Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:
The reason for writing “The Road Warriors: Danger, Death, & The Rush Of Wrestling” & the importance of releasing the autobiography now: “The reason for the book was because there were many books in the eight years since Hawk’s passing. I waited until it cleared up a little bit, and then said ‘You know what? It’s time to come out with a different kind of book.’ I did a chronological timeline of our career: from conception, to the trials & tribulations, to the matches & the funny stories about the matches, and what it was like to be behind the scenes.”
His reaction to the recent rumors of him & Hawk being inducted together into the WWE Hall of Fame: “I don’t know man. Have I envisioned it? Yeah. You always want to be in there, and you want to be recognized for your trade. I thought I was going in last year. I thought I was going in the year before that and the year before that. I thought ‘What are they waiting for here?’ But who knows man. Most of the time, the wrestlers are the last ones to find out anything. The thing I know for sure is that I’m going in the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in (Amsterdam) New York in May.”
What he believes is the lasting legacy of The Road Warriors & why he feels that The Legion Of Doom would be ‘extremely successful’ in the industry today: “What we accomplished was that you cannot teach charisma, you cannot teach how to do an interview, you cannot teach mic presence & ring presence, and the natural ability to do things. There’s going to be one Hulk Hogan. There’s going to be one Ric Flair. There’s going to be one Road Warriors. There’s probably only to be one Rock. You’re never going to reinvent those particular characters again. There’s no doubt in my mind that if Hawk & I were to come in fresh today, just on mental attitude & the way we did business, we would be extremely successful today.”
Much more is contained in Road Warrior Animal’s exclusive interview with The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including his candid thoughts & comments on whether or not he was hesitant to create a more modern version of The Road Warriors with Heindenreich, his favorite three teams & best programs while teaming up with Hawk, if he feels there are any tag teams performing today that embody tag team wrestling, how he would market & sell tag team wrestling in 2011, plus so much more!
