The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium this Saturday, April 23, to open an eight-game homestand against the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals affiliate) and Albuquerque Isotopes (Dodgers affiliate).
Highlighting the week’s worth of promotions will be three fireworks shows, four Reading Club Games, Taco Bell Throwback Thursday, the first Autograph Day of the 2011 season, and “Paint the Park Purple Night” – a special Alzheimer’s Awareness evening at the ballpark during which the Sounds will wear purple jerseys on the field.
Saturday’s 6:35 p.m. homestand opener begins with bang, as a postgame fireworks show lights up the sky following the action on the field, courtesy of Nashville’s NEWS2. It also marks the first Reading Club game of the season. With nearly 65,000 students from over 225 different schools enrolled in the program, thousands of local kids will be in attendance. TNA founder and wrestling star Jeff Jarrett will be in attendance as a guest speaker to promote the importance of reading before the game as well as signing autographs with Sounds Mascot Ozzie. Gates open at 5:35 p.m. Tickets available at (615) 690-HITS or visit www.nashvillesounds.com.
