Opening Segment
A video package with a voice over, highlighted all the events from last week’s edition of Impact Wrestling.
Dixie Carter tells AJ she’s not happy with how it went down, but glad it’s over and they can move on. AJ boasts about wanting revenge against Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels for himself, Dixie and Claire (the addict from last week.)
From there, fireworks blast inside the Impact Wrestling Zone and Mike Tenay talks about the Bound for Glory Series, Taelor Hendrix’s Gut Check judging, and the Slammiversary Rematch for the World Tag Team Championship. Video is shown of Claire entering the Impact Wrestling Zone earlier and Tenay hypes that she told it all and it will be shown throughout the night
Bound for Glory Series: Mister Anderson (9 Points) vs. Rob Van Dam (0 Points)
Mike Tenay explained that Anderson won seven points as result of a pinfall victory last week on Impact Wrestling against Daniels, and went to a time limit draw in a live event over the weekend gaining two more points. Tenay also notes during RVD’s entrance that Hulk Hogan declared the Bound for Glory Series will now have 15 minute time limits, rather than ten.
Rob Van Dam goes for a hip lock early, but Anderson fights out and gets one himself. RVD turns it up into a small package for two. Anderson turns that into a roll-up for two. Leg sweep by RVD leads to the two facing off. The two high five and Anderson connects with a cheap shot. Anderson gets a two count and hits a vertical suplex for two. RVD uses the legs for a top-toe hold and a roll-up for two. RVD locks in the Last Chancery (Austin Aries’ submission move) and Anderson manages to get to the ropes. RVD cinces in a abdominal stretch and Anderson tries to power out, but gets rolled-up for two. RVD cinches in the abdominal stretch from the ground, but Anderson elbows his way out of it. Anderson catches RVD with a running back elbow for a two count. RVD gets under Anderson and gets a northern lights suplex for two, but RVD hits a series of jabs that take Anderson down and then comes off the ropes with a cartwheel into a moonsault for two. RVD goes for the split legged moonsault, but Anderson gets the knees up and quickly covers for two. Anderson goes for the Mic check, RVD fights his way out, but Anderson gets a rolling neckbreaker for two. Anderson gets a sleeper, RVD hiptosses his way out, Anderson picks RVD up for a Finlay roll, but RVD reverses to a crucifix for the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Rob Van Dam (Wins 7 Points, Now Has 7 Points)
The Greatest Man to Ever Live, A Double will be on Impact Wrestling…right after the break!

Austin Aries asks the crowd who is ready for a dose of greatness. Aries talked about the decision he had to make last week that impacted himself and the X Division and how hard it was to make. After Hogan agreed to “Option C,” it made his decision pretty easy. Aries hyped a tournament that will end at Destination X and crown a new X Division Champion and how he’s seen old and new X Division faces in the back. Before Aries can continue, the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode slowly makes his way to the ring. Aries jokingly tells him to “Take your time.” Roode said that he couldn’t help hearing how pathetic Aries sounded from the back and told Aries to take a good look at him and the REAL World Championship. Roode asks Aries why it’s the Real World Championship, and Aries answers “because you’ve defended it all over the world.” Roode said because I made it that way single-handily, and said that 12 people are scratching and clawing for the chance to face the ‘It Factor’ for the World Championship at Bound for Glory, and the only reason Aries got his chance is because of Hulk Hogan. Roode said that Option C really is nothing but a failure because Aries is setting himself and the X Division up for failure and Roode will see to it that he fails. Roode tells Aries to get the hell out of his ring and calls him a kid. Aries asks what if he thinks this is his ring. Aries says if Roode wants him to get out of his ring to make him, and slaps the mic out of his hand. Roode takes his tie off and Aries takes off his shirt and starts talking trash. Roode starts laughing before grabbing his World Championship and slowly walks back up the ramp, trash talking Aries the whole way up.
Mike Tenay sets up clips from Claire’s revelation last week about being an addict. From that, Claire talks about how he knew Dixie, and explained that Dixie is a family friend and she met AJ at a party at her house. Claire explains that it got bad once Daniels and Kazarian found out AJ was helping him and answers emphatically that she never met Daniels or Kazarian. In the locker room, Kazarian blows up and said that for six months, he’s bought into Daniel’s bullshit and turned his back on his best friend of 12 years. Kazarian says that it stops tonight, and Daniels yells “What about our rematch?” ((Jarrett’s Jab – A Double and The It Factor of Professional Wrestling had such a great promo. THIS is what we need going into Destination X. I’m surprised to see Claire back considering how bad she was last week. The pre-taped interviews not only make sense considering the storyline, but also help Claire, who acted better than she did last week. It doesn’t make much sense to break up the only legit Tag Team at the moment that are actually featured on TV. Hopefully we will get more answers tonight involving Kaz and Daniels.))

X Division Tournament Qualifying Match: Rubix vs. Sonjay Dutt
The Orginal Playa From the Himalaya is appearing on Impact Wrestling for the first time since 2009 and is using his old ‘Guru’ theme. This is to determine who will go on to the X Division Title Tournament at Destination X. Fast paced start with Sonjay hit a flying headscissors that sent Rubix out to the floor. Sonjay got ready to hit a dive, but Rubix came back inside and dumped Dutt out to the floor, and he hit a dive before rolling Dutt back inside and heading up top. Dutt caught him with a dropkick on the way down and then hit the pendulum kick to the face, followed by a springboard splash for 2.two Rubix hits a leaping enziguiri and a bridging German suplex for two. Dutt nailed a fancy spinning tornado DDT and then came off the top rope with a moonsault into a double stomp for the win.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Christy Hemme interviews Sonjay after the match and asks how it feels to be back in the Impact Zone, and Sonjay says that the one thing he never accomplished when he was in Impact Wrestling was winning the X Division title, and he’s going to do that now because nobody has swagger like he does. ((Jarrett’s Jab – I don’t know who all might be brought back, but I’ve been a fan of Dutt. His Guru gimmick was very unique and he was able to make it work as a face or a heel. TNA needs some standout X Division Talent and Dutt fits the bill. On a personal note, I really hope that TNA can bring back Petey Williams. The Canadian Destroyer was a thing of beauty.))

We look back at last week when Taeler Hendrix appeared in the Gut Check, then we go to Al Snow, Taz, and Bruce Prichard as they debate whether Taeler deserves the contract. They debate whether they’re looking for someone with potential or someone who’s game ready, and Taz says that she didn’t have a sense of entitlement coming in, which is good because he can’t stand people who have that kind of attitude during a tryout. Taz seems pretty high on her, Prichard and Snow aren’t quite so sure because they have doubts, and we’ll find out her fate later on tonight.

Bound For Glory Series: Bully Ray (0 Points) vs. Samoa Joe (17 Points)
Bully Ray starts trashing talking Samoa Joe at the bell, but Joe isn’t intimidated and they tie up as the crowd chants that Joe is gonna kill Ray. Some quick chain wrestling starts off the actual wrestling before colliding with a pair of shoulderblocks that neither man sells. Ray takes Joe down with a back elbow and then goes to work on Joe’s arm and rakes his eyes. Ray with a vertical suplex and a diving headbutt as we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
Joe flatlines Ray over with a series of shoulderblocks and hits a leaping enziguiri, but Ray hits a clothesline to get things back in his control. The two trade rights in the middle of the ring and hit a double clothesline, knocking them both down. Ray is able to drape his arm over Joe for two, but Joe is quickly up and jabbing Ray in the face. Joe goes for a vertical suplex , but fails when Ray after Joe’s arm with a high angle armbar while holding the ropes. Joe slips out to the floor to try and get some space, but Ray gets dragged out to the floor. Ray slams Joe’s arm onto the ring steps and rolls him back inside, but Joe moves out of the way of a big splash. Joe hits an inverted atomic drop and running big boot followed by a back senton for a two count. Ray hits an uranage out of nowhere for two, but misses a senton off the second rope and they go to the outside where Ray lays Joe out with a big boot. Ray rolls inside to let the referee count, but Joseph Park walks down the ramp and up the apron, facing off with Bully Ray. Joesph slaps Bully Ray, Joe captalizes off the distraction by sneaking behind and making him tap out to the Kokina Clutch.
Winner by Pinfall: Samoa Joe (Gains 10 Points, Now Has 27 Points)
Joseph Park gets a microphone and says he knows who Ray is, but asks if Ray knows who he is. He’s Joseph Park, and he’s been bullied his entire life, and it ends right here tonight because it’s not about Abyss anymore, it’s about himself and Ray. He’s watched Ray bully everyone around here for long enough and he’s sick of it, so Park says they should settle this once and for all. He wants two weeks to get ready, and he’ll get in the ring and fight Ray again, and this time he’ll bring the fight to Ray.
We get to see more of the per-recoreded interview with Dixie Carter and Claire Lynch. Dixie says that the photo Daniels had was from AJ telling her how bad she really was. That, and the hotel room photo were taken out of context, as was the phone call where it turns out they were indeed planning Serge’s surprise party and Dixie was trying to get AJ and his kids to come down.
Kazarian is in Hulk Hogan’s office saying that he made a big mistake and he wants to be a tag team champion in this company, but not at the expense of his integrity. Hogan doesn’t quite believe him, but says that if that’s the way Kazarian wants to do it, then he’s going to make Kazarian accountable in tonight’s main event.
-Commercial Break-
Garett Bischoff in the parking garage. Madison Rayne comes over to hit on him and explains she has a crush and whispers who it is in his ear. Garett looks at her and sarcastically says ‘Good luck’. We then go to the Knockouts locker room where Brooke Hogan got Brooke Tessmacher a Direct Auto Insurance ad. Gail Kim comes in and lays down the law to Brooke and tell her where her bread is buttered, and Gail Kim wants another shot at Tessmacher. Hogan tells Gail not to come in here and get in her face, but she’s getting her title shot next week so she’d better be ready.
X Division Tournament Qualifier: Rashad Cameron vs Mason Andrews
Andrews gets a series of rollups for two, then backdrops Cameron to the floor and hits a twisting dive. Cameron gets a bit of an advantage and picks Andrews up for a suplex before dumping him onto the top rope, but he misses a moonsault and Andrews connects with a series of clotheslines and a springboard crossbody for two. Andrews misses another one and gets dropkicked out to the floor, and Cameron wipes Andrews out with a dive over the top rope. Cameron goes to the top rope, but Andrews leaps from the mat to hit a Frankensteiner. Cameron shoves Andrews at the referee and hits a leaping Flatliner for the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Rashad Cameron
Christy catches up with Cameron to ask his thoughts, and Cameron says he’s going to be the next X Division Champion, corrects how to say Philidelphia, and we just saw the beginning of the Cameron Movement.
-Commercial Break-
Hogan is backstage getting off the phone, and he asks how Jeff Hardy and James Storm are doing. Storm says he’s feeling better after taking time off, and Hogan tells both of them that they’re on fire and looking like they’re ready to take on the world. Next week’s main event is going to be Storm vs Hardy in the BFG Series, and they say that this is what they do this for.
Jeremy Borash is in the ring to introduce the judges for this month’s Gut Check, and then introduces Taeler Hendrix to hear the decision on whether she will get a TNA contract. The judges all feel like they’ve seen enough to make their decision, Taeler says she showed her best, and we go to the judges for their decision. Taz says yes, Al Snow says that he’s known her a long time and has seen her grow, and before he could continue, Joey Ryan is shown in the crowd making a ruckus and Taz goes out to the floor to go face to face with him. Joey Ryan is telling Taz to go ahead and hit him, but Al Snow comes out to get Taz back in the ring and calls for security to eject Ryan. We get back to Taeler, and Snow says that he knows she has talent and potential, but he doesn’t think she’s ready just yet. It all comes down to Bruce Prichard now, and Taeler gets one last chance to try and impress the last judge, and she says that at some time and place, someone gave all the judges a chance, and she wants a chance to prove to them that she can shine because she wants this. We go to Prichard, and he says that she’s green and rough around the edges, and he’s not sure she’s ready for prime time, but she has heart, desire, and class. His answer is yes, and with that, Borash welcomes her to Impact Wrestling. Taeler looks into the camera and thanks the fans at home for helping her to get here. ((Jarrett’s Jab – I hate Gut Check for this reason and this reason only, one of the judges always cuts down the participant. Prichard calling Taeler green and not ready for prime time is NOT what she needs to be a successful Knockout. I hope that TNA drops the American Idol judging, or at least stops the insider talk. Saying that she has potential is good enough instead of saying she isn’t. And to all those pathetic Joey Ryan fans, is that proof enough that it’s all a work? I had to unfollow people on twitter because they were bragging about boycotting the show because they said no to Ryan. Trust me, it got rather pathetic. Ryan has become the Davey Richards of TNA, extremely overrated and overhyped. It’s Joey Ryan, not Shawn Michaels, not Eddie Guerrero, not Kurt Angle. ))
Kurt Angle is backstage telling Styles that he respects what he was doing with Dixie, and they’re going to retain their title here tonight. Styles says the weight is off his shoulders, Daniels and Kazarian are divided, and they’re going to give their best tonight and win.
James Storm is in first place of the Bound for Glory Series with 36 points, Samoa Joe is in second with 27, Kurt Angle in third with 10, and Ken Anderson in fourth with 9 points. Next week, James Storm and Jeff Hardy go at it in a Bound for Glory Series match, Hardy currently stands tied with three other supertars at fifth place (owning 7 points)

World Tag team Title Match: Kurt Angle & AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian
Styles and Kazarian start, and AJ grabs Kazarian by the throat and backs him to the corner before taking him down and hitting a stiff kick to the back. Angle is in and Kazarian quickly tags out, and Daniels slams Angle and hits a springboard elbowdrop and tags in Kazarian to cover for two. Daniels tags himself back in and he quickly gets backdropped and suplexed out to the floor where AJ comes off the apron with a flying headscissors before dumping Daniels chest first onto the ring apron. Styles rams Daniels into the barricade and then goes back inside to await Daniels as he argues with Kazarian on the floor and we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
Daniels hits an STO for two on AJ, he tries the arabian moonsault, but AJ gets the knees up and Daniels hits hard. AJ makes the hot tag to Angle and Daniels immediately tags out to Kazarian, who gets his clock cleaned by Angle. Angle with the rolling German suplexes on Kazarian and then the straps come down as Angle starts with rolling German suplexes on Daniels. Daniels tries to hold onto Kazarian and Kazarian elbows him in the face to allow Angle to hit one last German. Kazarian goes for Fade To Black on Angle, Angle reverses to the anklelock, Kazarian kicks him off, but AJ comes in with a springboard forearm. Daniels comes in and he and AJ wipe each other out with simultaneous crossbody blocks. The referee gets bumped to the floor and then Daniels dumps Angle to the outside. Daniels gets a steel chair and goes to hit AJ with it, but Kazarian grabs the chair out of his hand, allowing AJ to hit the Pelle kick. Kazarian tosses the chair away, tells Styles to finish Daniels, then slides out of the ring. AJ goes for the Styles Clash, but Kazarian quickly slides back into the ring and knocks AJ out with the chair, allowing Daniels to cover AJ and get the three count.
Winners and NEW World Tag Team Champions: Christopher Daniels & Kazarian
Daniels says this is a great day because they’re the new champions, and Claire told the truth tonight, but not the whole truth. She’s obviously pregnant, and the truth is that the baby’s father is AJ STYLES! Daniels rants about how the baby will be Phenomenal while Claire has her head in her palms and Dixie is mumbling “You’re finished” for the second time in a month. ((Jarrett’s Jab – I didn’t see that coming. I respect TNA for trying to get as much mileage out of this storyline as possible. Daniels is phenomenal on the microphone and has done the bulk of the selling. ))
Dylan Standlea says
I know pro wrestling is all one big athletic soap opera, but I prefer the soap opera to be told through athleticism! I prefer the drama of the storylines to play out in the ring, and be influenced by what happens in the ring.
I don’t mind storylines. In fact I love them. But this stuff with the affair, and the pregnant drug addict out of nowhere, played by an actress (?) who is terrible at crying but keeps trying anyway–it just doesn’t do it for me. And that audience is just going to cheer AJ no matter who he has an affair with or knocks up. They view it as a weird “alright AJ!” thing.
There’s elements here that are cool … I like Kazarian’s role in all this, and how he stuck by Daniels in the end. I didn’t see that swerve coming. I like how Daniels is this demonic corrupter figure, living up to his moniker as The Fallen Angel. And I even like the idea that of AJ being the golden boy that’s not so golden in secret, and the focused tag-team partner in Angle who just wants to win and be competitive.
But I don’t like the story they chose to bring all those elements together.
Otherwise Impact has been a treat lately, and I can’t wait for Destination X.
Jonathan Clark says
i agree with you but to me, there’s already so many other storylines where the focus is on the wrestling and what happens in the ring that its alright by me to have this over the top, soap opera storyline. it doesnt bother me as much as it has others. ive actually enjoyed it (with the exception of some bad acting).
completely agree about daniels. he has been gold throughout this whole story. daniels has to be considered one of the top heels in the company at this point, he’s done a great job. kaz has been great too. as has aj.
