The folks at TNAWrestling.com have once again posted their top 5 impacts from this week’s episode of TNA iMPACT! Typically, these are the top 5 events that the writers at TNA want you to remember going into the coming week of wrestling news and events. You can read this week’s top 5 impacts below, though it looks like the number impact moment was (of course) the show-ending brawl between the former ECW talent and the current TNA roster.
THE TOP 5 BIGGEST IMPACTS FROM TNA “iMPACT!”
by Jody Logan
Each week, TNAwrestling.com will look at the five moments from “iMPACT!” that had the biggest impacts on TNA Wrestling. We will break each situation down and let you know what to expect next week.
5. The Mystery Remains
The Beautiful People and the Knockouts Title remain in a state of disarray as of Thursday night. Madison Rayne came out to the iMPACT! zone to demand that “her title” be returned around her waist in seven days or she would sue the company. Following that announcement, Velvet Sky and Lacey Von Erich stormed the ring. Velvet made it very clear that she was furious with Rayne for not consulting her about bringing in the help of the mystery woman from Victory Road. Knockout’s Champion Angelina Love then hit the stage to accuse Velvet of being the mystery woman herself. Velvet, disgusted, told Love that Rayne was all her’s and then promptly left the iMPACT! zone. Following that exchange, Love and Rayne began to brawl. During the brawl, the mystery woman arrived in the iMPACT! zone riding her motorcycle. She assisted Rayne in beating down Angelina Love. After the beat down, the two left together once again.
4. Kendrick Proves he’s Capable
After engaging in a very physical match on Sunday, Brian Kendrick and Douglas Williams would once again face off on iMPACT! Thursday night. This time though, it would be about personal vendettas and not X-Division Titles. The match was a non-title “I Quit” match. Douglas and Kendrick went at it, letting their emotions spill into the action. It was evident from the first punch thrown that this match was personal. In the end, Kendrick hooked in the Cobra Clutch and not only made Williams scream “I Quit”, but also made the Englishman tap out.
3. Snake in the Grass or New Found Friend?
Just two weeks after The Pope made it clear that he thinks Mr. Anderson is just a “snake in the grass, waiting to strike”, Mr. Anderson came to The Pope’s aid and possibly saved his career. Pope pulled a quick victory over a shocked Matt Morgan on Thursday night. After the pin fall, Morgan laid out Pope. Morgan then began to set his head up on the ring post and was planning to take him out the same way he put Hernandez on the shelf for three months – a Carbon Footprint into the ring post. Before he could execute the devastating maneuver, Mr. Anderson hit the iMPACT! zone and proceeded to attack Matt Morgan. Afterwards, Mr. Anderson reached for a handshake from Pope, but was only met with a head nod.
2. Beer Money: 1 Motor City: 0
After the controversial finish to the Tag Team Titles match at Victory Road, TNA management made the decision that Beer Money and the Motor City Machine Guns will face off in a best of 5 series for the Tag Team Titles over the next few weeks. The series started this week, as the two teams faced off in a ladder match. The winners would be able to choose the stipulation for next week’s match. One would think that the Machine Guns would have the advantage in a ladder match and technically they were the first ones to climb the ladder to successfully grab the contract. Unfortunately, the referee was down as Sabin clutched the contract in his hands. James Storm took full advantage of the situation by smashing a beer bottle over the back of Sabin’s head. Beer Money then took the contracts into their hands, as the referee finally looked over, and were declared the winners. Beer Money now holds a 1 to 0 lead in the series and will look to make it 2 to 0 next week as they take on the Machine Guns in a street fight.
1. War in the iMPACT! Zone
Abyss called the TNA Heavyweight Champion, Rob Van Dam, out to the ring on Thursday night and informed him that at Hard Justice on August 8, the two of them would meet in the “most extreme match in the history of TNA Wrestling.” The two stars could not wait for Hard Justice, as they began to go at it on iMPACT! In a shocking turn of events, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Stevie Richards, and Rhino all jumped into the ring from the stands to assist RVD in beating down Abyss. As the brawl accelerated, TNA security, management, and wrestlers hit the ring to help in this war. During the chaos, more “extreme” stars hit the ring to help Dreamer & company, including Team 3-D, Al Snow, and even Mick Foley showed his face. Finally, TNA President Dixie Carter put an end to the mayhem, by taking the microphone and announcing that “I invited them.”
