ShopTNA.com Purchase Experience Review

As we previously reported ShopTNA.com was/is holding a major TNA Wrestling action figure sale.

With Christmas coming up, a major part of my youngest son’s Christmas wish list includes TNA action figures. I was ready to pull the trigger on ordering figures from Amazon or Ebay when this sale came up. After a brief price comparison I decided to place an order with ShopTNA.com, and here is a brief review of my experience.

After reviewing the various sale figures I settled on the “12 Different Action Figures” for $69.29 deal, the price threshold qualified for free shipping, which is always a major draw when shopping online.

The description at the time stated in Don West ALL CAPS, “YOU WILL RECEIVE 12 DIFFERENT ACTION FIGURES OF YOUR FAVORITE TNA IMPACT SUPERSTARS. OF OUR CHOICE YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO RECEIVE A HULK HOGAN AND A STING ACTION FIGURE IN THE DEAL. THESE WILL COME IN SINGLE PACKS OR 2 PACKS FOR A TOTAL OF 12”. I am usually very hesitant about “random” packages as you usually get one or two prime pieces and the rest overstocks that can’t be moved under normal circumstances, I was afraid Hogan and Sting were the bait that would get us stuck with ten forgettable action figures.

Upon reaching the checkout I was asked to enter my zip code. After entering my zip code my total was increased to $73.07 and a $3.78 handling charge was added. I went back and read the fine print, and indeed the cart total qualified me for free shipping but not handling. A minor annoyance, but the total was well within my “good deal” radar, so I proceeded to checkout. Order completed on 11/11/11 at 6:02 PM.

I immediately received email confirmation for my order. This would be the last I heard from ShopTNA until 11/21/11, ten days later. The email contained two shipping confirmation numbers. One for Fedex Smartpost, and the other for USPS. For those that don’t shop online very often, Smartpost is a Fedex discount service where the package is transferred from Fedex to the USPS on the last leg of delivery to save the consumer or shipper a little on postage, sometimes this can be a tracking nightmare but usually it works out ok.

My package left Nashville, TN on 11/21. It took Fedex 4 days to get it to my local post office here in Ohio (Thanksgiving was in this period so technically you could say three days). The local post office then delivered it this morning, the same day they received it. The tracking worked great. So from order placement to delivery it took 15 days.

Now the important part. The condition, quality, and assortment of the figures.

The figures were packed tightly and securely, none of the backing cards were damaged, even slightly (which is very important for collectors, not so much for my 4 year old son who will be flinging them across the room Christmas morning).

The assortment was better than I could have imagined. There were 6 TNA “Cross The Line” Two Packs. Sting & RVD, Kurt Angle & Mr. Anderson, AJ Styles & Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan & Abyss, Stevie Richards & Daffney, Kevin Nash & Eric Young. Not a bad mix at all.

Summary. I would definitely order from ShopTNA.com again. I would prefer faster shipping, without the handling charge(most online sites offer free S&H on large orders nowadays) but the deal itself more than made up for those negatives. I perused Ebay and Amazon and the figures we received would have cost around $105, that’s a savings of $31.93. It’s an even bigger savings over retail store price. A great deal by any standard.

Footnote. ShopTNA.com has since lowered the price and the 12 figure deal can be had for $53.45, and they have added the following, “!!UPDATE ON TOP OF GUARANTEEING STING AND HULK HOGAN WE ARE NOW GUARANTEEING JEFF HARDY, RVD AND THE PHENOMINAL AJ STYLES AS WELL!!” If you’ve been waiting on the fence on these I imagine these won’t last long.
