Hey everyone – what did you think about tonight’s HardCORE Justice pay-per-view?
For my part, I thought that the Crimson match was a gimme – nothing big going on there other than the re-emergence of Jerry Lynn. You might as well say the same about Devon and D’Angelo Dinero’s match as well as the Knockouts Tag Team Championship match. I was surprised to see Winter win the Knockouts Championship – there are a lot of interesting possibilities in that move. Also, I think that Fortune winning the six man tag team match is interesting, but I’ll wait to see how it plays out during the tapings this week before I get excited about it. And as for Kurt Angle winning the championship – I think most people saw that one coming and there’s nothing wrong with that… just sort of obvious considering that he’s been told they are building the promotion around him.
I’m particularly interested in the opinions of anyone who actually saw the show. Did you order the show? If so, why did you order it? Was there a new looking set? What should those of us who didn’t order the show know more than anything else? What was the feel of the crowd? How did the show come off on TV (or on the web if you watched it online)?
Use the comments section below and remember to put your best foot forward and be respectful. The team at TNAStars.com and I can’t wait to hear from you about tonight’s show. Enjoy!

I was really surprised that Winter won the belt. But, like I said in the predictions, I’m a big Winter fan so I’m not all that upset. 🙂

Regarding the outcome of the Angle/Sting match, I think it’s an interesting foreshadowing of how they are going to do the Hogan turn.
Hogan comes to the ring with a chair, ready to take out Sting. Angle grabs the chair, Hogan flees–Angle uses the chair on Sting, gets the championship. Angle spent a lot of time talking about a fair match. In fact Jeremy Borash even asked him last week, while watching footage of the empty arena match, who was going to get the chair this time. Angle said “I hope no one does. I want it to be a wrestling match.” I didn’t realize how much they were playing with the fans there.
What I find interesting is that Hulk Hogan didn’t look like he approved. He didn’t smile, he didn’t have that “way to see the light brother” attitude about it. Was it disappointment? It wasn’t portrayed as a planned betrayal, that Angle sold out to Immortal and it was a backroom deal. They played it more like Angle spontaneously, of his own accord, decided he would do anything to win, and the Hulkster, intentionally out of character, wasn’t thrilled.
I wonder if this is how they are going to do it: Hulk Hogan, while an adversary of Angle, respected Angle. He secretly saw in Kurt everything that he himself used to be. Sting he can’t relate too–Sting is a loose cannon, unhinged, punching people with barbed wire gloves and whacking people with baseball bats. But Angle was straight laced, an American hero, tries to always do the right thing, full of sportsmanship. Hulk saw the old Hulkamania in Kurt.
And then Kurt let him down. He used the chair, the easy way out, the easy, fast track to victory. He sacrificed his morals–just like Hulk had done to take over the company. Just like Hulk does all the time.
Is that what it is? Hulk Hogan, disappointed by Kurt Angle, realizes what Sting felt when Dixie Carter was betrayed by the man she trusted. He realizes what all the “Hulkamaniacs” felt when Hulk Hogan gave his crutch to Jeff Hardy. Even way back when, when Hulk Hogan stood next to Hall and Nash, and told his fans to stick it. He knows what it’s like now to lose a hero, someone you admire for being morally invincible. And it drives him down the road to redemption, perhaps?
I hope so, because I think it makes sense.
My major gripe about the PPV, which I none the less enjoyed, was the premise. It reminded me a bit of a WWE Extreme Rules PPV I saw a couple years back. If you call your PPV “Hardcore Justice”, then stop having so many matches where justice is enforced by the rules. Yes, there was an awesome spill through a table and what not, but I’m big on living up to the theme of a show. It always bothered me whenever I saw a Survivor Series with no Survivor Series matches. Know what I mean?

On an added note, if Immortal is still around after October, I hope Angle moves in and runs that faction. Like a new version of the Main Event Mafia, but, you know … more like just the Mafia, where you’ve got big scary guys who will hurt people because they are loyal and you pay them well.

Wow Dylan. That analysis of the main event was kick ass.
Because, like, I was definitely mind blown at how Angle won it. And I was definitely confused as to why it went down like that. But I think you hit the nail square on the head with that one.

Thanks! If I’m wrong, then at least it’s an interesting theory.
