WWE sometime announcer Jim Ross spoke recently about TNA star Samoa Joe, who for whatever reason is listed as “contract up and heading to the WWE” by dirt sheets several times a year.
From J.R.’s blog:
“Will WWE hire Samoa Joe some day? 1. I don’t know as I’m not in that loop which should be obvious by some of the signees in recent years. 2. How does anyone know Joe wants to come to WWE?
Personally, I like Joe’s work and his unique look which means he likely won’t be signed. Just saying…but you need to ask John Laurinaitis as he seems to be the genius of the week.”
I cannot stand J.R’s comments on these things. Ever noticed how when there is a rumour, he will always say:
“Will (insert topic here) WWE? I don’t know. But I do like (insert topic here) and think it would be good if it happened”.
I am assuming(and it’s only an assumption) this comes from a few years ago when JR blogged on the WWE site. JR would often answer questions and was obligated to say it was his opinion and didn’t have information. The WWE eventually removed the blog and allowed JR to blog(WWE controls your life when you are under contract) on his own site as long as he was clear he wasn’t speaking for the WWE. I think to this day he is careful to make sure that is always clarified.
Like JR or not, he has been involved in wrestling since the territory days so I think that is why so many fans ask him for his opinion.
