TNA’s Position As World’s #1 Wrestling Promotion Cemented

As we reported previously World Wrestling Entertainment has actually harassed mainstream press writers about referring to the WWE Hall of Fame as a “wrestling” Hall of Fame. Going so far as to try and retrain the press to not call it wrestling.

Now several reports are going around the wrestling dirt sheet world(and these are often incorrect) that suggest WWE is taking this a step further. While the company policy for years has been to refer to the wrestlers as Superstars and the product as Sports Entertainment apparently it’s about to go to a whole new level of silliness. The reports state that from the top down all talent and employees are forbidden from referring to the company as World Wrestling Entertainment, but simply as WWE Inc. or just WWE.

This is so silly on so many levels. If Vince wants to believe he is simply an entertainment company that is fine, but he is quite insane if he thinks this changes anything or makes sense. Can you imagine the highly successful Law & Order producer Dick Wolfe issuing a statement that he no longer wants the stars of his show referred to as police officers on camera but as Superstars. Or he wants the title of the show changed to Entertainment & Entertainment because he is producing an entertainment show? If Vince really wants to be a Hollywood mogul he needs to wake up and realize if your doing a cop show you feature cops, if your doing a wrestler you feature wrestlers. Changing the name changes nothing except make you look like a fool.
