Hey everyone – what did you think about tonight’s No Surrender pay-per-view?
For my part, I was only surprised by the Mickie James title loss. Everything else seemed somewhat formulaic. In my view, of course Kurt Angle would retain the title because of course Bobby Roode would win the Bound for Glory Series. At the same time, you might as well say that of course Jesse Sorensen would win the #1 Contender for the X-Division Championship match because (of course) Austin Aries would win the X-Division Championship from Brian Kendrick during tonight’s pay-per-view. Same thing with Mexican America retaining – who else was going to win that match? Devon and D’Angelo Dinero? I don’t think so – what would be the purpose of them winning the match anyway? No storyline progression at all in that scenario.
I’m particularly interested in the opinions of anyone who actually saw the show. Did you order the show? If so, why did you order it? Was there a new looking set? What should those of us who didn’t order the show know more than anything else? What was the feel of the crowd? How did the show come off on TV (or on the web if you watched it online)?

I felt the PPV was, as usual, highly entertaining and generally well done. I actually thought the main event was hit and miss though, and it took a while for the three stars to really click and mesh well.
They did a good job I felt of building a lot of drama for the end of the BFG series in a single night, which is very fortunate. It’s up to Roode now to truly deliver. He’s not a bad adversary for Kurt Angle, seeing as he can make the case as much as AJ Styles that he’s been around since day 1 and Kurt was someone they brought in to take the limelight and elevate everyone else. This could create some immediate animosity … And of course Fortune are big supporters of Dixie Carter.
There is still a Fortune, right? Havent seem them operate as a unit in a while.
Sorensen and Kid Kash put on a good match with some awkward moments, and Kendrick and Aries delivered as I knew they would. I would actually love to see Devon and the Pope form a permanent team, so long as they get a proper tag team name (The Congregation? The Testament?) anadromous matching attire. The Pope is, well, the Pope, and Devon has his whole Testify catch phrase going on … It’s not too far fetched.
I don’t mind Winter winning the title at all, although I’m a big fan of Mickie James. They put on a great match, and Winter is a great heel. I hope she holds it for a long time and puts a death grip on the Knockouts. It feels like it would be good for the division.
On a side note, post-Immortal, I’d really like to see Sting amp things up with a stable of his own. Put him with a reformed but still demented Abyss, and a focused but still lost his marbles Eric Young. Maybe even Winter too. Call it The Asylum. Sting could use a supporting cast of misfits, and I bet they could use him.
