Many internet wrestling “news” boards were quick to report last week that Ric Flair had surgery to have his torn rotator cuff fixed. There was no way to confirm this information as it was never reported by a reputable source. And – as if we couldn’t call this one coming a mile away – that “news” has been refuted by a very reliable source.
On April 23rd, Jim Ross posted the following to his Twitter account:
While @ the gym yesterday got a text from ‘Naitch’ who was checking on my ‘wrestling’ status. BTW Ric has a horrid shoulder but no surgery.
So, once again, the internet wrestling world’s “reporters” were quick to copy and paste the wrong information in an effort to draw more hits to their websites. As Ross reports above, Flair did not have surgery to fix his turn rotator cuff. The vast majority of the internet got this story wrong.
As we’ve written here in the past – be careful what you read and where you read it. The majority of the “news” websites out there aren’t concerned about quality, but rather the quantity of your visits. It’s pathetic.
