Well, it seems like history might be repeating itself for the team at iMPACT Wrestling. However, this time around it looks like the issue is occurring in the United Kingdom.
According to the sources that we use to get information on ratings in the United Kingdom, it seems that the Sunday, September 18th episode of iMPACT Wrestling was not ranked as one of the top ten programs for the week on Challenge TV. Since it was not ranked in the top ten programs on the channel, we cannot report what the total viewership estimate is for the September 18th episode.
What we can report, though, is that the tenth ranked program on Challenge TV that week was estimated to have 114,000 viewers. Assuming that iMPACT Wrestling wasn’t pre-empted and was shown during its regular time slot on Sunday nights, this would indicate that the September 18th episode of the show received less than 114,000 viewers.
For comparison’s sake, the live showing of WWE Night of Champions on September 18th was estimated to have 156,000 viewers. Further, the September 12th episode of RAW was estimated to have 145,000 viewers. Also for comparion’s sake, here are the recent viewership estimates for the last few episodes of iMPACT Wrestling on Challenge TV:
Sunday, September 18th: Unranked
Sunday, September 11th: 149,000
Sunday, September 4th: 180,000
Sunday, August 28th: 194,000
Tuesday, August 23rd: 209,000
Tuesday, August 16th: 218,000
Tuesday, August 9th: 241,000
Tuesday, August 2nd: 297,000
As you can see, there has been a slow, steady decline in viewership in the United Kingdom that was kicked into high gear when the show moved to Sunday nights. If the move to to Monday nights in the States is any example, then it might be time for iMPACT Wrestling to consider making the move back to Tuesday nights in the United Kingdom.
I know we have a lot of readers from the United Kingdom – what do you think is going on here? Do you think that it’s time for iMPACT Wrestling to go back to Tuesday nights? Or was the September 18th episode a random anomaly that will probably not happen again? Does this have something to do with the recent mandatory reset requirement for the Freeview boxes? You folks are on the ground in the United Kingdom and we welcome your feedback!

Doesn’t seem like good news to me, but I really don’t know enough about the U.K. market to know what’s going on. Looking forward to the reader feedback on this one.

The change hasn’t been advertised very well at all Infact untill reading this I didn’t know it had moved and am still watching on a tuesday night. Also I think challenge isn’t really a channel people watch alot maybe flick on and watch a bit of a gameshow so if there advertising is only on this channel it is very likely it won’t be seen by very many people.

I live in the uk and really confused by these numbers. With Tuesday nights drawing over 200 k regularly the move to sundays seems odd. BUT i dont want a 3 day delay fro us transmission!
martin says
also its on on sundays and tuesdays
so both ratings added together are quite big
i watch it both nights i assume most do

ok guys lets bring some clarity to this situation.
firsty challange tv is replaying impact on its original timeslot on tuesday evening so im guessing alot of the fans are still tuning in on tue.
secondly challange tv has changed its freeview frequency recenty
so its quite possible alot of viewers have not retuned there satellite receivers.
thirdly challange has a one hour time delay channel (challange+1)
so there are actually four options for fans to tune in.
sundays at 9 or 10 or tuesdays at 10 or 11.
I myself dont read spoilers on the net so it doesn’t really matter if i watch a three or five day time delay show.i simply will watch impact when its convenient for me .
im sure if we where able to combine the ratings of the four timeslots they would be comparable with the aug 2nd episode.
Joe Vincent says
That would be ideal, James. However, the viewership numbers aren’t reported that way (would be nice if they were). Thank you for the updated information.
