Jarrett’s Thoughts: If I was TNA, I’d be getting a few backup plans ready pretty fast. James Storm is out with a concussion and AJ is suffering from an “ankle” injury. He has said that he is going to wrestle this Sunday regardless and my heart goes out to him for that. I sincerely hope, not just as a TNA Fan, but as a fan of AJ Styles, that he doesn’t put himself to further risk by competing Sunday.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Bobby Roode retains
Joe’s Thoughts: Too early for Bobby Roode to lose the World Heavyweight Championship. Also, I think it’s a little bit too early for the Bobby Roode vs. AJ Styles match to even take place, but assuming that Styles goes out to rehab his injury after this match is over, I guess this can act as a preview of their eventual match where Styles wins the championship in a few months (Lockdown, maybe?).
Joe’s Prediction: Bobby Roode
Mark A.’s Thoughts: After a title-roulette of three people in the past four weeks, I’d say Roode will have it for a while yet.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Bobby Roode.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: In a column I made earlier this week, I said that Roode’s build up went down the drain. Logic says that Roode should stay on top. I say screw the logic and put AJ Styles as Champion.
Mark L.’s Prediction: AJ Styles
TNA World Tag Team Championship
Ink, Inc. & Toxxin vs. Mexican America & Sarita
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Oh, this is a TNA World Title Match? I thought this was just boring filler. I miss the days (like earlier this year) when the Tag Team Titles meant something. Mexican America aren’t doing anything for the belts and Ink Inc won’t do anything with them either. What happened to the British Invasion, and when is Sabin cleared to come back?
Jarrett’s Prediction: Ink Inc
Joe’s Thoughts: The reason why I find this match hard to predict isn’t just because both teams aren’t given a lot of time to ply their trade on television, but also because I have no idea who would benefit more from winning this match. The truth is that Mexican America (and all ethnic-based factions) is holding on to the past with this gimmick. It’s 2011 – almost 2012 for goodness sake! Can we drop the implied “America is racist and that’s why us Mexicans need to stick together” stuff already? Ugh…
Joe’s Prediction: Ink, Inc. and Toxxin
Mark A.’s Thoughts: I feel the tag titles are losing prestige. Ink Inc. recently had a decent match with British Invasion on Xplosion, which would go down well as Magnus‘ Xplosion Championship Challenge.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Ink Inc.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Oh, how the tag team division has fallen…
Mark L.’s Prediction: Ink, Inc. & Toxxin
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I know that a lot of people are fans of Velvet, but I hope that she loses the Knockouts title. Gail is the the first knockouts champion, and I personally feel that Velvet is better chasing the gold than she is holding it.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Gail Kim wins
Joe’s Thoughts: Gail Kim is going to be the TNA Knockouts Champion again… but she’s not winning the title tonight. There is too much moment behind Velvet Sky right now to deflate the balloon.
Joe’s Prediction: Velvet Sky
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Newly returning knockout that won the first Knockouts Title. As a bad-girl, I’d say she’s favourite for this.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Gail Kim.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Gail’s a legit threat on her own merit, and she’s got momentum on her side. She’s also one of Karen’s favorites. This probably won’t go down cleanly, but I do want to see Velvet defy odds and win this.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Velvet Sky
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Nice way to build Sorensen up to be the underdog, however I wish they’d drop the football. If people only know him as ‘that football player guy’ he won’t get too far. I’d really like Aries to hold the title longer, hopefully a feud with Alex Shelly. After all, his partner Chris Sabin is still injured.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Austin Aries retains
Joe’s Thoughts: Just as much as Garett Bischoff is bringing in a ton of hits to this website, since Thursday’s episode of iMPACT Wrestling, Jesse Sorensen is the number one search term that is bringing people here. Still, though, I don’t know if it’s his time yet. I really want to say that Kid Kash is going to get the strap, but when in doubt I stick with Aries to retain.
Joe’s Prediction: Austin Aries
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Jesse is still pretty young to have the title thrown on him. Kid Kash will probably screw Aries.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Kid Kash.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Well… I don’t see Kid Kash winning this. Either Jesse gets the nod since he’s been so on point with his showing in Impact thus far or the feud between Kash and Sorensen continues, allowing AA to pull out a quiet victory to retain. I’m going with choice number AA.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Austin Aries
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Guess the fact that this match wasn’t hyped on iMPACT at all (not even in the match that these two was actually in) shows how much TNA cares about the belt.I miss for the Eric Young that held this belt the first time, when he was a top heel who showed his wrestling skill, not losing his pants during matches. Robbie E needs this title for a boost in his character, and to make the belt mean something again.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Robbie E.
Joe’s Thoughts: So, do you think the conversation went something like this? Writer: “Hey, Robbie – we need you to put over Ronnie from the Jersey Shore.” Robbie: “Ugh… really? What do I get out of it besides exposure to the Jersey Shore fans which, by the way, I already got last year?” Writers: “Funny you should ask – we figured that Eric Young’s consistent mockery of the Television Championship has run its course and that we’d give you the strap a few days after you put Ronnie over.” Robbie: “Done.”
Joe’s Prediction: Robbie E.
Mark A.’s Thoughts: I’d like to see that title away from Young, even though he’s probably the most entertaining person I’ve seen in wrestling since the Disco Inferno. Enjoying Robbie E lots too. They’ve had good matches on Impact and Xplosion, so this should be pure entertainment.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Robbie E.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: If EY keeps it, the title continues to be a joke. If Robbie wins it, it’ll be bittersweet for me because I’m still not a big fan of his, but there might be some hope for this title to be used somewhat effectively. EY, I love you man, but I need to see that belt spark some serious competition.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Robbie E
No Disqualification Match
Christopher Daniels vs. Rob Van Dam
Jarrett’s Thoughts: PLEASE don’t let that screwdriver be under the ring. It’s a bad choice for a weapon because realistically he won’t use it on anybody. RVD has a fire under him that Jerry Lynn lit at Bound for Glory, so I suspect a good match. The only reason I’m picking my choice is TNA needs all the main eventers it can get with both Storm and Styles injured.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
Joe’s Thoughts: Hmmm… This one makes me stop and think about who could benefit more from winning this match. In reality, I think that Daniels gets more out of beating a big name like Rob Van Dam. However, I think that RVD will quickly become one of the top faces in the company if AJ Styles’ injury needs a long time to heal.
Joe’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
Mark A.’s Thoughts: What better to give Daniels an ego-boost than a (cheated) win over RVD?
Mark A.’s Prediction: Daniels.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: This feud is so… random.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Daniels
Jarrett’s Thoughts: There would be a hefty price tag to be paid in order for me to care about this match. If Crimson is suppose to be a Goldberg knockoff, they need to study why Goldberg was so popular. The main one is that he dominated every match he was in, not get dominated by someone who hasn’t been on TV for about a month. Crimson has no “It Factor,” No one really cares about him because TNA really hasn’t given us a reason to, so I hope that TNA realizes this and kills Crimson’s push. But it won’t happen.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Crimson
Joe’s Thoughts: Matt Morgan is my man, but Crimson’s undefeated streak isn’t going to end at Turning Point.
Joe’s Prediction: Crimson
Mark A.’s Thoughts: The battle of the big men, and it won’t be as bad as Big Show vs. Mark Henry. Both should be contenders to the title in the next 12 months.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Crimson.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: lol
Mark L.’s Prediction: Crimson
Jeff Jarrett vs. Jeff Hardy
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Mike Tenay hit the nail on the head when he said he has to prove himself to the boys in the back, but he has to prove himself to the fans too. Most of the fans has taken Hardy back, seemingly forgetting about Victory Road and his other disappointments. Jeff Jarrett hasn’t and that is the sad part in this whole feud: Jarrett is 100% right. Every occurrence that Double J has mentioned is true, and in spite of that the fans still boo him. The whole theme of Hardy’s resurrection is asking for one more shot, but Jeff Jarrett has truthfully stated he’s had shot, after shot, and he’s screwed them all up. There isn’t a clear cut side to take in this feud and TNA really boxed themselves in a corner by not having Jeff try to rebuttal and make Jarrett look like the evil boss he should have been.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
Joe’s Thoughts: Part of me believes that Jeff Jarrett should never win a match for the same reason that I feel like Triple H should never win a match. When you’re part of the management team of the promotion, your sole job should be to put other people over – and I think that’s what Jeff Jarrett is going to do for a still-returning Jeff Hardy.
Joe’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Good to see Hardy back and clean. Hopefully he sticks to it and TNA help as much as possible. The story itself has the potential to help TNA to improve ratings also. This feud could last a while, and Jeff Jarrett will make his matches look really good, due to his in-ring work rate.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: This one… I can’t get wrong.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Jeff
[Editor’s Note: Doesn’t count, but very clever! Made me laugh! :-)]
Scott Steiner & Bully Ray vs. Abyss & Mr. Anderson
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Wasn’t this what we saw on Impact, just missing two people? I don’t understand why fans will want to pay to see something they saw three days prior, but I don’t always understand TNA’s logic.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Anderson and Abyss
Joe’s Thoughts: I hesitate to say that I don’t care about this match because each of these guys has some degree of potential on their own as a singles competitor. But thrown together in a current Immortal vs. former Immortal tag team match just feels very… meh.
Joe’s Prediction: Abyss & Mr. Anderson
Mark A.’s Thoughts: Doesn’t really interest me. Abyss seems to be floating around in no direction, ever since the end of his feud with Sting resulting in his controversial World Title stint.
Mark A.’s Prediction: Bully Ray & Scott Steiner.
Mark L.’s Thoughts: Immortal has no steam at all, and thus needs to implode upon its own name and die already.
Mark L.’s Prediction: Anderson & Abyss

Very entertaining predictions this month. I especially like Joe’s speculation about the Robbie E. match, as well as Mark A’s Disco Inferno reference.
I agree with Mark L. about Immortal. Here’s what should have happened: on the Impact immediately following Bound For Glory, Dixie Carter or Sting should have announced the permanent disbandment of Immortal. The stable is named after Hulk Hogan, who isn’t with them. It was formed to take over the company, and they have now lost control. It’s time to break up that group, and find interesting new things for Gunner and Steiner to do. I don’t think anyone should be worried about what to do with Bully Ray and Jarrett.
One of the great downfalls of WCW was that they didn’t know when to end the best storyline they ever had. The NWO, which put them on top of the world and nearly buried WWE, became the plot that actually buried WCW. The Immortal storyline was well thought out, it had a great preamble, and its conclusion should have been Bound for Glory 2011. We don’t need that group anymore.
Joe Vincent says
Totally agree about Immortal. It’s time has come and now that time has passed. It needs to be put to bed so the guys involved with that storyline can move on.
Mark Ashworth says
Kept forgetting about this, and just got around to reading it all.
Great to get some insight from fellow staff members onto how they feel things are going and how they will go.
