TNA Xplosion Results (9/13): Robbie E vs. AJ Styles

Robbie E vs. AJ Styles.

After a hiatus, we’re back with another Xplosion report, and this time it’s the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles taking on Robbie E, who is, as always, accompanied by Robbie T.

AJ goes straight to the arm of Robbie, locking on an arm bar, while Robbie squirms his way to the ropes to break it. AJ takes a brief warning from the referee Earl Hebner while Robbie T gives advice to Robbie E. Small package as he turns around, but only a one count. School boy as the two get up from AJ, and another one count. Body scissors into a pin gets a two count and Robbie E dashes off to the corner for refuge.

Robbie psyches AJ out with a tie up, kicking his midsection as AJ comes in. He then locks on a side headlock. Aj gets Robbie off the ropes, leapfrog, low down and a drop kick on the return. Robbie staggers into the corner. AJ rushes in, but Robbie powers AJ over the top rope. AJ just about holds on, and drills Robbie into the other turnbuckle on his apron side. AJ looks to a springboard but Robbie T holds his foot, which allows Robbie E to clothesline AJ to the apron hard as we go to the break.

Commercial Break.

AJ fighting out of another headlock is shot into the corner by Robbie E, but manages a reversal. AJ comes in, but Robbie gets a foot up. Robbie E floats out of a grapple from AJ, spinning AJ out to the floor to be dealt with by Robbie T, who chokes AJ up against the apron. He quickly slips him back inside the ring for Robbie E to make a cover, but only a one count from it all.

AJ back up with the fans behind him. He’s shot off to the corner, but comes out with the upper hand. Chops to the chest of Robbie E, but Robbie manages to throw AJ out of the ring and to the floor on the entrance side. Robbie T again takes advantage and with an almighty thud, sends AJ into the apron. He again slides AJ into the ring and Robbie E makes the cover, this time getting a two count.

Knee drop from the middle rope on AJ, and a quick cover, but only a two count, and barely that. Robbie getting frustrated with Hebner’s counts. AJ mounts a comeback again with elbows and chops with the fans behind him again. AJ with momentum runs into Robbie, who throws him over the top rope, but only to the apron. Robbie pumps the fist to the camera, completely unaware that AJ is setting up for a springboard, which he completes on Robbie’s turning around, and a high flying forearm from AJ. AJ sets up for s Styles Clash, but Robbie T is quickly up on the apron to distract AJ. AJ enziguri-kicks Robbie T down, but this opens the door to a bridging Northern Lights Suplex. Only a two from the bridging pin though.

Lariat attempt from Robbie is missed, leading to the Pelé kick from AJ. Styles Clash is next, and it’s goodnight Jersey as AJ gets the win.

Winner: AJ Styles via Pinfall.
