The latest Observer newsletter contains a small portion of text where Dave Meltzer speculates on Sting’s future with TNA Wrestling. Please be aware that the information below is nothing but speculation on any number of fronts (Sting’s shoulder still being injured, the amount of money he makes per year, his concern or lack thereof for the WWE Hall of Fame, etc). Below is part of Meltzer’s opinion piece where he speculates on Sting’s future.
The month of October has once again spurred the annual discussion of Sting’s future with TNA Wrestling with his deal set to expire at the end of this year. As with the last few years, Sting comes in mentally prepared to have it be his final year until Dixie Carter talks him into committing for one more year. What might be interesting about this year are two factors: the fact that Sting reportedly has less interest now than he ever has about going another year and the looming possibility of an involvement with WWE next year for the Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania 27 weekend in Atlanta.
Sting is expected to be offered his usual $500,000 a year deal and has always worked limited dates for TV tapings and PPV events (he never works house shows), so most feel it will be pretty hard to turn down. He has been bothered all year by a nagging shoulder injury, thus limiting what he can do in the ring. Most feel if he doesn’t re-sign with TNA that he will be invited to be part of next year’s WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011 with Wrestlemania 27 being held in Atlanta and the Hall of Fame carrying on a “past WCW stars” theme. One source close to Sting added however that the WWE Hall of Fame is almost a non-factor to him in his decision to stay or leave TNA and is not someone who cares about the Hall of Fame.

Sting in the WWE Hall of Fame has always divided people. In recent years the WWE has tried to become the “Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame”, adding both wrestlers who have not worked for WWE as well as “celebrities”. If Sting wanted the honor, I would say he should not sign with TNA at the end of this year, do the Hall of Fame thing in WWE, and then resign with TNA for a final year for a great send off along the lines of what WWE did with Ric Flair. I’ve always been a Sting fan, so the day he hangs up the boots will be a sad one for me. Yes, he’s not as mobile as he once was but like with Flair, I take what I can get from the two and enjoy every second their on my TV.

You have a good perspective on this, Dillon. However, I was thinking that this could go a different way…
What if WWE put Sting in the Hall of Fame while he was still signed with TNA Wrestling? They’re publicizing Mick Foley’s new book when he’s actively involved in TNA storylines – why not extend that same respect to Sting (or Kevin Nash for that matter) and put him in the Hall of Fame while they’re in Atlanta? Hey, Vince McMahon always says to never say never when it comes to the WWE, right?

I would hate to see him leave . But at the same time he has done a lot for the wrestling world . He carried the wcw banner nwa in its lates few years before it went wcw. I think a year in the wwe would not be a bad thing but i do not know if he could or would want to do that . Anyway he is a Hall Of Fame and should be so. I alays liked him . I know most of the wrester are friends and would love to here what they would say about Sting .
