Jarrett’s Thoughts: TNA really (in my opinion) blew the chance to turn Aries heel at Bound for Glory, but in a way it was smart considering the Aces and Eights reveal will more than likely happen there. With that said though, Aries just turned heel, him losing the belt here is pretty ridiculous. I’ve been saying that Hardy doesn’t need the belt for months and he doesn’t. Aries winning clean will really help him get the win that he needs to make himself look like a World Champion instead of just holding the belt. I doubt that Aries will win clean though. But I’ll take a win for Aries anyway he gets it.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Austin Aries retains.
Joe’s Thoughts: Who wins? The guy who organically built his character in iMPACT Wrestling over the last 16 months or the guy who has legions of fans and is always the number one merchandise mover for the company? The businessman in my mind says that Jeff Hardy has to win this match because it would provide a huge boost to the promotion’s bottom line heading into the holiday season. The wrestling fan in me wants to watch Austin Aries fight and claw his way to a victory so he can get the “respect” that he truly does deserve.
Joe’s Prediction: Austin Aries
Mark A.’s Thoughts: The build-up for Hardy has been one of the ultimate triumph, since the match with Sting.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: On one hand, I want Aries to keep the belt. On the other hand, in order for this to turn into a potentially splendid feud, Hardy should win. I wanna see the feud.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
TNA World Tag Team Championship
AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian vs. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. & Hernandez
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Personally, I want to see the #WTTCOTW to win and retain. They really should have retained the belts at Slammiversary considering AJ and Angle only held the belts for less than three weeks. However I see the two losing the belts. I’m picking AJ and Angle because they actually have beef with the World Tag Team Champions of the World, and I don’t want to see the new Mexican America win the belts (despite what Chavo says, his team will be considered a poor mans reunion of LAX until he does something to prove it’s not.)
Jarrett’s Prediction: AJ and Angle win the belts
Joe’s Thoughts: What’s weird about this match is that you have four of the prime time players in TNA/iMPACT Wrestling history plus two big names in Chavo and Hernandez and even with those six fantastic performers, I don’t really care about the outcome of the match. I think about this match in terms of losing. If any of these teams lose, it doesn’t hurt their individual standings in the promotion. For example, at any given time you can have Kurt Angle or AJ Styles jump right back into the singles competition and immediately start competing for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. So I don’t have a good sense of who will win this match because I don’t think it really matters.
Joe’s Prediction: Christopher Daniels & Kazarian
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: AJ and Angle.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: All three of these teams look interesting. I do wish that The Motor City Machine Guns and Generation Me were still around to add to TNA’s tag team division, but for now, I think they’ll do okay. As for the winner of this match, it seems like a toss up to me.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Chavo & SuperMex
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Tara is promising her Hollywood boyfriend at Bound for Glory and I’m curious if he finds his way to this match. Tessmacher doesn’t have the same fire she did as a champion than she did as a challenger and I’d love to see this stretched out as long as it can. There isn’t many heels in the Knockouts Division that Tessmacher hasn’t already faced, and I’m loving Tara’s new character.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Tara becomes the new KO Champion
Joe’s Thoughts: This match should be all Tara as she is easily the bigger personality with the lasting star power. However, Brooke has been impressive lately and you can tell that she’s working hard at being the best woman on iMPACT Wrestling’s roster. In my world, though, trying to be the best doesn’t make you the best. Plus, when you consider Tara’s new “Hollywood” boyfriend storyline, she appears to have a well-deserved push in her future.
Joe’s Prediction: Tara
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Brooke Tessmacher.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: From what I’ve seen, Brooke’s been getting much better as a performer, and she’s easy to look at (but hard to turn away from). They’ll probably let her rock as the face of the Knockouts for a while.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Miss Tessmacher
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This match was thrown together on Impact and was announced right before the main event to actually be for the X Division Championship. I like that finally, after months, Zema Ion has a credible opponent, one that looks like he can win. That’s the problem I’ve had with the X Division Championship since Destination X, and the Television Championship since AJ Styles lost it two years ago: there’s no credible people that fight for it. Samoa Joe and Mister Anderson fighting for the Television Championship gave it credibility, two big names in TNA wanted it. Rob Van Dam gives a similar feel to the X Division Championship. He’s a big name and throwing him in the X Division really gives the whole division a boost. I’m hoping after Bound for Glory, that Jeff Hardy goes there too. Him being a mentor to some of the guys and just his name value helps boost up the Division where it should be. And maybe Hardy can help the next person that cashes the belt in at Destination X look like he can win.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Zema Ion retains
Joe’s Thoughts: So many of the matches tonight pit an established wrestler against a young, up-and-coming wrestler. With most of those matches, however, you can make an argument that the performers are pretty well matched. This one is a little bit different. There’s no way that Rob Van Dam and Zema Ion can compete on this stage without RVD getting the win. Anything other than that would make no sense whatsoever… which is why I’m choosing Zema Ion for the win.
Joe’s Prediction: Zema Ion
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Title will remain for a rematch with Sorensen.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Zema Ion.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Hairspray aside, I’m still a fan of Zema Ion, and I hope his reign continues.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Zema Ion
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This is a match I’m really looking forward too. Magnus is finally getting the chance to not only talk, but show exactly what he’s capable of. Magnus is no doubt a future world champion, and he needs to find his footing. I’m hoping if Magnus wins, we still see the big names in the Television Championship hunt.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Magnus wins the TV Title
Joe’s Thoughts: The winner of this match should be Magnus. I repeat: it should be Magnus. However, this guy has been held back by iMPACT Wrestling for so long that I can’t imagine him getting a meaningful win on the biggest stage of the year.
Joe’s Prediction: Samoa Joe
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Big match, looking forward to this. Got a feeling we’ll see a surprise.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Magnus.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU!
Mark L.’s Prediction: Samoa Joe
Street Fight with Special Enforcer King Mo
Bobby Roode vs. James Storm
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Why in the blue hell is King Mo in this match. It seems like instead of taking this feud between Bobby Roode and James Storm that has been going for a year now and having the grudge match that everyone wants to see, they’re using the match to put the spotlight on King Mo. It makes no sense, and it’s such a simple fix for TNA. When Mike Tyson was the special enforcer at WrestleMania XIV, he had a confrontation with Stone Cold, and putting him in that match made sense. Plus Tyson being involved was something that was a good two-month build. King Mo was thrown into this match two weeks before Bound for Glory and has only had two segments with Roode and Storm on TV. Sting or Hogan makes more sense than Mo because at least they both have history with Bobby Roode. I fully expect for Storm to win this match after a KO punch from King Mo.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Storm wins
Joe’s Thoughts: Here’s the deal… Last year at Bound for Glory, Bobby Roode was screwed out of what would have been the biggest moment in his life on the biggest stage in his company because the folks backstage asked Hulk Hogan his opinion on what to do with the championship match just a day or two before it was scheduled to take place. Last April at Lockdown, James Storm was robbed of the retribution that the fans wanted, the hype promoted, and the storylines led up to because Hogan didn’t believe that the hype around “The Tennessee Cowboy” was going to last and that it was too much too soon (as Hogan himself noted on the Busted Open radio show). So you have two big names and both have been screwed out of big, career-making moments by backstage crap. With that as a base to make this prediction, you could argue that both men deserve to win this match to make up for prior mistakes. But when I think about who needs this win more, it has to be Storm.
Joe’s Prediction: James Storm
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Should be the main event title match.
Mark A.’s Prediction: James Storm.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Unless the special enforcer pulls a heel turn (if he’s not heel already, but usually special enforcers are face, right?), then Storm shall have his revenge.
Mark L.’s Prediction: James Storm
Aces & 8s vs. Sting & Bully Ray
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This is a pretty easy match to predict. Everyone expects Bully Ray to be the leader of Aces and Eights, but I read this online somewhere and it made me wonder. What if Aces and Eights turn over the last card and it’s the Joker? Doubt it will happen, but food for thought anyways.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Aces and Eights win
Joe’s Thoughts: On one side of the ring, you have a group of guys who have no problem with gang warfare and demolishing the competition at any cost. On the other side of the ring, you have the first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame and the best heel main event-caliber wrestler in professional wrestling. This match gives us an odd mix of some different types of wrestling personalities and I hope that they mesh well to give the fans a match to remember.
Joe’s Prediction: Aces & 8s
Mark A.’s Thoughts: ALWAYS side with Sting, but Ray is Aces and Eights’ insider, for me.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Aces and Eights.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: I have no idea if this is the climax or the end… but…
Mark L.’s Prediction: Sting and Bully Ray
Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Unlike King Mo being thrown into the street fight in two weeks, this has been building for months, and it isn’t a bit better. Joey Ryan and his so-called 87 percent song and dance got old after his first appearance on Impact after he was rejected from Gut Check. If this match happened at Hardcore Justice, I think people could care more because people hadn’t gotten sick of Ryan then. The winner of this match is pretty predictable considering the stipulation (If Ryan wins, he gets a contract), but honestly this is one match that I hope that I’m wrong on.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Joey Ryan wins a contract, yawn.
Joe’s Thoughts: What Joey Ryan has in charisma and budding wrestling skills, he sorely lacks in his character. An old school porn star that wants everyone to “Legalize Sleaze?” Really? This is the big leagues, buddy. That silly crap isn’t going to work. Storyline-wise, Al Snow is employed by TNA and Joey Ryan is, technically, not. So the winner of this match should be Snow with no questions asked. However, I can’t see what Snow going over does for the future of the business.
Joe’s Prediction: Joey Ryan
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Joey Ryan
Mark L.’s Thoughts: What does everybody want? HEAD! That said, I think Joey Ryan’s gonna cheat to win. Wouldn’t be surprised if Head is used against Al.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Joey Ryan.
