The gang over at the Torch is reporting that last week’s episode of iMPACT! picked up another 100,000 viewers after DVR replays were added into last week’s overall viewership. For comparison’s sake, last week’s show averaged about 1,386,000 viewers without the DVR+3 numbers added. After adding in the DVR viewership, the final television audience for last week’s show was 1,486,000.
As I mentioned on one of the comments to one of these entries, no one ever takes into account the online viewing public since those numbers are hard to substantiate with respect to individual viewers (then again, the Nielson rating system is abysmal anyway). For example, as of this entry’s publication, the Spike.com version of last week’s show has 37,000 views. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get a full review of the total viewership for these shows one day.
Anyway, after adding in the 100,000 additional viewers from DVRs we can project that last week’s rating may have been as high as a 1.08. In fact, if you want to be really silly and add in the extra 37,000 Spike.com viewers, you could project a 1.10 rating. But that projection, of course, makes no sense since if people are watching online they’re obviously not watching on television or via their DVRs! The point, though, is that more people are watching iMPACT! (and probably all professional wrestling programming) than these ratings show.
