Recently on Facebook, Eric Bischoff has been interacting with the folks that post messages to his fan page. Two topics of popular interest that Bischoff commented on include the Bret Hart/Hulk Hogan Twitter war and the number of pay-per-views in sports entertainment. Here are Bischoff’s comments on both topics:
On Bret Hart:
Reader asks: “Curious on your thoughts on the whole Bret Hart thing, with him making ridiculously stupid comments to Hogan via his twitter account? From your experience working with him back in WCW, was he always like this?”
Bischoff responds: “I feel bad for Bret. When he worked for me he hated Vince and blamed him for Owens death. Now he works for Vince and hates Hogan and I. See the pattern here? Bret is a guy that has to “hate” somebody in order to feel significant himself. I respect Bret in many ways and like him, but feel sad for him at the same time.”
On Pay-Per-Views in Professional Wrestling:
Reader asks: “There’s one week until Victory Road with only one official match on the card , There’s one month until Wrestlemania. These feuds don’t feel like Wrestlemania-worthy feuds. Comment on that Bischoff you see now why wrestling need less pay per views..”
Bischoff responds: “Definetly need to drop the number of PPV’s. The business isn’t hot enough to sustain the current number and doing them hurts the long term viability of the category. Worked in the 90s. Not now. Just my personal opinion. It will take balls and vision to change the model.”
