TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match
Steel Cage Match
James Storm vs. Bobby Roode
Joe’s Thoughts: Here’s the thing… the writing team at TNA is clearly trying to create multi-month and even year-long feuds (and I fully endorse that, old school approach to booking a promotion). Given that fact, one might argue that despite the other pay-per-view main events in the interim, tonight’s main event between Bobby Roode and James Storm is the culmination of six month feud that started right after Bound for Glory. If you can accept that premise, then I think you have to go with Storm for the win. However, if you think that the writers are looking at building an even bigger feud between these two for the ultimate payoff at Bound for Glory, then you have to go with Bobby Roode for the win to continue building his street cred. I want to go with Storm because he’s riding a wave of excitement and promotion right now, but I don’t see an immediate future without Roode as the World Champion… yet.
Joe’s Prediction: Bobby Roode
Mark A.’s Thoughts: No getting out of this one, Bobby. In the cage, it’s 1v1, and no short-cuts. I’m expecting a great battle.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Bobby Roode.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Ahhh… so at first glance, this seems like the classic story of revenge against a former best friend. And everything seems to have been built up sooooo well for this storyline, too. The broken beer bottle symbolizing the broken bond, the struggle for James Storm to have gotten up to this point, the building of Roode being a total scumbag. And now, Roode has nowhere to go and nowhere to hide as he’ll be locked down in a steel cage with James Storm for the title. Additionally, this PPV just so happens to take place in Storm’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. So everything points to Storm winning, right? Just like it pointed to Roode winning in October… personally, I want to see Storm get screwed by Roode. I want to see Roode somehow get out of that cage with the belt. I want to see Roode solidify his position as the most hated man in wrestling today, and a victory at Lockdown would do that.
Mark L.’s Prediction: It’s a bold one. But I’m going for Roode.
Scott’s Thoughts: Both these guys have seized the opportunity given to them by the TNA top brass. I see a slow burning classic here.
Scott’s Prediction: James Storm
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: James Storm
Joe’s Thoughts: The Motor City Machine Guns are the best tag team in professional wrestling right now – even when tag team wrestling is a dying art. But just because they’re the best doesn’t mean they’re going to be the champions so soon after returning from a year-long hiatus (unfortunately). Just as long as losing the match doesn’t lead to an Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin feud, I’m fine with Samoa Joe and Magnus getting the win.
Joe’s Prediction: Samoa Joe & Magnus
Mark A.’s Thoughts: So happy to see Motor City back, and in a match with Magnus and Joe? This is MY Main Event.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Joe/Magnus (sadly)
Mark L.’s Thoughts: On one hand, it’s great to see the MCMG back. On the other hand, who did they beat to earn this title shot? Mexican America? Thing is, as much as I rag on Mex. USA, I want them to be more than the joke of the tag team they’ve become. And maybe, just maybe, they could use another tag team or two as well to really get this division going again. I’d also like to see Joe and Magnus win, but overall, no matter who wins, I want to see the Tag Team Division at least attempt to return to its glory, and this is an excellent match to do so.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Joe & Magnus
Scott’s Thoughts: Joe and Magnus have finally brought back some credibility to the tag division and the returning Guns are a welcome addition. Hard hitting meets high flying.
Scott’s Prediction: Joe and Magnus
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: The Motor City Machine Guns
Joe’s Thoughts: Similar to my thoughts above the Roode vs. Storm match, one’s view on the winner of this match really depends on who they think the writers are putting their faith in for the next six months. The way that Gail Kim has been treated since her return makes me think that she’s the only one the writers are looking at for the next few months, so I’m going with her to retain.
Joe’s Prediction: Gail Kim
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Massive match for the Knockouts. Sadly, this has been quickly thrown together in the past two or three weeks, and if Velvet was to win her first PROPER (I don’t count the farcical circumstances at BFG) Knockouts title, I’d expect much more feud-building. I also expect for Madison to take the strap from Gail.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Gail Kim.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Personal bias (aka all the wrong reasons) fuels my prediction here…. the stories with the Knockouts just don’t interest me like they used to.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Velvet Sky
Scott’s Thoughts: Kim needs a win here to secure her standing as a true legend of the KO division.
Scott’s Prediction: Gail Kim
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Gail Kim
Joe’s Thoughts: Oh! Oh! Oh! I’m a fan of Devon, but a bigger fan of my fellow Jersey Shore native. The only time the Television Championship has meant anything in the last year (plus) was when Robbie E. held it. I think everyone finally realizes that fact and they’re going to do the right thing and put the belt back on Robbie E.
Joe’s Prediction: Robbie E.
Mark A.’s Thoughts: The likes of Doug Williams being kept off TV for Devon? No disrespect Devon, but you’ve had more TV time than someone who deserves it.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Robbie E.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: I legitimately don’t even remember Devon winning this belt. I legitimately don’t even remember what happened with the feud between him and Pope. But if having Devon maintain the belt can bring some long sought competitiveness to the TV Title, then I’m all for it.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Devon
Scott’s Thoughts: I sense a more serious side to Robbie E emerging after Lockdown and a win here is a must for the fist bumper extraordinaire.
Scott’s Prediction: Robbie E
William’s Thoughts:

Lethal Lockdown
Steel Cage Match
Garett Bischoff, RVD, Austin Aries, Mr. Anderson, & AJ Styles
vs.
Eric Bischoff, Gunner, Bully Ray, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels
Joe’s Thoughts: Eric Bischoff has a bunch of Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment stuff going on right now… and Garett Bischoff just got a brand new opening video montage. Who do you think is going to stick around?
Joe’s Prediction: Team Garett
Mark A.’s Thoughts: This became very interesting with the names in the cage. The Garett/Eric storyline isn’t one I’m following though.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Team Garett.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: I don’t want to be this guy, but history says that the bad guys will lose. The bad guys lead in with the man advantage but the good guys persevere. They did this last year and the year before. And while the stakes are high… dare I say ridiculous (Eric Bischoff loses the rights to his name? Yeah, okay…) I’m sure that the result here is obvious.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Team Garrett
Scott’s Thoughts: Garrett Bischoff has been forced down our throats for far too long and I really hope TNA starts to realise he’s never going to be a major draw.
Scott’s Prediction: Team Garrett with Aries picking up the winning pin
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Eric Bischoff, Gunner, Bully Ray, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels
Joe’s Thoughts: Part of me wants to write “yawn” and move along, but that wouldn’t be the way that I truly view this match. The story behind it sucks, for sure. However, the two men competing are among the best in professional wrestling so I’m looking forward to the show that these two put on. Based on absolutely no evidence and using nothing but my own point of view as a basis, I think that Kurt Angle has control over whether he wins or loses on the pay-per-views (Bound for Glory 2011 anyone?). So, with that in mind…
Joe’s Prediction: Kurt Angle
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Interesting. High-flying Hardy vs. ground technician Angle. My wrestling head says Angle, by a distance.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Kurt Angle.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: So since Angle is heel, he’s probably not going to be doing any high risk stunts. That’s perfectly fine, because that’s what Jeff is for. This one could go either way, and I believe that whether a Swanton from the top of the cage hits or not will determine who wins. And personally, I think it’s gonna hit.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
Scott’s Thoughts: Angle’s disappointment at missing out on the Olympics will see him focus more on TNA and I see a highly entertaining match here.
Scott’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
Joe’s Thoughts: You should skip down and read Mark Littles’ thoughts before reading mine. Did you read Mark’s thoughts? Good! Well, Mark makes a good point because I’m torn on this match. I’ve been a fan of Crimson since he debuted as Amazing Red’s “little” brother, but I never bet against my fellow Monmouth alumnus Matt Morgan. This one is tough… but I’m going with Crimson. I just can’t see the streak ending at Lockdown and even though a botched ending or a blown call could be the easy way out for the writing team on this one, they’ve used those types of endings over and over again over the last few weeks. Sorry Morgan!
Joe’s Prediction: Crimson
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Crimson’s recent heel-turn needs building. A win here would do just that. TNA should just give Morgan a title shot already! How much longer will it take?! He’s worked bloody hard for it!
Mark A.’s Prediction: Crimson.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Is anyone other than Joe expecting Matt Morgan to end the streak here? :p
Mark L.’s Prediction: Crimson
Scott’s Thoughts: Crimson and Morgan are two decent big men in the sport but I feel it is finally time for Morgan to reach his potential and chase singles Gold.
Scott’s Prediction: Matt Morgan
William’s Thoughts:
