Last Friday we reported that last week’s episode of iMPACT! realized an 18% drop in its week-to-week rating by scoring a final cable rating of 1.16. This cable rating represented about 1,506,000 viewers throughout the night.
We are now able to report the hourly ratings for last week’s episode of iMPACT!. The first hour scored a final cable rating of 1.18 while the second hour scored a final cable rating of 1.14.
Typically, this isn’t the type of hourly progression that one would want to see on a wrestling show since it shows a declining audience over the course of the show. However, the impact (pardon the pun) of the other shows playing at this time on other cable channels cannot be understated. For example, during last week’s episode of iMPACT!, MTV was featuring the final episode of its wildly popular Jersey Shore show at the 10:00pm EST hour. Though we don’t know the full demographic trends of last week’s ratings for both Spike TV and MTV, there is a good chance that some of the folks who were watching iMPACT! decided to flip over and watch the Jersey Shore.
In any event, TNA Wrestling will certainly seek to push its cable ratings a little bit higher with this week’s show. In the mean time, why not head over to our Ratings War area to check out the ratings history for TNA Wrestling’s current Thursday night run as well as its head-to-head Monday night run. Enjoy!

I still don’t see the mass appeal of Jersey Shore…
