A variety of sources around the interwebs are reporting that during tonight’s iMPACT! tapings the TNA World Heavyweight Championship changed hands. Reports indicate that Sting made his return to TNA Wrestling at the iMPACT! tapings and defeated Jeff Hardy to take possession of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
There is no word on what the crowd reaction was or any other details on the title change. As we get more information about this major news, we’ll report it right here first!

Why? Just… Why? I have read about this earlier, and all I ask TNA is… WHY?! Why was Sting the “most shocking surprise of the year”? Why is Sting now TNA champion? Why the horrid WWE mock-up promo? I understand they wanted to capitalize on Sting’s hype, but was this REALLY that necessary?! I didn’t hope for something big when I heard about a surprise, because I knew TNA would let me down as in the past. But much like the past, we are still living with this “BIGGEST SURPRISE EVER DON’T MISS” B.S.
I mean, what’s the next ground-breaking surprise that will “change the wrestling landscape forever”? Kurt Angle has a hair cut? OJ goes Straight? EY wins the big one? Flair stays clean after getting a beatdown? I’m a BIG TNA fan. I’ll even say I’m a Mark for them at times. But man, TNA really does p*ss me off sometimes. And TNA has only p*ssed me off a couple of times because, unlike the haters, I don’t moan, cry, or bitch about every little thing TNA does.

Guys. I just went on another site and left a rather furious comment stating i was never going back to it because of the spoiler in the title. Now you guys have done it too – thanks for nothing!

The entire internet has this story all over it. By us not naming the specific person who won the specific “major title” that changed hands, we’re simply giving our readers the option to find out for themselves or to not click on the link. Your choice.

Radiitz,
I agree a little bit, while I’m glad Sting is back, it far from shocking.
Gudge,
You’re welcome!

Joe this guy is a bit of a loon. Like you said there are 4 major titles, and if this guy went ahead and clicked on the story to leave a comment he really didn’t mind the change being spoiled anyways.
Gudge says
I’m not really a loon, am I? As my comment said, I was spoiled on another site when that one full on said ‘World Title Change’. My point is that your title of ‘Major Title’ to me suggests the World title, at a push the X division. To say there are 4 major titles is stupid, there are only 5 titles and the TV title might as well be retired. Once we get to the end of impact, its going to be pretty obvious that the title changing hands will definitely be the World title, hance you have given away the spoiler in a title. Now I understand that you think the story is ‘all over the internet’, but I only visit 2 wrestling sites – one being yourselves and the other I have now quit for the above reasons. The fact its being given away on other sites is insignificant to me. Now I also understand that you guys like posting on each others articles since I have read quite a lot of your site, and I see that you want to ‘stick up for each other’ – but all I wrote was ‘Thanks for nothing’. You guys hardly make yourselves look great by calling me a loon for simply stating an opinion that I believe you guys are giving out spoilers. Its not like I was vitriolic to you, is it?
Anyway, I will leave an opinion on the subject matter at hand, being the title going to Sting. I love Sting and I started watching TNA because of him in 2006 after a few years away from wrestling. However, think strikes me as a ploy to get him back to TNA over WWE. In all honesty I think the title should be getting passed around the younger guys, rather than the yearly ‘give it to Stinger because he signed another year’. I dont know how the title change has been written in, personally I would have gone with him being Dixies right hand man to go against Immortal, but now that Immortal consists mainly of jobbers, its not really an interesting feud anymore. I just think TNA has dropped the ball a bit with this. I would have been much more interested in a build to a King of the Mountain match with Hardy, Angle, Anderson, AJ and Jarrett – which to be honest looked likely with the story being where it was.

I would suggest that you hardly make yourself look great by suggesting “you guys” called you a loon. William has an opinion and he presented it in the opinions area of this particular article.
For better or for worse, TNAStars.com exists out there in the larger wrestling world. So believe me that I thank you for including us within your two wrestling websites that you visit daily (I’m the same way – I visit this site and one other site each day to see what’s going on – that’s it), but we have to report what’s going on in the promotion since our fan base is exposed to what’s going at every level of the industry. We try to be different by reporting truth as truth, rumor as rumor, and opinion as opinion.
On the topic of TNA Wrestling’s World Heavyweight Championship – I couldn’t agree more. I’d be happy if AJ Styles was still the champion and battling it out with the younger group of performers in the promotion. However, I’m an admitted mark for Eric Bischoff so I have to believe that he’s leading us to a greater payoff with the World Heavyweight Championship and that the “payoff” is going to be one of the younger guys leading the promotion forward. At least I hope so!
