Earlier this week, William reported on some comments from Hulk Hogan during the Right After Wrestling Radio Show on Sirius XM. Some additional information has been transcribed from this interview and passed around the internet. This additional information deals directly with Hulk Hogan’s thoughts on TNA Wrestling’s possible rebranding efforts.
On Changing the Promotion’s Name to Impact Wrestling:
“I personally thought it was a good idea because every time I went in a business meeting, the first five minutes of the business meeting, I would say, ‘I’m with TNA Wrestling.’ And they would look at me. ‘No, it’s not tits and ass. It’s Total Nonstop Action.’ So, every time I had a business meeting, the first five or ten or 15 minutes, you’d have to explain yourself. For business reasons, I think it’s a great – very good – idea to change.”
Clearly, Hogan wants to change the name of the promotion to Impact Wrestling. This directly conflicts with a comment that Jeff Jarrett made via his Twitter account. Jarrett indicated that only the name of the television show – iMPACT! – was changing to Impact Wrestling.

Good to see a hint of a whole company re-branding. I was a bit confused at first when I found out it was only the TV shows “iMPACT” that was changing to “iMPACT… Wrestling”. “GASP! That IS re-branding!” That’s the first thing that came to my mind.
But now it looks like the Hulkster wants to change it all, I hope they can do it successfully. Hopefully they can iron out a few big faults on this idea though. What will Xplosion be known as from now on? Impact Xplosion Wrestling?! What about the belts? Sure, they could just re-design the belts. Keep the current world title design though and just replace the letters “TNA” with “IW” or something. Merchandise will need an overhall. As will all the websites associated with the letters “TNA” and such.
And what about the viewers? They will search for TNA on the TV, but will only see “IMPACT WRESTLING”. Casual’s will be confused. Hell, Kurt Angle’s theme will need to be edited (in part of the lyrics the singer says “you can see him every Thursday night in TNA”. I know, not much of an issue, but still).
