Jarrett’s Thoughts: If there was ever a handicapped match that has so much potential, it’s this match. Let’s be realistic, Kurt’s injured and if Kurt is in the ring for a minute as the legal man, I will be shocked. I don’t see Angle and Styles winning the belts because Kurt is Injured, and I see The World Tag Team Champions of the World (Sounds redundant right?) losing the belts to the newest version of Mexican America (Chavo and Hernandez.)
Jarrett’s Prediction: Daniels and Kazarian retain.
Joe’s Thoughts: Payback’s a bitch and both Daniels and Kazarian have a huge heaping of payback coming their way. We all suffered through the horrible Claire Lynch crap and now I think we’ll get our payoff – AJ Styles wearing a championship belt again.
Joe’s Prediction: AJ Styles & Kurt Angle
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Thank the Lord Claire Lynch is gone.
Mark A.’s Prediction: AJ Styles & Kurt Angle.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I wish that TNA could manage time better, this is match I would have loved to hear about last week. The Original Playa from the Himalaya is a great athlete this will be a good match. I do wish that Dakota Darsow was in the match. Although Sonjay has a beef with Ion when he sprayed the hairspray in his eyes at Destination X, I’m sure a lot of fans didn’t even remember that. It’s not Ion or Dutt’s fault, the X Division took a nose dive off the radar after Hardcore Justice. People do remember Jesse Sorensen and Darsow wanting revenge for his friend (his reasoning for wanting the title shot against him at last month’s Open Fight Night) would be a good storyline down the road. Especially (and I really hate to type this) if Sorensen can’t come back.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Ion retains
Joe’s Thoughts: I have to admit, I didn’t realize this match was taking place. I didn’t realize it because I don’t think Zema Ion has been well-used since winning the belt and I thought that Sonjay Dutt was still out of commission with an injury. Since I can’t really remember much buildup for this match, I have to go with the status quo.
Joe’s Prediction: Zema Ion
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Sonjay Dutt.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I like the idea of the Open Fight Night challenge actually leading to a match that has a reason to take place beside the GM said so. I think it’s a lost art in wrestling (particularly women’s wrestling,) where there is a match based out of who’s better, without some heel turn or something coming out of left field.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Tessmacher retains
Joe’s Thoughts: This is an interesting situation because clearly Tara should be the winner of the match. She’s better in the ring, more talented overall, and can wrestle with the best women wrestlers in the world. However, she did beat Brooke during iMPACT Wrestling a few weeks ago, so I think Brooke is going to win tonight… by any means necessary.
Joe’s Prediction: Brooke Tessmacher
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Brooke Tessmacher.
Bound for Glory Semifinal
James Storm vs. Bully Ray
Jarrett’s Thoughts: James Storm has been groomed to win the Bound for Glory Series winner since it started back in July. Then came Austin Aries. The current World Heavyweight Champion A Double keeping the belt really does something that should have been done since the beginning: make the tournament interesting. Sure Storm could win this match, but I will go on a limb and say that a heel will win this series. It only make sense. This may just be a pipedream by my part, but I’m going with the man that I want to see win this series and become the next TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Bully Ray squeaks out the victory
Joe’s Thoughts: James Storm is on fire and Bully Ray just signed a new contract. In my opinion, both of these men are being properly booked by the team at iMPACT Wrestling and this is a good, solid match. With all of the momentum on Storm on his comeback and his meteoric rise up the Bound for Glory Series, I have to go with him for the win.
Joe’s Prediction: James Storm
Mark A.’s Thoughts: James Storm.
Mark A.’s Prediction:
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This will be a rematch from Impact this week, and I’d say it’d be a good match. I’m really tempted to pick Hardy winning through Magnus interfering, but Hardy needs more than just three points to advance. And Ray and RVD sounds more interesting than Joe and Ray.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy wins
Joe’s Thoughts: Who do you go with here? Samoa Joe – an incredible wrestler with a stale, angry Samoan gimmick or Jeff Hardy – an incredible wrestler who moves a ton of product for the company? Well, after this past week’s episode of iMPACT Wrestling, I think they’re going to give the nod to Samoa Joe – only to have him lose to James Storm later tonight.
Joe’s Prediction: Samoa Joe
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Samoa Joe
Austin Aries vs. A Member of Aces & 8s
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I’ll just be real honest, there isn’t going to be a winner because this isn’t going to be a match. At best it’ll be a brawl. It’s a way to get the World Champion on the PPV without overshadowing the Bound for Glory Series. Pretty brilliant really because Aries appears in a major storyline, but isn’t the focus of the show.
Jarrett’s Prediction:
Joe’s Thoughts: The Aces & 8s storyline has managed to remain respectably watchable since it debuted earlier this summer. However, these things always have to come to a point where the viewers get answers or else they run the risk of wearing down the audience’s patience like Lost did on ABC. I think we’re going to get some type of “answer” tonight.
Joe’s Prediction: Austin Aries gets beaten down and put out of commission for a few weeks.
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Austin Aries.
Rob Van Dam vs. Magnus
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This match completely came out of left field. I wish that Magnus had these altercations with eliminated BFG competitors weeks ago, at least that way Magnus would be fresh on everyone’s minds. Magnus needs this win a lot more than RVD does.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Magnus wins
Joe’s Thoughts: Not much buildup to this match. However, I do like that they’re trying to use Magnus more often throughout the show. The guy has a ton of potential – he has the look, the building, the swagger, the attitude – he just needs the opportunity.
Joe’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
Mark A.’s Thoughts:
Mark A.’s Prediction: Magnus.
