TNA X-Division Championship
Brian Kendrick vs. Abyss
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Out of all the matches announced, this is the only one I can say will be boring.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Kendrick wins
Joe’s Thoughts: The old school wrestling fan in me hopes that the championship match will be the main event, but the realist in me realizes that this match won’t be as exciting as AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels. That said, I think that TNA Wrestling has done a decent job of trying to build up this feud when seemingly no one cares (I do!).
Joe’s Prediction: It’s an X-Division pay-per-view, so I have to go with the X-Division guy – Kendrick.
Mark’s Thoughts: Abyss has seemingly been resorting back to his monster ways and dropping the Art of War gimmick. Thus, Kendrick will overcome. Weird logic, I know, but that’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
Mark’s Prediction: Brian Kendrick
Scott’s Thoughts: This one is bound to have a fair bit of blood shed and Abyss’ “art of war” schtick is an interesting detail.
Scott’s Prediction: Brian Kendrick
William’s Thoughts:

Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This would be so much better if it was Face vs. Heel. Daniels has all the material! He was fired from TNA, AJ is a multiple time champion, in his last match with AJ, he’s going to prove why he is the best in the world. Instead it’s a love fest on Spike! This is more than likely the main event, but it doesn’t feel like it due to the lack of story or build. It’s pure nostalgia.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Styles
Joe’s Thoughts: There’s no doubt about the fact that these two men can light up any wrestling ring in the world, but will they be able to perform during tonight’s pay-per-view? Is tonight’s X-Division-only pay-per-view too much pressure for these two guys? I don’t know. But what I do know is that this is going to be a five star match with no questions asked. Contemporary professional wrestling at its best.
Joe’s Prediction: There’s no reason for Christopher Daniels to win the match, so this one has to go to AJ Styles.
Mark’s Thoughts: Obviously can go either way. Daniels has kinda sorta fell out of the picture (as did Fortune as a whole…), so this does have rivalry potential.
Mark’s Prediction: AJ Styles
Scott’s Thoughts: Another instant classic? Potentially. When these two get in the ring together magic happens! I see all the stops being pulled out for this one.
Scott’s Prediction: AJ Styles
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: AJ Styles
Jarrett’s Thoughts: For a match that could have sold the show, they just announced it in a video package and that is it. Underselling is a major theme of this PPV.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Shelly
Joe’s Thoughts: This match has the potential to be worth the price of the pay-per-view all by itself. Yet, we didn’t even know it was going to be featured on the show until a few days ago. Sad, but it is what it is… This one is going to be a barn burner.
Joe’s Prediction: I’ve admitted that I’m a mark for TNA Wrestling, but I’m also a big fan of my fellow Jersey Shore guy, Robbie E. That said, I think I have to go with Amazing Red on this one.
Mark’s Thoughts: I love PPV matches that lack any kind of buildup. Those are usually the hardest ones to read, and thus come with at least two surprises.
Mark’s Prediction: Alex Shelley
Scott’s Thoughts: I always love Ultimate X. Be ready for some sick falls from the structure in this one.
Scott’s Prediction: Alex Shelley
William’s Thoughts:

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn
Jarrett’s Thoughts: This is another match that has given barely any hype, and has been nothing but a love fest. Call me crazy, but a good story can go a long way.
Jarrett’s Prediction: RVD
Joe’s Thoughts: Both RVD and Jerry Lynn probably are a step slower than they used to be 15 years ago when they started lighting up ECW. However, when you consider that they were about 10 steps quicker than anyone else in the professional wrestling business, you have the makings of what could be a really phenomenal match.
Joe’s Prediction: Jerry Lynn is great, but he’s not in the promotion for the long-term. This one goes to RVD.
Mark’s Thoughts: I watched that 4-way on Thursday… Jerry Lynn moves very well. This should be good.
Mark’s Prediction: RVD
Scott’s Thoughts: These two set the ring alight during their many feuds in the old ECW but time hasn’t been kind to either man. I still see some great wrestling but a little slow for X Division style.
Scott’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
Samoa Joe vs. Kazarian
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Joe has become the resident jobber in Impact Wrestling lately, and that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Joe
Joe’s Thoughts: This one is interesting because either of these guys could win and I don’t see a major storyline progression either way. Does this match count for points in the Bound for Glory Series? If so, then at least there’s something worth fighting for in this one. If not, then I guess pride will have to be enough.
Joe’s Prediction: Kazarian
Mark’s Thoughts: Samoa Joe has been jobbing for a ridiculously long time. Kazarian, like the rest of Fourtune, slid off the map a bit. Personally, I’d book Samoa Joe to win this match, but then again, I wouldn’t book him to lose against Devon… no offense to you Devon fans out there.
Mark’s Prediction: Kaz
Scott’s Thoughts: Hard hitting and plenty of submission moves from Joe. Kazarian really needs a win but I can’t see it happening.
Scott’s Prediction: Samoa Joe
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Kazarian
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I hope Ion doesn’t win. Now my field is narrowed down to three: Jack Evans, currently wrestling in AAA; Austin Aries, one of the best free agents in pro wrestling; and Kaval/Lo-Ki/Senshi, formerly a WWE Superstar that won season two of NXT and WWE screwed up so bad that he asked for his release. Now he is a hot commodity on the indy circuit. I doubt Evans would leave Mexico to come to TNA.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Aries
Joe’s Thoughts: If you follow the storyline, then the mark in me wants each of these guys to win the contract. However, if you follow reality, then you know that only one can win and the only one who probably is properly positioned to come to TNA Wrestling and be a full-time competitor is Austin Aries, so he’s my pick. I expect some amazing moves in this match and I fully expect for this match to live up to its potential to be a match of the year candidate.
Joe’s Prediction: Austin Aries
Mark’s Thoughts: Austin Aries looks like he’s going to be a complete, yet competitive clown if he were to win the contract. But I’m still mind blown by Jack Evans’ performance on Thursday… I want him in.
Mark’s Prediction: Jack Evans
Scott’s Thoughts: These four men are going to leave it all in the ring. Sure only one contract is available on the night but I see TNA signing more than one of these guys if the match shines.
Scott’s Prediction: Jack Evans
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Low Ki

William B. West says
I’m really hopeful that the open challenge opponent will be a true surprise. Fingers crossed it’s Desmond Wolfe and TNA has swerved us about his release.
Joe says
You know, if you look at the silhouette, I’m pretty confident that it’s a picture of Brutus Magnus. However, I know that it’s just a silhouette and that it wouldn’t make any sense to have the two tag team partners battling it out. But I’m pretty damn sure that’s who it is in that picture.
gudge says
I’m calling Homicide as the mystery man – fits into the Mexican America feud.
William B. West says
Joe,
I thought the silhouette looks likes Brutus as well but my hope is that isn’t the case, as you said that wouldn’t make any sense.
gudge,
Homicide would be a nice surprise. I’ve seen a few sites speculate it would be Chavo Guerrero, but unless WWE has changed their 90 day non-compete clause that is not a possibility.
