TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Mr. Anderson vs. Sting
Dillon’s Thoughts: I’ve enjoyed the build up, as both Sting and Anderson specialize in intensity in their promos. I believe that was one of the reasons Sting vs. Ric Flair is such a legendary feud – not only were the matches good but the promos were too.
Dillon’s Prediction: As much as I want Anderson to win and have a nice, long reign to establish himself as an elite…I think Sting will retain.
Joe’s Thoughts: The buildup to this match has been fun to watch only because Mr. Anderson looks just like Classic Sting when he dresses up in that costume. But just because Mr. Anderson looks like Sting doesn’t mean that he’s going to get the belt back. For all of the reasons that Jeff Hardy held the belt for a few months, I think Sting is keeping this strap until Bound for Glory.
Joe’s Prediction: Sting
Mark’s Thoughts: Well, I’m sure that Anderson won’t be mocking Sting again. Additionally, I think Sting keeps the title so that, you know, he can deal with Immortal, who I feel isn’t even that big of a threat to anything right now, even with “the Network” gone.
Mark’s Prediction: Sting
Scott’s Thoughts: A Mr Anderson win will make it more intriguing as a feud due to Sting having to go on the offensive.
Scott’s Prediction: Mr Anderson
Dillon’s Thoughts: Where has the British Invasion been? I’ve missed them, and with Inc Ink disappearing, we need more tag teams. The pairing of Shelley and Storm is interesting, and I like it as it gives Shelley something to do.
Dillon’s Prediction: This is a tough one. Beer Money has been champs so long, I’d hate to see them lose to the British Invasion. That’s not a knock on them, not at all, they’ve just had really no build up to a title match. And to win the belts from the best team in with world with no previous feud…I can see Shelley accidentally costing BM the belts, but my gut says Storm & Shelley will win and retain.
Joe’s Thoughts: Ugh. You can’t just give the belts to the British Invasion, but there has to be some type of future storyline dissension brewing between Alex Shelley and James Storm. Here’s what I think… First, if the British Invasion wins, it’ll be because Rob Terry comes out and supports his fellow Brits. He’d rant and rave about being overlooked in Immortal, etc. However, I also think that Alex Shelley can easily become a heel (he has the look). Wait, so if he can become a heel very easily and he’s teaming with a guy that’s not his regular tag team partner… Nah, that’s too easy to predict.
Joe’s Prediction: James Storm and Alex Shelley
Mark’s Thoughts: I was laughing at Tazz calling out the British Invasion for being handed a title shot without having beating anyone. Additionally, I like the potential of Alex Shelly and James Storm as a team.
Mark’s Prediction: BEER!- I mean… GUN! MONAY!
Scott’s Thoughts: Storm/Shelley to win which will lead to Roode becoming envious and turning on Storm down the line.
Scott’s Prediction: James Storm and Alex Shelley
Dillon’s Thoughts: Personally I think the zombie Angelina gimmick should have ended when the Winter/Angelina/Velvet Sky program did. However I do like the “She hurt me, now go avenge me” aspect of this Winter/Angelina/Mickie storyline.
Dillon’s Prediction: Mickie James will retain simply because there was so much build up to her winning the title. Remember the 1,375 matches she had with (then) champion Madison Rayne? I don’t think they’ll take the belt off of her so soon. Then again, how many minutes was Mr. Anderson TNA Wold Champion?
Joe’s Thoughts: I’ve become a huge Winter fan, so I’m glad that she’ll be accompanying Angelina Love to the ring. And how hot is Angelina, by the way? Oh, wait. This is a pay-per-view prediction article? Oh, ummm…
Joe’s Prediction: Mickie James
Mark’s Thoughts: Not sure how you beat someone who no-sells the majority of your offense… but I think that Mickie will find a way.
Mark’s Prediction: Mickie James
Scott’s Thoughts: James has made no impression as KO champ and I sense the Love/Winter story reaching a climax soon. Winter interferes and Love wins.
Scott’s Prediction: Angelina Love
TNA X-Division Championship
Kendrick vs. Abyss vs. Kazarian
Dillon’s Thoughts: I think this will be a pretty fun match. Two X-Division stars vs. a giant. Because it’s on a PPV, I’m hoping it won’t be a squash. I hope we see something fresh in this match.
Dillon’s Prediction: I want Kendrick to do two things. One = drop the weird gimmick and two, become X-Division champion. I’m not sure if it will happen at this PPV, but he’s been the lead figure in the X-Division’s comeback. So I’m going with Kendrick for the win.
Joe’s Thoughts: TNA Wrestling has been putting a lot of emphasis on Brian Kendrick lately – even giving him a backstage segment with Eric Bischoff. In truth, Kazarian didn’t do much with the X-Division Championship while he carried the belt, so I don’t think he’s going to take home the victory. And Abyss – well, he needs to put those bottom teeth back in already. He looks dumb.
Joe’s Prediction: Kendrick
Mark’s Thoughts: X-Division or, as Abyss called it, Xtreme? I do love the change that Abyss made… no need for Janice? Awesome. Kendrick seeing the poetry in Abyss’s new character? Brilliant.
Mark’s Prediction: Might as well juice this… Abyss keeps the belt via the Sun Tzu principle of indirect combat.
Scott’s Thoughts: Kendrick’s character seems to be building nicely and a win here could inject some intrigue into the X Division. Brutal match with plenty of high spots.
Scott’s Prediction: Kendrick
#1 Contender’s Match
Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle
Dillon’s Thoughts: These two have great matches, but I’m glad it’s finally coming to an end.
Dillon’s Prediction: Kurt Angle wins. I hope Karen doesn’t appear and truly is off TV now, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her show up.
Joe’s Thoughts: Thankfully, TNA Wrestling is promoting this match as the final battle between these two (I don’t believe it – they’ll fight again). With Kurt Angle signing a new, three-year contract, I have to imagine that he gets the win and the title shot. Is this still a #1 Contender’s Match, by the way?
Joe’s Prediction: Kurt Angle
Mark’s Thoughts: JJ and Angle are gonna mess around and have this be the match of the night. JJ’s mic work on Thursday almost had me believe that he was going to win this match, and then Angle pretty much said, “Chill out, I got this.”
Mark’s Prediction: Kurt Angle.
Scott’s Thoughts: With this hopefully being the final match between the two Angle needs a win here. Also with him disappearing soon to train for next year’s Olympics, he needs a title shot now.
Scott’s Prediction: Kurt Angle
Dillon’s Thoughts: This feud has been interesting. Too bad Tommy Dreamer is supposedly leaving. Bully Ray and AJ have a pretty good mesh of styles.
Dillon’s Prediction: AJ wins after a brutal match.
Joe’s Thoughts: This one is going to be ugly. No, not ugly like watching Chris Harris wrestle – I mean ugly like watching an old school, original ECW bloodbath. Should be a hoot!
Joe’s Prediction: AJ Styles
Mark’s Thoughts: AJ’s in Bully Ray’s head. Furthermore, I’m secretly an AJ Styles mark. So I’m going to be upset if AJ loses this.
Mark’s Prediction: AJ Styles.
Scott’s Thoughts: Plenty of blood in this one and I sense a “mark out” Spiral Tap spot. AJ will get the win despite an Immortal interference.
Scott’s Prediction: AJ Styles
Scott Steiner vs. Matt Morgan
Dillon’s Thoughts: All I can say here is that Matt Morgan has my sympathies. He went from having an amazing match with Kurt Angle and a move to the main event spot a year+ ago and now he’s wrestling Scott Steiner over who knows what.
Dillon’s Prediction: Matt Morgan for the win. Please. I’m begging you!
Joe’s Thoughts: It’s always hard for me to choose anyone going against my fellow Monmouth University alumnus, Matt Morgan. For some reason I feel like Scott Steiner is going to take this one, but I’m going with Morgan anyway.
Joe’s Prediction: Matt Morgan
Mark’s Thoughts: They kind of stopped putting too much into this feud. I think Matt should win though.
Mark’s Prediction: Matt Morgan
Scott’s Thoughts: The first match in a series will see Steiner get the pin. Morgan will push him close though to keep credibility.
Scott’s Prediction: Steiner wins
Dillon’s Thoughts: After a pretty bad angle with Pope that it seems nobody got behind, this feud with Crimson has caught at least my attention. Two violent brawlers just going at it. I like it. However I’m conflicted because I want to see Crimson elevated but I want Joe to get back to the top of the card as well.
Dillon’s Prediction: I’m going to go against my gut and say that Joe will get the win and end the streak of Crimson.
Joe’s Thoughts: The streak isn’t breaking this quick. Plus, Crimson has an amazing swell of grassroots fans and I think TNA Wrestling is going to give them what they want.
Joe’s Prediction: Crimson
Mark’s Thoughts: Too soon for the streak to be broken, so Crimson will win. Hopefully they’ll put up a physical, entertaining match regardless. I also hope that they continue this and build it up a bit more with Joe’s loss, adding some kind of extra jealously to Joe to fuel his undying fire.
Mark’s Prediction: Crimson
Scott’s Thoughts: TNA seem to be pinning a lot on Crimson and I can see why. The guy has the look and an intensity that gets over with the fans. Sure he’s not the polished article but Samoa Joe will make him look good in this one.
Scott’s Prediction: Crimson
