In a recent interview with Geek Week, Mick Foley alludes to possibly leaving TNA Wrestling once his contract expires in 2011. He cites frustrations with the internal structure at the company and made some comparisons to the way WCW was organized.
The interview is pretty entertaining, so I suggest watching it. However, I wouldn’t read too much into Foley’s comments. His contract is too far from being expired and during his last two contract renewals (once with WWE and once with TNA Wrestling) he’s had this same, “I don’t care. I’ll leave.” attitude. It’s pretty common for folks who believe they are worth a lot of money and attention to act this way and there’s a strong argument to be made both for and against Foley’s position.

Mick I think feels out of the mix like a lot of past their prime stars without egos often feel. He likely doesn’t want to stick around if he feels he isn’t need/wanted.
I disagree with his disapproval of TNA not airing his appearance at the Jon Stewart rally. There is actually likely very good reason didn’t. Even though the rally claimed otherwise it really was a politically charged event and TNA likely wants to remain neutral in such things as they are an entertainment company and it’s supposed to be an escape. TNA did give it a brief plug on their site and I think that was enough.

Although I respect your opinion William, I think maybe TNA should have aired something about Foley at the ralley. Any press is good press. And if they can have Daffney on TV for weeks on end as a blatant Sarah Palin ripoff, then I think airing a 1-minute video package wouldn’t have hurt. That’s just my opinion though. Maybe they saw the negative responses WWE got from Linda’s senate run and were playing it safe?
I do agree that maybe Foley feels out of the mix. When he came in, he was the only “huge multi-company” name aside from a few like Kurt Angle. Then suddenly there’s Hogan, Bischoff, Nasty Boys, Rob Van Dam, Ric Flair, Tommy Dreamer, ect. Foley wasn’t really the main character anymore, and although this might sound like typical Hogan bashing, when he can’t physically wrestle and is a part of your company, he’s getting an authority role. So someone who also can’t wrestle much and played an authority role like Foley really has numbered days. Especially when people who have not had a very positive past with Foley are around like Flair & Bischoff.

You make some good points even if I disagree. I don’t think the Palin angle was well received. Also I don’t think TNA airing clips of Foley on appearing another program would get them press. Now if TNA had Stewart present an on air message on their program that may get some press.
On the subject of Mick wanting TNA to air his clips, I cannot recall any mainstream media appearance where he plugged TNA on Spike. I admit I have not seen all of them but the ones I saw he didn’t plug them. It seems to me plugging TNA on mainstream shows would give TNA more press than plugin the Daily Show on iMPACT!.
