Hey everyone – what did you think about tonight’s Lockdown pay-per-view?
From my perspective, the show seemed to be a good one, though I’ll leave the final assessment up to those who actually saw it (or were in attendance, like TNAStars.com’s own William B. West). I thought the quick finish to the Mickie James vs. Madison Rayne match was interesting – I’m predicting that we’ll see Rayne ranting and raving about her being robbed of the championship and demanding it be returned to her (hey, haven’t we seen that before?). I’m glad to have AJ Styles back in the mix – iMPACT! isn’t the same without the best wrestler on the planet!
So did you order the show? If so, why did you order it? Were you there live? What did you like about the show? What should those of us who didn’t order the show know more than anything else?
Use the comments section below and remember to put your best foot forward and be respectful. The team at TNAStars.com and I can’t wait to hear from you about tonight’s show. Enjoy!

I ordered the show- it was good. Even though Angle lost I think the Jarret v Angle match was one of the better fights on the card.

It was great. Solid matches, solid storytelling, everything was good.
*Cue the TNA haters bashing the PPV and our opinions on the matter.

I ordered the PPV–and as with all TNA ppvs I watched it with my newly-converted-to-wrestling-girlfriend, and we both enjoyed it thoroughly.
The most entertaining match of the night, for me, was the main event Lockdown match, which is as it should be, right? Daniels leaping off the top of the cage roof onto Abyss and Matt Hardy on the outside was awesome, and it was indeed great to witness the return of AJ Styles, perhaps my favorite wrestler in TNA right now.
What was great about the end of that match was the way they told it. AJ rushes into the ring while his allies in Fortune have been beaten down by the antagonist Bully Ray. He sends Ray into the cage, gets his revenge … but Flair was sneaking up on him from behind. It was a great camera shot, AJ celebrating, but behind him, looking deranged, was Ric Flair covered in blood, his hands raised and ready to put them around AJ’s neck. At that moment Robert Roode grabbed Flair by the hair, and that was when Beer Money got their super kick and arm bar submission for the win. It was great because it told the story that “this time, we’ve got your back AJ.”
The Triple Threat match for the TNA Championship was a good, entertaining match with some cool spots. I didn’t mind that it wasn’t a long one.
Mickey James and Madison was surprisingly short, of course, but I imagine this was because of James’s real life shoulder injury. I wonder though about that. If Mickey James wasn’t in good enough condition to wrestle a long match, is she in good enough condition to defend the championship consistently? I would have rather she been replaced by Tara, and I thought that’s what they were going to do. None the less Mickey James is a great wrestler and performer, and she absolutely deserves to finally get the gold.
I’m not sure why Inc Inc won the tag-match. They’ve already had their shot at the titles, and I don’t know where the friction between Neal and Moore is going. I don’t see Jesse Neal succeeding on his own as the nice guy with a mohawk who claps when he gets arm dragged. What they need to do is have the Prince of Punk finally get through to him. Jesse Neal needs to not be the honorable military man, but rather the military man who snaps, has flashbacks, and tears people apart. The nice guy exterior needs to be a facade, and Shannon Moore needs to tap into Jesse’s inner kill-a-mofo-soldier persona. Then we’ll have a truly compelling tag-team.
Anyway, that’s what I can think of off the top of my head. As much as I’m going to get bashed for saying it, I’m sorry but I enjoyed this one much more than Wrestlemania.

I loved the show. The last 3 matches were worth the price of admission alone.
I was in awe as always of Ric Flair. He did the same spots he has always done, and there were people in the crowd murmuring about how they expected the same move set. When it happened they were on their feet like all of us.
My wife an I commented on how we hoped the kids understood what it means to see Flair in action. In my mind it’s equivalent to have seen Babe Ruth, or Elvis Presley. He is the best at what he does.

I spent the entire weekend following TNA along with a good friend of mine. Enjoyed the whole experience. From the Mickie signing on Friday night, to the fan interaction on Saturday, to the event on Sunday. TNA puts on one hell of a show hands down. I watched Mania this year as it’s a b-day tradition for me and they had some good matches. But I have to say that Lockdown by far passed WrestleMania. The fans here in Cincy are very patient and respectful when it comes to wrestling. They’re passionate like a Philly crowd and quite like a Japanese crowd. How ever I got the feeling that new and old fans came together this night. A lot of people here didn’t know what TNA was until Lockdown showed them what only a few of us knew of several years prior in their Gardens events..
Steiner, Hogan, Flair, and AJ were the best pops of the night. The crowd was like a roller coaster with their reactions. They were attentive to the matches and when they were taken by something they let the boys know it. There were some rally chants scattered all over the building for different things which was good. People cringed at the more risky spots and hardest hits. Loads of laughs as there were tons of asses hanging out. (Pope, Flair, and Sarita)
It was good to see Sting and Flair both in Cincy for the first time since 1996. It was also great to see a lot of the same talent that was at the two house shows in 2007 and 2008. I really enjoyed the X-Division, Tag, World Title, Angle/Jarrett, and Lockdown matches. Morgan/Hernandez was ok, but it was a big man match of course. The women’s match was too short. Pope/Joe was physically brutal but the people were weakly behind Joe and showed nothing for Pope. I feel people were expecting Joe to take the win here.
The Bischoff promo was hard to hear if you were higher up from the floor, but the chants towards him were great. People ate him alive considering most of those people clammered for his John Henry during the main event fan fest.. Very few promos through out the night, as Fortune spoke over the pre show. No Immortal reply. Morgan/Hernandez promo, Madison and Tara, and Steiner/Crimson.
It was fast paced from start to finish and amazing. Got to get the replay if you didn’t see it, got to snag the DVD for your collection because this is one event people will refer to for a long time.

Wow – thanks for the awesome report, Travis! It sounds like you had a great time at Lockdown throughout the entire weekend. The few times that TNA Wrestling has come to the Jersey Shore, I’ve had similar experiences. Two of my buddies and I even ran into Jeff Hardy at one of the local bars after the show and he was great to interact with and took time to say hello (though he was looking for a cigarette, so he didn’t stick around too long).
Thanks again for the report – I’m glad to hear that you had an awesome time!
