Xplosion – October 12, 2011
From the iMPACT Wrestling Zone in Orlando, Florida
Announced by Jeremy Borash and Taz
We’re given a quick synopsis of the show, and as always, into the action.
TNA Television Championship Match
Doug Williams vs. Eric Young.
Magnus accompanies Doug Williams momentarily, then joins Taz and JB on the announcers table.
Borash explains the basis of this match being that Eric Young believes Doug Williams to be from a very old episode of Baywatch, thus making Williams a TV star outside of the wrestling world, and making him eligible for a chance to win the TNA Television Championship.
The referee takes the belt and gives it to So Cal Val, but before he rings the bell, Young goes straight for him, seemingly attempting an Irish whip. The referee instructs Young to fight Williams, and we get underway.
The fans get behind Young, chanting his name and him dancing to the chants. They finally tie up after that interlude. Williams with an arm bar. Young rolls about five times, and makes no attempt to reverse it, instead just breaking the hold by stamping the toes of Williams. He gets his own arm bar on Williams who does reverse it into an arm bar. He throws Young down, but Young gets back up, so Williams pushes him into the corner. Young reverses it, but Williams reverses again. Back and forth they go, reversing each other in the corner before the referee pulls them apart. Young then grips the referee into the corner as Williams watches on. The referee then gets out of it, which constitutes a reversal in Eric Young’s mind, and so, we see some more reversals of the move until finally, Young collides with Williams, who was lining up a punch. Williams runs towards Young, who dodges his advance, almost sending Williams into the referee. Young gets a roll-up and a two count from this.
Williams is straight up and into a headlock Young goes. Young gets Williams up for an atomic drop. Right hands from Young, then Williams is whipped off and receives a forearm. Young, two count from the pin as we go for a break.
EY sends Williams into the corner as we come back. Williams whips Young off, but Young does the old Ric Flair flip out of the corner onto the apron, then performing a little strut to tempt Williams in before giving him a right hand. Shoulder attempt for a sunset flip fails, as Williams sees it coming and guillotines Young on the middle rope. Knee drop from Williams. He picks him back up for a headlock, forcing Young back down again. Another knee drop. Reverse chin lock, and a knee into the back for Young.
Young gets to a vertical base and a jaw breaker after a while in the hold. Young doesn’t follow up, allowing Williams back into it with right hands, but Young absorbs them, seeming to “Hulk up” when hit. Clubbing uppercut from Williams sends Young over the edge as he unbuckles his belt and pulls his shorts down to expose his pink trunks. Williams has a look of disgust on his face and attempts some rights, which are blocked and Young responds with his own. Backed into the corner, Williams reverses an Irish whip and Young goes over the top to the floor. Williams follows after catching his breath and gets Young back in the ring. Williams with gut-shots and uppercuts backs Young into the corner. Williams runs in with a high knee, then throws Young on the floor. Williams going to the top rope as Young gets up, and a flying uppercut levels Young again. Two count from the pin fall.
Williams attempts a Chaos Theory as Young gets up, but it’s blocked by Young who ducks a clothesline and brings Williams down with a crucifix pin which gains the three count!
Winner, and still TNA Television Champion, Eric Young via Pinfall.
