The Pilot – a North Carolina newspaper based out of Southern Pines – is reporting that former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy‘s drug case has been postponed once again. Apparently, Hardy’s attorney requested the delay as he wants to wait for the results of a drug treatment assessment to be compiled. The new date for Hardy’s trial is June 27, 2011.

The drug case against pro wrestler Jeff Hardy was postponed yet again today after his lawyer asked for time to have a drug treatment assessment done.
Jim Van Camp told Senior Resident Judge James Webb this was only an option under consideration.
“There has been no assessment yet,” Van Camp said. “Becky Carlson … needs some time.”
Carlson, the district administrator for the 19-B J.D. Sentencing Services Program, became involved only recently. She will form her own judgement as to whether Hardy needs drug dependent therapy, get another view from an expert and recommend a treatment plan. All that takes time she said.
The motion has been put on the court calendar for June 27.
Moore County sheriff’s deputies arrested the world champion wrestler in September 2009 after a search of his home in Cameron discovered quantities of illegal drugs, including prescription Vicodin and Soma, a quantity of anabolic steroids, a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
At the time, Hardy was charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A Moore County grand jury later indicted Hardy.
The cases against Hardy have been continued a number of times, including three times during this year. Hardy has remained free on bail pending his day in court.
Hardy, 32, and his brother, Matt, wrestling as the Hardy Boyz, were six-time World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Champions. Individually, Jeff Hardy held the WWE World Champion belt at one time and the World Heavyweight Championship twice.

i love Jeff Hardy, and I have since he premiered. But it’s fairly obvious to anyone who saw the Victory Road ppv that he has a problem. He’s been released from WWE twice because of it, and it’ll be a miracle if TNA doesn’t release him too. He needs to get help if he ever wants to be taken seriously again.

Thanks for the feedback guys. According to a recent interview with TNA World Champ Sting, Jeff is getting back on the right track:
