Earlier today, I received a note from one of the readers of this website asking about whether or not there was any new information on the next TNA Wrestling video game. I don’t have any information on the next video game – all I know is that SouthPeak Interactive Corporation acquired the TNA iMPACT! video game license a number of months ago.
I also know that SouthPeak has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride lately given the mixture of a turbulent stock price and some lawsuits that were filed against the company.
If anyone out there has any information on when TNA Wrestling fans might expect to hear new information about the next video game in the iMPACT! series from SouthPeak or another video game developer, please share that information with the group. Thanks!

I emailed South Peak today and received a quick response, unfortunately it was basically a no comment,

I did a column on this a while back. I could find next to nothing as far as solid confirmation…basically info from sites like wikipedia, which are “trust at your own risk” sources. But from what I gathered, SouthPeak wanted to come out with a new game by next year and take a cue from the SvR franchise by titling it “TNA iMPACT 2012”. Who knows. I would like to have seen what Rockstar would have done with the franchise. I had never heard of South Peak until they acquired the TNA rights. Nothing against South Peak but it would be great if TNA could get on with an established and finacially stable company.
I also would have liked to see Rockstar take a crack at the franchise. Too bad they didn’t get the license. I looked into South Peak (a lot) with respect to whether or not I would want to invest in them since they’re a penny stock and I like investing in penny stocks. But the company is so volatile that it’s not really worth the eventual loss.
