Xplosion – August 31, 2011
From the iMPACT Wrestling Zone in Orlando, Florida
Announced by Jeremy Borash and Taz
After a quick run down, we’re straight into the action.
Abyss vs. Kazarian.
So Cal Val introduces both competitors, Abyss knocking the cameraman down twice.
Kaz starts on his toes, Abyss in the centre of the ring. The pair go to lock up, but Kaz goes behind. Abyss just throws Kaz off using his arm.
Both go to tie up again, but Kaz rolls around Abyss and chops Abyss with kicks and haymakers, bouncing off the rope but being flattened by Abyss’ big elbow. Abyss keeps the onslaught going from one corner to the opposite, whipping Kaz off into the corner and attempting a splash which is seen by Kaz, who moves out of the way. Kaz goes for a corner mount, pushed off by Abyss at five. Kaz connects with a flying forearm which rocks the big man. Kaz back off the ropes, baseball slide, and a dropkick to the midsection. Kaz again off the ropes runs into a big boot and is floored, rolling to the outside to catch his breath.
Abyss stalks Kaz outside, grabbing the hair and ramming him into the apron back first as Borash tells viewers that Magnus still hasn’t decided who to “cash” the Xplosion Championship Challenge title shot in against, speculating with Taz that it is assumed to be the World Tag Team Champions.
Kaz tries a few right hands to get the upper hand, but Abyss just kicks him in the stomach, flattening Kaz again on the outside. Abyss rolls him back in the ring as the crowd gets behind Kaz. Abyss locks on a head lock, twisting it with his hands. Kaz gets back to a vertical base, but is thrown down neck first by “the Monster”, who whips Kaz hard into the corner as we go to a break.
We return with Abyss choking Kaz out on the middle rope. Referee Brian Hebner counts and attempts to persuade Abyss to break the hold, but Abyss just chases him out of the ring. Hebner looks perplexed, but extremely worried for his safety. A few big right hands are thrown at Kaz. Then, Abyss diverts his attention to Hebner again, allowing Kaz to get a strike or two in, but Abyss again just clubs Kaz to the floor. Abyss wraps his hands around the neck of Kaz in the corner, and the referee counts to four with Abyss breaking the hold. BIG running splash from Abyss, but only a two count as Kaz kicks out.
Abyss locks on the vice grip on Kaz’s head again, twisting it to the side. Kaz uses his strength to get his fingers free, getting to a vertical base and elbowing his way out of trouble. Kaz off the ropes, straight into the hand of Abyss who throttles him, preparing for the chokeslam, but Kaz manages to bite the fingers of Abyss, releasing the grip. Abyss runs in with a clothesline, ducked, springboard from Kaz, and a DDT! Both men are down now as Hebner delivers the mandatory ten count, with both rising at seven. Abyss runs in again, sees a face full of Kaz’s boot and a flurry of right hands. Kaz attempts to whip Abyss into the corner twice, both blocked by the heavy Abyss who, in turn, shoots Kaz off into the corner. Abyss follows up, but Kaz squirms out of the ring using the ropes on the left, leaving Abyss with only a turnbuckle to connect with. MASSIVE springboard dropkick from Kaz who quickly gets on for the pin, but only a two count!
Kaz in the ropes, and another springboard with a back elbow this time. Abyss rocked into the corner. Kaz runs in as Abyss moves. Kaz jumps onto the second rope. Abyss with a stiff shot to the spine. Abyss prepares for and hits the Shock Treatment! Kazarian vibrates out of the ring to the floor as the referee counts, climbing onto the apron at seven, but being knocked back to the floor by the running hip of Abyss. The ten count resumes. Kaz again gets to the apron, this time at four only to be knocked down again by Abyss, and back-bumping hard on the outside. Hebner doesn’t count this time as Abyss argues with the referee. Abyss sees Kaz on the apron, rushes in, Kaz with a shoulder to the stomach and floats over Abyss, continuing momentum into the ropes to bounce… into the throttling grip of Abyss’ chokeslam attempt again. Abyss throws him up but Kaz manages to turn it around and roll up Abyss into a pin, literally sitting on Abyss’ face! One… Two… THREE! Kaz wins it, and Abyss’ X-Division rut continues!
Winner: Kaz via Pin Fall.
After the break, we’re in for another edition of Jeremy Borash’s Spin Cycle, with Robert Roode, a belly-dancing Rosita, So Cal Val and Matt Morgan, available for viewing below.
