Dillon’s Thoughts: Personally I/m glad to see Abyss revert back to “the monster”. His last incarnation was like John Cena and Mankind had a love child. Nice to see Mr. Anderson in the main event, even if he hasn’t been the major focus of the match. Everyone in the match but him has been a World Champion at some point.
Dillon’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam retains. Something big will go down in this match. Either Anderson will turn on Hardy or “they” will arrive.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Personally TNA booking a Four Way Match right after WWE had a Fatal 4 Way PPV a month ago (and a horrible one in my opinion) it makes me want to tune out. But with the talent in the match, it will be watchable. I’m teetring between Abyss winning and RVD retaining. I guess I have to go with Van Dam this month, but if they keep pushing Abyss, not much longer
Jarrett’s Prediction: Van Dam retains
Joe’s Thoughts: This is the type of match where almost anything can happen. I think we’re definitely going to see an appearance by the folks that Abyss keeps referring to, but I’m not sure if it’ll help his chances of winning. I think RVD keeps the title because he’s incredibly over at house shows and house shows bring TNA their revenue and merchandise sales.
Joe’s Prediction: Rob Van Dam
William’s Thoughts: This has the makings for a great match. Just a year ago this would have been the makings of a WWE PPV main event, these names are that big. It’s really amazing how far TNA has come as far as big name talent. TNA has always had big talent that hasn’t had the household name value. The weakest link skill wise in this match in my opinion is Anderson and he is a damn good wrestler. Should be top notch. There has to be a heel turn, my money is with Hardy. Hardy also takes the match.
William’s Prediction: Jeff Hardy
Eddie’s Thoughts: This should be a good match, as most TNA main events have been consistent.
Eddie’s Prediction: RVD
TNA X-Division Championship
Ultimate X Match
Douglas Williams vs. Brian Kendrick
Dillon’s Thoughts: I’m a fan of Douglas and his anti-high flying stance in the X-Division. And it’s nice to see Brian Kendrick get a chance to rise. Still, having an X-Division Champion who does not perform as fans expect for too long can get old fast.
Dillon’s Prediction: Kendrick gets the win. However if I were booking, I would have Kendrick climb the ladder and have victory in his hands, yet he climbs back down, determined to make Douglas tap out and lose by his own rules. Douglas lowblows him, races up the ladder and retrieves the X.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Ultimate X with a submission stipulation is stupid to me because it basically takes away the Ultimate X part of it because it is unnecessary.
Jarrett’s Prediction: Brian Kendrick wins the title
Joe’s Thoughts: I haven’t seen an Ultimate X match in a while so if I get a chance to watch this pay-per-view, then I’ll be looking forward to this particular match especially. Hey, this is the show opener, by the way. I’ve not really been following this feud, though with Williams signing a long-term contract recently, I have to imagine that he’s going to have his push continued.
Joe’s Prediction: Douglas Williams
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Kendrick
Eddie’s Thoughts: Should be good.
Eddie’s Prediction: Douglas Williams
Dillon’s Thoughts: Should be a great match as both ladies are great workers. Still, the goings on in the division lately have bothered me. No Hamada, the releasings of Kong, ODB, Roxxi, Tara. But I’m still happy to see Angelina back. I would rather watch Rayne & Love play chess than a “match” by some “divas”.
Dillon’s Prediction: Angelina gets the win, some vindication, and a pretty Knockouts Title belt. I *hope* that the win comes via Tara (and hopefully Roxxi) costing Rayne the title and rejoin the company.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: TNA has ruined the result of this so bad, and it’s all their fault. Everyone knows that Angelina Love isn’t going to retire, and Rayne being stripped of the title and rewarded to Angelina Love if Lacey Von Erich or Velvet Sky interferes guarantees at least one of them will
Jarrett’s Prediction: Angelina Love for the win
Joe’s Thoughts: Much like the Angle vs. the Top Ten Contenders storyline, you can pretty much guess how this one is going to end. Angelina Love is way over and she’s clearly not giving up her career so Madison Rayne is dropping the strap. That is, of course, unless we get some completely unnecessary swerve from Russo, which would be as dumb as making this a title vs. career match.
Joe’s Prediction: Angelina Love
William’s Thoughts: One of the best built feuds in TNA at this time, long logical build. There is no way Love leaves town though.
William’s Prediction: Angelina Love
Eddie’s Thoughts: Will probably/hopefully be kept short.
Eddie’s Prediction: Madison Rayne
Dillon’s Thoughts: These two teams have had some excellent matches in the past, and TNA is still the place to go for great tag team wrestling. Beer Money is the best team in the world right now and the MMG are the most deserving of not only that title as well, but the gold straps.
Dillon’s Prediction: As great as Beer Money are, it’s most definitely past due for the MMG to be TNA Tag Champions. Tonight the bring the gold back to Detroit.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I honestly think it would be a stupid decision not to give the Guns the title. They are a talented tag team. I think TNA should have more homegrown talent and the tag team division is no different. We’ve seen 3D and Beer Money or some other thrown together team as tag champs for some time, so I’m rooting for the Machine Guns to win their first TNA Tag Team Title
Jarrett’s Prediction: Machine Guns for the win
Joe’s Thoughts: The Guns were getting a push before The Band broke up so I’m guessing that the push continues with a win over an eerily quiet Beer Money.
Joe’s Prediction: Motor City Machine Guns
William’s Thoughts:
William’s Prediction: Beer Money
Eddie’s Thoughts: Really looking forward to this one. Should be good.
Eddie’s Prediction: MCMG
Dillon’s Thoughts: I was a fan of Hernandez the singles star, even if they didn’t push him as much as I would have liked. And Morgan is an inch away from being a World Title contender.
Dillon’s Prediction: I see either Hernandez getting the win, or Homicide somehow joining in (the match may be thrown out and we just get a beating) as we get the newly reformed LAX vs. Morgan.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Hopefully Morgan won’t get his gear stolen again so they won’t have to do another doctors excuse angle. It will be interesting to see this match personally because we haven’t technically seen a singles match between these two yet. I’m going to have to go with my gut and pick Morgan to upset Hernandez
Jarrett’s Prediction: Morgan wins
Joe’s Thoughts: This feud has almost been going on in the background of TNA (speaking of stuff in the background, where has the Global Champion been? Or Orlando Jordan for that matter?). Matt Morgan won last month’s match between these two and he’s been running away from Hernandez so I have to imagine that the steel cage means that Hernandez gets the win and his revenge.
Joe’s Prediction: Hernandez
William’s Thoughts: Hernandez is out for blood. He has the experience, skill and intensity advantage. I’m hoping he brings something out of Morgan that elevates his game. Potential only carries you so far, it’s time for Morgan to step it up and become a legitimate player.
William’s Prediction: Hernandez
Eddie’s Thoughts: I am not sure where this storyline has taken Morgan in TNA.
Eddie’s Prediction: Matt Morgan
Ric Flair vs. Jay Lethal
Dillon’s Thoughts: Great to see Ric Flair doing what he loves, critics be damned. And great that he’s mixing it up with one of the most under-rated stars in TNA, Jay Lethal. I’m interested in seeing where Lethal goes after this feud. He should be the next AJ Styles in my opinion.
Dillon’s Prediction: When was the last time Ric won a singles match? Lethal wins. Again, if I were booking, I’d have Jay win, and Flair be impressed and try (over the coming weeks) to turn Lethal heel and join Fortune. And possibly beat him down ala Sting in the Four Horsemen.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: I honestly think that Flair and Hogan wrestling (if It has to happen) should be for big feuds and only on PPV. Flair is great on the mic and made this feud entertaining to say the least. I think that Flair and Hogan should be special attractions and when they come out and are on TV it means something. That’s all a legend should hope for and I’m glad at least Flair is treated like that. Honestly Hogan should be the same way, but that’s an argument for another place and time
Jarrett’s Prediction: I think that Lethal will win this
Joe’s Thoughts: There have been a LOT of strong promos between these two men and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching their entire feud. However, I guess all good things must come to an end and this feud is culminating tonight.
Joe’s Prediction: Jay Lethal gets the victory and the Ric Flair rub
William’s Thoughts: I really hope this isn’t a one off match. This feud needs to carry a few months. Flair should win, and Lethal should be on a chase for redemption.
William’s Prediction: Flair
Eddie’s Thoughts: While I don’t think TNA is using Ric Flair right, I believe this has been a great program mostly because of the two personality involved. They lucked into something great here. My gut feeling is that Flair would push for and want to do the job, but I don’t know if management will let him.
Eddie’s Prediction: Jay Lethal
Brother Ray vs. Jesse Neal vs. Brother Devon
Dillon’s Thoughts: Interesting. The Dudleys in the WWE got stale pretty fast, but in TNA they’ve managed to give them different things to do every few months to, for me at least, keep the team relevant. Jesse Neal is getting a rub but its hard to take him seriously as the badass he’s suppose to be if he’s the pity magnet he’s been built up for in this angle.
Dillon’s Prediction: Tough one to call. Part of me wants to say Neal will win by pinning DVon, angering him because he defended Neal. The other part of me wants to say its a swerve and it will be Team 3D vs. Neal. They surely cant break up Team 3D on the heels of the rumored ECW revival in TNA. I’ll go with Neal to win.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: If Team 3D breaks up I will be pissed because (in my opinion) WWE proved that Team 3D don’t work well as single wrestlers. I think personally this will lead to another heel turn for the 23x tag team champs
Jarrett’s Prediction: Brother Ray picks up the win
Joe’s Thoughts: I’ve never been a big fan of Team 3D and I’ve said many times that these guys aren’t deserving of the praise that they get (in Scott Steiner’s words, “Who have you beaten?”). That said, the Jesse Neal storyline has been mildly entertaining, but only because of Jesse Neal and NOT because of Team 3D.
Joe’s Prediction: I don’t even know…Brother Ray, I guess?
William’s Thoughts: Neal bores me, I find him to vanilla of a character. At the same time I’m bored with 3-D’s shtick as well. I hope something happens in this match to really shake things up. Personally this one of my least favorite matches on the card.
William’s Prediction: Neal
Eddie’s Thoughts: Ugh.
Eddie’s Prediction: Jesse Neal
Kurt Angle vs. D’Angelo Dinero
Dillon’s Thoughts: This match alone should be worth the price of the PPV. Still it bothers me that the TNA ranking system is coming back to bite them. Angle is on a quest that cannot end so soon. Pope is probably the hottest rising star in TNA, so it bugs me that his first match back will be (a loss) against Kurt Angle. Still, I badly want to see the quality match they put on. I’m just not digging Pope losing on his first match back.
Dillon’s Prediction: Obviously Kurt Angle gets the win. I have a feeling this match will be like Angle vs. Morgan from last year, as in Angle wins but his opponent will come out a much bigger star.
Jarrett’s Thoughts: Thoughts? Another obvious match. Kurt Angle isn’t retiring anytime in the near future and I think that would be saved for Bound for Glory (And personally I would think that Angle would face AJ Styles or Desmond Wolfe when that happens)
Jarrett’s Prediction: Kurt Angle wins, no brainer
Joe’s Thoughts: While I appreciate the “Kurt Angle takes on all of the contenders!” storyline, it’s a bit formulaic. I mean, don’t we all know who is going to win these matches since Angle keeps talking about how each match might be his last?
Joe’s Prediction: Kurt Angle
William’s Thoughts: Should be great. I talked earlier about game elevation. The Pope already has a good game, now he faces a rested and hungry Kurt Angle. Angle’s contract is coming up and he will want to prove to WWE and TNA he still has the awe factor. I look for this to be the top match of the night. Look for the Pope to become a name not only in TNA fans eyes but the wider pro wrestling community’s as well.
William’s Prediction: Angle
Eddie’s Thoughts: As goofy as TNA’s always-changing Ranking System is, it gets even goofier when Kurt Angle vows to defeat all guys ahead of him. While it obviously makes no sense, at least we’ll probably get some decent matches out of it. I hope Angle carries Dinero to a good bout here.
Eddie’s Prediction: Kurt Angle
