How meeting The Insane Clown Posse gave him a “whole new perspective” in life & what “The Gathering of the Juggalos” means to him: “I had a weekend that lasted about three years. You have to figure out your purpose in life. I met (Violent) J, and we bonded right off the bat. He gave me a whole new perspective on how to look at everything. With the help of that and some other people I met in my life, I found my purpose in life. It’s all about family & friends. Since J gave me that perspective, since finding that whole subculture, and being a family and finding a purpose, I’ll be loyal for life. It goes deeper than music. It’s personal. ‘The Gathering’ to me is life, getting together with your family on Thanksgiving.”
His experience of working with Adam Sandler in his next summer blockbuster “Donny’s Boy”: “It’s been really good. Adam’s easy to work with. He’s down to earth. When I first met him, I thought ‘How is this guy going to be?’ You only know what you see on the big screen, so I was wondering. I came in from London, because I’ve been living there for the last seven months filming a show. I came to LA to meet with him, and we just sat down, and chilled out, and it reminded me of ‘Happy Gilmore.’ He’s just like that, and it’s always smiles around him. The movie is going to be hilarious. I still can’t believe how funny the script is.”
Why he has enjoyed collaborating with The DIY Network on “The Vanilla Ice Project”: How did Ice get involved with the Vanilla Ice Project and what can fans expect from the new season of the show: “One of things I’ve done to not end up like MC Hammer was I made good investments. I didn’t blow my money, I put it to good use, went out, researched, and read books. I go to seminars about how to invest in real estate. The market has turned. I think it’s the best time to invest in real estate now, because you have short sales, foreclosures, & tax liens, so you could get houses for cheap. I’ve had success for about 15 years, and finally we put a camera on it. We’ve got the highest ratings on the DIY Network, and I’m very proud of it. It’s going to be fantastic this season.”
The most important life lesson that he has learned: “One the greatest things I’ve learned is that yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. You can’t go back and change what you did yesterday, because it already happened. You can’t go and change what you do tomorrow or the next day, so don’t worry about it. Take it day by day, and enjoy it. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is this phrase: ‘We are who we are, because of who we were.’ I just gave you thousands of dollars worth of therapy for free. Everything that’s happened in my past, all the negatives that have happened in my past, I’ve turned to positives by accepting that I can’t go back and change them, so what do I do with them? I learn from them.”
Much more is contained in Vanilla Ice’s exclusive interview with The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including his candid thoughts on next weekend’s “Gathering of the Juggalos” event, whom he is most excited to see there amongst the worlds of music, entertainment, & professional wrestling, what his fans can expect during the second season of “The Vanilla Ice Project” on the DIY Network and from the release of his forthcoming album (“WTF”), the 30th anniversary of MTV and his relationship with the network over the past three decades (the good & the bad), the real story behind “The Surreal Life” blow up between himself & Ron Jeremy and how it was not as “Real” as you might think, his most overlooked album that he believes the public has not given enough recognition to over the years, plus so much more!
