The final cable ratings for last night’s episode of iMPACT! on Spike TV are now available and the company’s flagship show generally maintained its week-to-week audience, though there was a significant drop in overall viewership. Last night’s episode of the show scored a final cable rating of 1.15 which represents about 1,528,000 viewers over the course of the show’s two hours. This week’s final rating is 0.03 of a point lower (and about 142,000 less viewers) than last week’s episode, which scored a final cable rating of 1.18 with an average audience of 1,670,000 viewers.
We also know a little bit about the ratings breakdown by hour from this week’s show. The first hour of this week’s iMPACT! on Spike TV scored a final cable rating of 1.14 while the second hour scored a final cable rating of 1.16. TNA Wrestling on Spike TV had more viewers last night than programming on other cable channels like A&E, SyFy, and FX.
For comparison’s sake, TNAStars.com promotes a completely fictitious Thursday Night War as a comedy piece on this website (a war, by the way, that TNA Wrestling already won). With that in mind, this week’s episode of Superstars scored a final cable rating of 0.57 on WGN America. The 0.57 cable rating represents a total audience of 606,000 viewers.
If you’re interested in iMPACT!’s ratings performance for 2010 and the first quarter of 2011, then check out TNAStars.com’s Ratings War area. In the Ratings War area you can see a comparison of iMPACT! vs. Monday Night RAW and iMPACT! vs. Superstars from all of 2010 and 2011. Enjoy!

While I am an absolute TNA fanboy (but you already knew that;)) even I have felt a bit let down ever since TNA returning to the iMPACT zone.
Since they’ve returned from Fayetteville, things have seemed a little… dull. I think a lot of people are feeling the same and that might be showing the decrease in the ratings? The only good part that made me Mark out was Bully Ray damn-near killing AJ Styles. Everything has become a bit stale, IMO. I’m just waiting for the day that this Immortal/Fortune storyline is over so that we can get back to lone-wolf type wrestlers if you know what I mean. Less factions would make a nice change (though I love the Mexican-America faction).
Maybe its the move back into the iMPACT Zone that’s made people realize the big difference between the Fayetteville shows and now the current ones? I never knew how small and annoying that iMPACT Zone was until they came back to it. I know that’s one of the reasons for sure in my book.

Why does people follow wrestling?
Because they LOVE someone they follow, or they HATE someone they need to follow.
TNA dosent have a big big babyface or a big big heel.
RVD, Sting, Ken Anderson, Jeff Hardy is the closest to that.
But do they got big fanbases? Not that much.
Also the small crowd dosent make it better, everyone knows how important the crowd is for a wrestlingmatch.
Hogan vs Rock must have been the best crowdmatch ever.
No more Tommy Dreamers or this Fallen Angel Daniels or who in the hell he is?
Build up big big faces and big big heels.

Great comments guys. A lot of varied opinions. I have to wonder if the increase in adult language and story lines has a little bit to do with it as well? TNA has obviously made a concentrated effort in the last few weeks to up the ante on the “cursing”. The Pope religious boundary storyline could also be upsetting to many more moderate or religious folks.
I’m assuming this is a strategy to bring in more of an “attitude era” type audience. I’m not saying it is a bad idea there is definitely an audience for edgy content but until that audience finds you , it’s quite possible to lose general audience viewership.

I generally agree with everyone in this comment section – there’s something about that iMPACT! Zone that irks me. Rubs me the wrong way. It’s too small, it’s too packed with biased, and it’s too bush league-looking. And here’s the thing – just like Fayetteville, there are some smaller arenas out there around the country that would LOVE to get an iMPACT! taping. For example in New Jersey on the shore you Convention Hall in Asbury Park, Convention Hall in Atlantic City, or the MAC Center in West Long Branch.
Anything is better than that iMPACT! Zone and its lame crowd.

no argument that tapings outside the impact zone were popular. But I cannot agree that the fans in the impact zone are to blame for the shortcomings posted here. those fans are enthusiastic about the “non-stop” action while seeing little in-ring tv action. As long as tna operates in the red there won’t be many tv tapings outside the impact zone. I’d rather they put the ring outside at Disney and tape occasionally.
Joe says
Well, to each their own, Matt. I wouldn’t suggest that the fans in the iMPACT! Zone are entirely to blame for the declining interest in the show, but their know-it-all, “I’ll counter-program your storylines at any cost” attitude certainly isn’t helping the product. Sure, there are voices like that in every arena all over the country, but when the maximum attendance at your “home base” is about a thousand, those biased, counter-programming voices are heard louder and clearer.
That said, I agree that a little bit more in-ring action would be a good thing.
