The final cable rating and viewership estimates for this week’s episode of iMPACT! on Spike TV are now available. The company’s flagship show had a decrease in both its final ratings number and overall viewership. This week’s episode of the show scored a final cable rating of 1.10 which represented about 1,510,000 viewers over the course of the show’s two hours. This week’s final rating is 0.07 of a point lower (and about 220,000 less viewers) than last week’s episode, which scored a final cable rating of 1.17 with an average audience of 1,730,000 viewers
When we know more about the ratings breakdown, we’ll report how the show rated in each of its two hours. TNA Wrestling on Spike TV had more viewers this past Thursday night than programming on other cable channels like A&E, Showtime, and the NFL Network. The NFL Network is an interesting channel to have beaten on Thursday night since iMPACT! was head-to-head against the NFL Draft. However, the aggregated draft viewership between the NFL Network and the other outlets where this year’s Draft was available is, I’m sure, humungous.
For comparison’s sake, TNAStars.com used to promote a completely fictitious Thursday Night War as a comedy piece on this website. WWE may have won the short-lived 2010 Monday Night War, but TNA Wrestling won the 2010 – 2011 Thursday Night War!
If you’re interested in iMPACT!’s ratings performance for 2010 and the first half of 2011, then check out TNAStars.com’s Ratings War area. In the Ratings War area you can see a comparison of iMPACT! vs. Monday Night RAW and iMPACT! vs. Superstars from all of 2010 and 2011. Enjoy!

Why does this keep happening to TNA? What are they doing so wrong that turns the fans off and on? I really cannot pick out a single flaw thats really bad enough to keep them from getting past a 1.5 on a constant basis.

TNA Impact only beat WWE Superstars, a 30 min. show?! I thought TNA Impact was a flagship show it would only go up against a D-Rated show?! I mean they couldn’t go up against Tough Enough or Smackdown, they’re flagship shows….oh wait now I remember there was one flagship show of WWE that beat TNA Impact…..oh yeah that would be RAW!!!
I mean the THursday Night War 2, I mean Smackdown vs. Thunder, hey how come TNA Impact never got 2 million viewers or a 2.0 rating in that war….oh yeah it keeps get beat by Fairly Legal, NBA Playoffs, NFL Draft, Jersey Shore, Swamp People, Real Housewives of NYC, Mounted in Alaska, and America’s Best Dance Crew.

OCO300 – Superstars was a one hour show. And I guess you missed the line that said, “a completely fictitious Thursday Night War as a comedy piece…”
But that’s okay – thanks for the comment!

I think that iMPACT! has a lot of issues to overcome that aren’t necessarily “well-known” or common for the average wrestling fan. For example, when Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair first came into the promotion, they were all saying (pretty immediately) that Spike TV doesn’t provide the type of promotion that USA provides to WWE. It would be really hard for us to know much about that other than what we hear second and third hand from the Bischoffs, Hogans, and Flairs of the company, but I expect that the support that Spike TV provides is probably not at the same level as these guys are used to getting.
Also, in a previous conversation on one of these comments areas we had a discussion about the fact that Spike TV isn’t available in some markets. In fact, as I recall from that conversation we learned that Spike TV wasn’t even one of the Top 25 cable channels in terms of its reach whereas USA was in the Top 10 (or higher – I don’t remember).
However, at the end of the day I think that many of the factors we’ve discussed on TNAStars.com all help play into the two issues above (i.e. the iMPACT! Zone sucks, too many pay-per-views, need to be on the road more often, etc).

I think having a non seasoned professional like Karen Jarrett in the opening segment as well as the opening segment in general is part of last weeks problem.
Karen does well considering here limited time performing, but I don’t think a green performer should be a major focus of the opening segment.
The show should start off with a bang and with top tier professionals whether it be work rate or mic skills. They need to engage people, I found the skit boring, if I was a casual viewer or a first time watcher I would have turned the dial.
I am a huge TNA fan but it seems like they miss on the fundamentals.
