Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:
How he broke into the wrestling business & which two ROH personalities were the most instrumental in pointing him in the direction of Ring of Honor: “I started wrestling about seven or eight years ago. Just like you see Bob Evans on TV, he started training me when I first started. He ran a school in Long Island, and I broke in with him. For the last seven or eight years, I’ve been in New England wrestling and trying to get my name out there, In that time, I made a connection with Kevin Kelly and formed a good relationship with him. He hooked me up with Jim Cornette and they told me to get the Ring of Honor camp in Philadelphia. I did that, one thing led to another, and they saw something in me.”
What he noticed about the ROH locker room that surprised him the most when he debuted with the company: “The biggest thing that surprised me was the overall passion & desire everyone in that locker room has. From top to bottom, it’s ridiculous how much respect these guys have, not only in their own matches, but for the company as a whole. They don’t go out there to make themselves look good, but they go out there to make their opponent look good and to make the company look as good as possible. It’s a team effort.”
Who he would like to square off with as part of his future in Ring of Honor: “I think (Steve) Corino would be there. Christopher Daniels definitely, because the guy has done anything & everything in the wrestling world. And Eddie Edwards, because I’ve known Eddie since he started. Him & I both come from Massachusetts, and I’ve know him for a long time. The way he’s progressed, going to Japan & coming back, and seeing the level of success he’s had is kind of nice. If I could follow that path, and if we could meet up, it would be kind of neat.”
