Opening Segment
After the recap of last week’s Open Fight Night, we are live inside the Impact Zone for the Championship Thursday edition of Impact Wrestling!
It is announced that Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries, opponents at Bound for Glory will team up tonight before Hulk Hogan makes his entrance with the baseball bat to a loud ovation. Taz makes a few jokes about Hogan and the bat after Hogan finishes his air guitar number with it. Hogan tells Aces and Eights that they have a date. Did he get stood up? Hogan asks the crowd to watch his back and says that this episode of Impact Wrestling is a turning point and Bound for Glory is three weeks away. Hogan reminds everyone that this is Championship Thursday, and the championship that will be decided tonight is the Television Championship, and Devon was a great champion, but negotiations stalled and he had to do what was best and decide a new championship. Hogan announces Samoa Joe, Magnus, Garrett Bischoff, and Mister Anderson as the three people he’s choosing from tonight. Hogan tells everyone that the Storm and Roode debacle has gotten so out of hand, that the referee’s have thrown their hands up, so he’s making a street fight for Bound for Glory and MMA Champion King Mo will be the special enforcer, which unlike everything else Hogan has said so far, the last announcement gets a polite applause. Hogan takes the time to recount everything that has happened so far with Aces and Eights and says he’s goint to the club house tonight, even if he’s going all alone. And with that, TNA Hall of Fame inductee Sting comes out to interrupt with a better reaction than Hogan did! Hogan jokes that he just borrowed his bat and Sting said “my bat is your bat.” Sting says the whole mess started with him and tonight he has back and Hogan tells him to get another bat. Hogan plays to the crowd and Sting walks up the ramp. ((Jarrett’s Jab – GREAT segment, I didn’t see Sting coming, and the crowd didn’t either. The Stinger and the Hulkster visiting the Clubhouse sounds like a bad WCW mini-movie but could be really fun to watch. My only complaint is why Hogan let Sting go all the way up the ramp before he started to follow.))

Mister Anderson says that his most memorable Bound for Glory Moment was 2010, when he was in the triple threat match for the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Speaking of Triple Threat’s a graphic for the Triple Threat Tag Team Title match between
Kurt Angle (with AJ Styles) vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. (with Hernandez) vs. Christopher Daniels (with Kazarian)
Daniels had something around his tights for his belt (the belt looked like it was hanging in his gear, but wasn’t) and simulated humping better than MNM ever did. Daniels tries to hang out on the apron, but Chavo and Kurt want to bring him in the party by tossing him in the ring and take stomping on him in the corner. Angle misses a charge and rams his shoulder into the ringpost. Chavo quickly nails Daniels with a clothesline, but Kazarian grabs his ankle on the floor. Chavo and AJ yell at each other on the outside, and it ends up bringing Angle and Kazarian to the scene. The four rush in the ring and stare down the World Tag Team Champions of the World before we head to a break

We are back on Impact Wrestling, and Daniels has an arm bar on Kurt Angle as we get a replay of referee Brian Stiffler throwing out AJ Styles, Kazarian and Hernandez during the commercial break. Angle fights out and hits a german suplex on Chavo. Angle goes for the Angle Slam, and Chavo reverses and clothslines Kurt over the top rope. Chavo connects with a flying headscissors on Daniels and a dropkick followed by a rolling senton gets two when Angle breaks up the pinfall. Angle nails an overhead release suplex on Chavo and then he hits the Angle Slam on Daniels. The straps come down and he gets Daniels in the anklelock, but Chavo sneaks in and rolls Kurt up for two. Angle and Chavo go toe-to-toe, Daniels knocks Angle out to the floor, but Chavo steals hits the three amigos and goes up top for the Frogspash. Angle gets the anklelock on Daniels as Chavo goes to the top, Daniels rolls through and sends Angle crashing into the corner, knocking Chavo off the top. Chavo gets into it with Angle, but Daniels rams both of them into the corner and rolls Chavo up for the win.

Hulk Hogan has the TV Title contenders in his office and says he didn’t want things to go down this way with Devon, but they did and he needs a new champion. Garett says he’s been kicking his ass trying to prove himself around here, and Devon saw something in him. Hogan said that Devon did see something in him, but he needed to see that too. Magnus asks if Garett qualifies because he was Devon’s partner and now Devon’s gone so he qualifies. Joe yells at Magnus, and says none of them belongs in the same ring as him. Magnus puts over his experience in the US, Europe, Japan, and India, and Joe says he could be the champion in Malaysia too, but Magnus says he’s well represented all over the world. Hogan says the choice is easy, and he needs to separate Joe and Magnus, so Magnus is.
Speaking of Hogan’s, Brooke Hogan walks up to Tara and asks if she remembers when she told her that there would be consequences this week. Tara tells Brooke to hold on for a moment while she takes a phone call from her boyfriend, who she calls Boo, then gets off the phone for about ten seconds before calling Boo two back to complain about Brooke not respecting her. Brooke takes the phone out of Tara’s hand, tells Boo that that Tara’s match is up next, then confiscates the phone and walks off while Tara tries to find out who her opponent will be. ((Jarrett’s Jab – How in the Blue Hell did any of that TV Title segment that make any sense? It seems like Garett should have been eliminated because he’s not experienced, Hogan didn’t see anything in him, and he hasn’t been on TV in ages. Magnus is a guy who could really use the Television Championship.))

#1 Contenders Match: Tara vs. ODB (with Eric Young)
Young ties up with Taryn Terrell, does a cartwheel, and ties up with her again. ODB and Young kiss and Terell has to tell Eric to leave the ring. ODB grabs Tara by her hair and pulls her in the ring. ODB uses the hair to whip her twice and Tessmacher repremands her. EY gets on the apron and extends his hadn, but drops down when ODB and Tara leave the ring. Tara slides in, but ODB hits a clothsline. EY gets back on the apron and extends his hand while ODB positions Tara and connects with the Bronco Buster. EY gets in the corner and wants one himself, but ODB tells him to leave. Tara catches her breath on the outside as Taryn counts. EY tells Tara that ODB is his wife and ODB hits a baseball side on Tara and then slams her head against the apron. Tara back s up when ODB slides in and begs mercy and a handshake. Taryn makes ODB abck up and ODB grabs Tara by her hair and nails the fallaway slam. ODB kips-up and kicks Tara making her fall out of the ring backwatds. Tara holds the knee she tore her ACL in a few years ago and has a brace on. Tara tries to use EY to pick herself up. EY tells ODB that his pants are still on, which gets a big laugh from the crowd. Tara slides in the ring and takes the knee brace off and still heavily favors the right knee. Taryn forces ODB to stay away and when ODB comes toward, she rolls her up and puts her foot on the rope for the win.

Backstage, Al Snow and Bruce Prichard are in the Gut Check office and Prichard scolds Snow for being unprofessional and causing the company to have to deal with lawsuits it shouldn’t have to. Prichard asks Snow if he wants to be an executive or a wrestler. Thankfully for Snow, Taz walks in and the three finally talk about Evan Markopouls. The three agree that he looked good and have passion, but is only 18 and ask if he can handle the business.
A camera man catches up with Bully Ray and asks who his partner is going to be. Ray asked him if he remembered what he said before: Never bother him while he’s on his “fire breathing twittah machine.” He says that he would look great with the TNA World Title over his head and said to not follow him, but they can shoot his calves if they want.
Hulk Hogan is backstage with Garett Bischoff, Ken Anderson, and Samoa Joe. Hogan asks Garett if he can hang with Anderson and Ken laughs at him before telling him if he’s so tough to take him on now. Hogan tells Garett that he’s been on a roll, but it’s not his time. Garrett gives Hogan a dirty look and the TV Title is up for grabs…NEXT!

Bobby Roode walks up to the World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries and says that the two of them share mutual respect and Roode respects Aries enough to tell him that he’s teaming with Bully Ray to face him and Jeff Hardy tonight. Roode informs Aries that he has a vested interest in his match with Hardy at Bound for Glory because Roode can’t get a shot as long as he’s champion. Roode tells Aries that he hopes he loses, but he’s beaten Hardy every time they have faced off, but he’s never beaten Aries. He tells Aries that in his mind that makes Aries the better wrestler before walking off.
Match for the Vacant Television Championship: Samoa Joe vs. Mr. Anderson
The two start the match with a slug fest and Samoa Joe shrugs off a Mic Check attempt and Anderson fights out of the Rear Naked Choke. Joe backs Anderson up to the corner and nails some right hands before an irish whip and a kick in the corner. Joe covers and only gets two. Anderson start connecting with rights before Joe just runs over him. Joe hits a kick to the head and another to the back and picks him up for a slap to the back. Joe misses the kick and Anderson tries a roll-up for two. Swinging neck breaker by Anderson gains him two before he starts nailing some mounted punches on the Samoan Submission Machine. Anderson charges in the corner, but Anderson hits him with the shoulder. Joe goes up top and Anderson tries the Anderson roll, but Joe counters with the choke. Anderson fights out and this time hit the Anderson roll. Joe uses his weight to shift the pinfall and gets two. Headbutt by Joe and Anderson nails a clothesline. Joe cinches in the choke as the crowd start chanting “Let’s go Asshole!” Anderson almost reaches the ropes and Joe rolls around the ring with the choke still applied. Taz notes how long that Anderson has been locked in and Anderson looks completely out of it. The ref calls the match.
Winner by Submission and NEW Television Champion: Samoa Joe
With that win, not only is Samoa Joe the new Television Champion, but he is also the third Grand Slam winner in TNA history, the first two being AJ Styles and Abyss. A replay of Anderson passing out to the Coquina Clutch is played and Tenay hypes the contest for front row tickets for Bound for Glory by Direct Auto Insurance. Hogan tells Sting that he will be the peace maker and Sting will be the bad cop. A woman tells Hogan that Bruce Prichard has some documents he needs to sign and as he signs them, the woman pepper sprays them and Aces and Eights put bags over their head and put them in a van.
((Jarrett’s Jab – I had a bad feeling that this was going to be a redo of two years ago when Dixie Carter was tricked into signing TNA over to Hogan. Thankfully it wasn’t, but it still could be. That Television Championship match was great and hopefully the title will not only help Joe, but the title will be brought to relevance in a way it hasn’t since AJ Styles held the belt.))

Gut Check time and Evan Markopoulos is asked if he’s given his best effort and he answer’s no because he lost, but he REALLY wants this. Taz says yes, Prichard says no, and Markopoulos is given one last chance, called a ‘Kickout’ apparently to plead his case with Al Snow, and he says that he was born in 1994 when Snow was trying to get into Smoky Mountain Wrestling and ECW, and Snow wasn’t 18 at that time, but he is and even though he got his ass kicked last week, he’ll keep coming back to get his ass kicked because this is what he wants. Snow says that Markopoulos is the epitome of what the Gut Check is about, because he’s seen big guys and talented guys come down the pike, but they didn’t succeed because they didn’t have passion for the business. Markopoulos has the passion, he has the desire, and he has the talent…but he’s only 18, and now isn’t the right time. Evan shakes the hands of all three judges and walks off.
We just got some footage from Aces & Eights, and it’s of Hogan and Sting being brought into the A&E clubhouse where the Vice President removes the hoods that were placed over their heads, and says they’d better get comfortable, the boss man is coming.

The President of Aces & Eights comes in and sits down with his back to Hogan and Sting (since they’re tied up and all), and he brings out Joseph Park, who is also tied up to a table as a member of the gang holds a blowtorch on him. The President says if Hogan wants Park back, to pick two of his best guys to face two members of Aces & Eights. If Hogan’s guys win, Aces & Eights will leave forever, but if Aces & Eights wins, they get free access to the Impact Zone. Hogan says he and Sting will fight them, but the President says that for the first time in Hogan’s adult life, it’s not about him because he’ll have to stand to the side and watch. Hogan agrees and says he’ll pick two guys, but only if they let Joseph Park go. The President says that’s not going to happen, he knows what a chess player Hogan is, so he’s going to hold onto Park as insurance and he’ll go free after the match.

We get a replay of the Aces and Eights’ challenge and Taz and Tenay reminds everyone of the stipulations before going over the four announced matches announced for Bound for Glory: Austin Aries defends the World Title against Jeff Hardy, the Street Fight between James Storm and Bobby Roode (with King Mo acting as the special enforcer), Tara tries to dethrone her former protégé and Knockouts Champion Brooke Tessmacher, and the World Tag Team Champions of the world try to fight off Kurt Angle and AJ Styles and the team of Chavo and Hernandez.
We go backstage to James Storm, who says that it’s about time Hogan put him in the ring with Bobby Roode, and it’s great that King Mo wants to make a name for himself in Impact Wrestling, but all he needs to do is stand by and watch him kick Roode’s teeth down his throat.
Bobby Roode and Bully Ray vs. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy
Ray and Hardy start the match off and Ray nails right hands and elbows to Hardy. Hardy hits an armdrag and Ray is shocked himself. Hardy tags Aries in, and the two jar off and Ray tags in Bobby Roode. The tie up and Aries hits ardrags to both Roode and Ray. Aries relaxes on the top rope and Hardy clotheslines both Roode and Bully Ray. Hardy and Aries poses as we take a commercial break.

Hardy is tagged in and hits a splash for two on Bobby Roode. Oh look! Another commercial break!
-Commercial Break-
Back again, hopefully for just one wrestling move, as Hardy hits right hands to the abs of Bully Ray. Hardy goes up top and Roode catches the foot, turning Hardy inside out. Bully Ray gets a two count and tags Bobby Roode in. Roode hits a knee drop and gets a two count. Straight Right hand to the skull of Hardy by Roode as the crowd starts clapping for Hardy. Jawbreaker by Hardy and a Twist of Fate Stunner and Aries gets the crowd on their feet. Tenay reminds everyone that Kurt Angle will be a guest on MMA Uncensored tonight and Aries and Ray are both tagged in. Roode kicks Aries in the back and Aries knocks him off the apron. That causes Bully Ray to nail Aries with a knee, knocking him out of the ring. Off camera, Roode sends Aries into the steel steps. Ray talks trash while we get a replay of Aries getting thrown into the steel steps. Roode is tagged in and Aries is nailed with a backbreaker. Knees to the back by Roode and Aries is trying to fight his way out of the corner. Ray is tagged in and connects with a double sledge to the lower back and a big splash for two. Bear hug in the center of the ring by Ray and Hardy bangs on the turnbuckle, getting the crowd clapping again and Aries claps his hands against the ears of Bully Ray, breaking the bear hug. Aries almost makes the tag but Roode is tagged in and Aries subdues Hardy. Aries teases the tag again, but knocks Ray off the apron and cinches in the Last Chancery on Roode. Ray breaks it up and rakes the eyes of Hardy. Ray goes for a big clothsline and Aries ducks, so Roode gets nailed with it. Irish whipping Ray in one corner and Roode in the other, Roode nails both of them with the IED. Aries teases the tag and hits the Brainbuster on Roode and Hardy tags himself in and hits the Swanton for the win.
Winners by Pinfall: Jeff Hardy and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries.
The two argue in the ring and out to the parking lot where Aces & Eights returns Sting and Hogan to the Impact Zone. Aces & Eights holds a knife on them until they escape, and Hogan tells Sting to relax because they still have “Parks”, but Sting is irate and yells after Aces & Eights that he’s finding someone and he’s coming to Bound For Glory. ((Jarrett’s Jab – WAY too much Hulk Hogan on this show. Austin Aries got less time than he did. At least now they have a Bound for Glory match with Aces and Eights that makes sense at least. Hardy seemed more like a heel did than Aries with the tag at the end and taking all the glory. New TV Champion and hopefully that means more spotlight for Samoa Joe, and the match between James Storm and Bobby Roode finally set.
