Wrestling legend Joe Blanchard has passed away at age 83. Blanchard, a fixture in Texas where he wrestled and promoted during a 30-plus year career, was probably best known for heading his promotion Southwest Championship Wrestling. He went on to get a wrestling show on the USA Network that was going to go to war with Vince McMahon, but fell short due to finances, and lost the time slot. SLAM! Sports has more here. (Note: Blanchard was reportedly born on Dec 7., 1928, which would make him 83, but several sites are reporting his age as 84.)
