The Washington Post recently ran an article featuring comments from current US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She made some comments which may be of interest to TNA Wrestling fans. From the article:
“Even as it seeks to influence events in Libya and the rest of the Middle East, the United States is losing the crucial war for world opinion, its message distorted by popular culture and drowned out by Arab-language news media, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday.
So warped is the U.S. image in many parts of the world that some people regard the United States as a land of bikini-clad women and professional wrestlers, She recalled meeting an Afghan general whose impressions of Americans had been informed entirely by popular TV shows such as “Baywatch” and pro wrestling.
“The only thing he thought about Americans was that all the men wrestled and the women walked around in bikinis,” she said.”
I’m not going to go on a political rant as this isn’t the proper forum for one. But I do find it disturbing that the Secretary of State would blame image problems on Baywatch and pro wrestling. I would think it would be more constructive use of time to repairing bridges with long time US allies that she has alienated, working on trade deals to strengthen our economy, and maybe finding out where her husband is at night.
US history is littered with politicians making boogeymen out of entertainment industries to cover up for their own lack of achievement. From the Communist hearings on Hollywood to the “Seduction of the Innocent” scare that almost destroyed the comic book industry.
If Hillary is talking to a General who really believes all we do is run on the beach and wrestle maybe she should suggest they get a new General. Then again if that’s all we did, it would be pretty awesome.
Hillary had zero problem campaigning on WWE’s RAW, I guess when you need votes pro wrestling ain’t so bad.

I’m glad people aren’t quick to forget about her appearance on Monday Night Raw, and also the current President Barack Obama.
No wonder Mr. McMahon hates politics
