In his latest Q&A on his BBQ blog, Jim Ross gives his thoughts on Vince Russo’s contribution to the WWE Attitude Era:
“Yes…Vince Russo played a significant role in the success of the Attitude Era of WWE back in the day but everything and I mean every thing that appeared on TV was vetted and approved by the Chairman of the Board. Everything. The talent roster wasn’t bad either if you will pardon me while I pat myself on the back (Thanks, Gorilla.) But Russo should be given his due in all fairness.”
A fair evaluation in my opinion by Good Ol’ J.R.. The WWE of that era was a perfect storm of talent, hunger, and new, exciting ideas. TNA has talent and hunger, but Russo and company haven”t been able to squeeze out that magic that the Attitude Era had, but if you remember it did take a few years for the WWE to get to that point post-Hogan as well.
