The Rock suffered this tough injury during his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29 earlier this month in New Jersey. He had told his doctors that “surgery is not an option” since he was getting ready for his next major movie role as Hercules in May; however, it seems he had no choice.
The Rock’s future role with WWE is now under a big question mark, and would depend on the results of his surgery. He was in the very early plans to be at WrestleMania 30 in a one-on-one match with Brock Lesnar, as the two were to appear on RAW after WrestleMania and shoot an angle. WWE had to change plans due to the injury.
