape a few Xplosion matches before Impact. The only thing about the time change that sucks (in my opinion) is that fans are already worn out by the time the first live show ends, now there’s no way they can get them much buffer time before the next week’s taping starts.

This is an interesting point, Jarrett. I think that they are focusing on the television audience with this move because the ratings for the 8pm – 9pm hour are just miserable. And that’s to be expected because you have a show that is geared towards the adult wrestling fan (as opposed to their G-rated competition) and half of the show is stuck in that “early prime” time period. I think it will work out well, but I hope that this is the last time slot move for the show.
