– The 2010 Slammiversary pay-per-view opens with a video package looking at TNA’s growth since the first Slammiversary pay-per-view eight years ago. We have comments from Dixie Carter, Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan. The video hypes tonight’s matches and here we go.
– The pyro goes off inside Orlando’s iMPACT Zone as Mike Tenay welcomes us to Slammiversary 2010, which is TNA’s eight-year anniversary.
Kurt Angle vs. Kazarian
Out first for tonight’s opening contest is Kazarian. His opponent, Kurt Angle, is out next to a massive pop from the iMPACT Zone fans. The bell rings and the crowd is really into this one, chanting Angle’s name.
They lock up and Angle takes Kaz down. More Angle chants. Shoulder block to Kaz and he hits a couple arm drags. Arm bar on Kaz and he’s down. USA chants. What’s that about? Kaz runs the ropes then Angle slams Kaz in a corner. Kaz comes back with a flying dropkick off a corner. One German suplex to Kaz, then another. Before the third Kaz mule kicks. Brian Hebner about DQ’d Kaz but Angle stopped him. Kaz back on Angle hard in a corner.
Outside and Kaz in control. Back in with a leg drop over the top on Angle. Still more chants for Angle. Angle up and fights back. Backbreaker to Kaz out of nowhere. Angle into a corner and then a hard clothesline when Angle comes out. Kaz chokes Angle. Front facelock on the mat to Angle. more USA chants.
A release German lands Kaz hard, both down. Punches back and forth. Clotheslines and then back body from from Angle. Kaz in a corner, gets foot up. Belly to belly to Kaz for two. Kaz out of an Angle slam. spinning neckbreaker to Angle.
Powerbomb, then ankle lock on Kaz for two. Dropkick to Angle for two. Kaz climbs, but Angle runs up and send Kaz flying. Angle still only gets two on Kaz. ‘This is awesome’ chants. Angle gets the ankle lock Kaz, kicks out. Kaz sent to the apron but comes back over with a slingshot DDT for two. Kaz gets Angle up, but Angle grabs the ropes and free. German on Kaz. The second German. Angle holds on and hits a third, but still holds on! A fourth German on Kaz and the straps are down.
Kaz out of the ankle lock and hits his piledriver on Angle, but doesn’t get the three. Kaz hits a clothesline but only gets another two. Kaz springboards, but Angle kicks him in flight. Angle slam, but only a two count. ‘Angle slam’ chants. Angle climbs but Kaz climbs and powerbombs. Kaz uses the ropes and Brian catches him, stops the count. Angle set up fort he finisher again, Angle reverses out into the ankle lock. Angle’s whole body in and Kaz Taps.
Winner: Kurt Angle
– We go to Mike Tenay and Taz. Taz thanks TNA’s employees and runs down a huge list.
TNA X-Division Championship
Douglas Williams vs. Brian Kendrick
We go to the ring for tonight’s X Division Title match and out comes the challenger, Brian Kendrick. Out next is the TNA X Division Champion, Douglas Williams. The bell rings and here we go.
I missed the first part of this match. Backdrop style suplex on Kendrick outside. Williams rolls in and then back out to break the count. Chinlock on Kendrick in the ring. Kendrick fights back with punches, but Williams hits a fallaway slam for two. Backbreaker on Kendrick and then Williams rolls Kendrick up in a bow, but Kendrick free and pins for one. Williams works the crowd. Front facelock on Kendrick.
Kendrick hung up on the ropes, but then comes back by flying out onto Williams. Kendrick up and flies with a dropkick. A splash in a corner, then a shining wizard and a flying knee to Williams for two. Williams again rolled up for two. Williams sends Kendrick into a corner,t hen kicks his leg hard, but it looked like a low blow. Kendrick for the sunset, Williams drops down for two. High knee to Kendrick in a corner, then a couple suplexes. Another suplex and Williams pinned for two.
Kendrick slapped Williams, then bit his wrist. Williams up and hits a tornado DDT on Kendrick for three.
Winner: Doug Williams
– We go backstage with Christy Hemme, talking to Eric Bischoff and Miss Tessmacher. Bischoff says he thinks Sting has his own agenda and doesn’t have the best interests of TNA on his mind. Bischoff puts over Rob Van Dam and says he’s excited about the main event tonight.
Up next is tonight’s Knockouts Title Match. Out first comes the challenger, Roxxi, to a nice pop. The TNA Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne is out next to a decent reaction. Madison takes the mic before the bell rings and the crowd boo’s her. Madison says The Beautiful People have been dominating for two years while Roxxi has popped in and out of the company whenever she feels like it. The crowd is chanting for Madison’s mic to be cut off. Madison says Roxxi popped in this time and was handed a title shot. Madison says she is putting her title on the line and asks Roxxi to put her career on the line, like Tara did. Madison taunts Roxxi, waiting for an answer. Roxxi says “you want my career, you…” and Madison decks her in the head with the microphone. Madison with a quick 2 count. It looks like Roxxi’s career is on the line here and she’s busted open.
Roxxi hit some shots, but was knocked to the floor by Rayne. Roxxi was quickly becoming a bloody mess. Roxxi got on the apron and shoulderblocked Rayne, then rammed her into the turnbuckles. Roxxi went to climb the ropes, but Rayne yanked her into the ring and got a near fall. Rayne put Roxxi in an armbar, but Roxxi fought out of it. Roxxi hit an enzugiri, then a series of forearms. Roxxi hit a running elbow and a kick to the chest, then a fallaway slam. Roxxi hit a spinebuster for a two count. Rayne reversed an armbar and went for her finisher, but Roxxi blocked it and hit the hammerlock spinebuster. Rayne rolled to the floor. Roxxi went outside, tossed Rayne back in. As Roxxi was getting back in, Rayne kicked her and hit her neckbreaker on the knee for the win at the five minute mark.
Winner: Madison Rayne
– After the match, the referee helps a bloody Roxxi out of the ring as Madison taunts her. It looks like Roxxi’s career is over here in TNA, again. The crowd chants her name as she walks up the ramp, crying and bloody.
Brother Ray vs. Jesse Neal
We get a video package for the next match and out comes Jesse Neal. He takes a mic and calls out Brother Devon to the ring. We end up with Team 3D in the ring with Shannon Moore and Neal. Ray says he owes everyone standing in the ring an apology. The crowd chants for tables and there’s some stalling here. Ray says Shannon was right last week, he (Ray) has been acting like a bully and a douchebag. Ray says Devon has talked some sense into him the past few days. Ray apologizes to Jesse for how he’s been treating him. Ray puts over Jesse. Shannon gets upset and leaves the ring as Ray continues to apologize. Team 3D raise Jesse’s arms and they leave the ring together. When they get on the ramp, Bubba turns around and decks Jesse. Bubba brings Jesse back to the ring. Devon is pissed as Ray tells the referee to have him removed. The bell rings and here we go. Ray unloads on Jesse now.
Brother Ray kicked Neal. Moore was watching from the stage. Devon yelled “This isn’t over” as security walked him off. Ray dropped some elbows on Neal, then ripped off Neal’s shirt and chopped his chest. Brother Ray just mauled Neal, hanging him in the Tree Of Woe and slapping him. Ray pulled Neal off the ropes with a neckbreaker. Brother Ray ripped the dog tags off Neal, said “Your best friend’s dog tags? Ha!” and chopped Neal on the chest. Neal fired back with some shots, building momentum. Ray reversed a whip, but Neal jumped on the ropes and hit a flying bodypress, then slammed Ray with a belly to belly suplex. Brother Ray avoided a punch and hit a Bubba Bomb full-nelson slam, then chopped him in the back.
Tommy Dreamer, to a huge ovation, started walking down the steps in the stands. Brother Ray was on the middle rope, then stopped and stared at Dreamer, who did his crucifix pose. There was an “ECW” chant. Dreamer moved into the crowd, and posed again. Jesse Neal charged Brother Ray, who kicked him down. Brother Ray went for the second rope senton, but Neal moved out of the way. Neal hit Brother Ray with the spear for the pin at the four minute mark.
Winner: Jesse Neal
– After the match, Neal celebrates in the ring while Ray is shocked. Tommy Dreamer makes his way through the crowd and it looks like to the backstage area.
– We go backstage with Christy Hemme and Hernandez. Hernandez says he’s been sitting at home for three months because of Matt Morgan putting him out. Hernandez says he got a taste of Morgan on iMPACT and tonight, he’s going for the whole damn meal.
Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez
We go to the ring and out comes Matt Morgan, dressed in street clothes and a neck brace. Morgan takes the mic and says with deep regret, he has to be the one to tell everyone that he won’t be performing tonight. Morgan says it’s all Hernandez’s fault for attacking him on iMPACT. Morgan pulls out what he says is a doctors note. The referee looks at it and seems confused. Morgan tells his fans what he will be back soon. Morgan goes walking up the ramp when Hernandez’s music hits and out he comes. Hernandez throws Morgan into the ring and the bell rings.
Hernandez chokes Morgan on the ropes, then with Hernandez’s shirt. Brian yells at Hernandez. Shoulders to Morgan’s gut in the corner. Hernandez chokes Morgan with his foot. Brian drags Hernandez back. Hernandez picks Brian up and sit him up top in a corner. Morgan begs for Hernandez not to touch him, then Morgan pulls the rope down, sending Hernandez outside. Back in the ring, Hernandez into the ringpost a couple times, shoulder first. The third time and Hernandez rolls out. Morgan makes Brian count Hernandez out.
Hernandez takes more abuse in the ring. Back elbows to Hernandez in a corner and Taz says it’s vintage Matt Morgan. Morgan pins for two. Herndandez fights back splashing Morgan in a corner, then a clothesline, then threw Morgan across the ring. Morgan’s shirt ripped off and choking the heck out of Morgan with it. Brian tries to stop the choking. Hernandez throws Brian across the ring. Brian calls for the bell.
Winner by DQ: Matt Morgan
– After the match, Hernandez takes it to the floor and puts Morgan’s arm around the ring post. Hernandez goes to kick his arm into the post but referee Brian Hebner gets in the way and the kick lays him out. Morgan runs to the back. Hernandez briefly checks on Hebner before going to the back also. TNA referees, including Earl Hebner, come out to assist Brian.
– We go backstage with Christy Hemme and Hulk Hogan. Hemme asks Hogan for his thoughts on RVD vs. Sting. Hogan basically puts down Sting and puts over RVD. Hogan says his eyes will be on Sting and the same thing won’t happen tonight that happened with Jeff Jarrett.
Monster’s Ball Match
Abyss vs. Desmond Wolfe
We go to the ring for Monster’s Ball and out comes Desmond Wolfe. Abyss is next out and they waste no time getting started.
Wolfe attacks with a kendo stick, but it went flying. A boot to Wolfe’s head. Abyss with a chair, Wolfe kicked it. Chair wedged into a corner. Wolfe almost into the corner, but then a sideslam from Abyss for two. Abyss goes under the ring and comes out with a chunk of plywood with rolls of barbedwire on it. Wolfe gets back on Abyss in the ring.
Wolfe ended up slamming into the chair head first. Abyss out for more weapons. Wolfe kicks the ropes as Abyss comes back in, into a low blow. A couple trashcan shots to Abyss’ head. Wolfe yells out to Chelsea who wasn’t happy looking. Wolfe pulls a teddy wrapped in barbed out of Abyss’ can. Abyss splashes Wolfe, both got the teddy to the gut. Abyss goes out to give Chelsea the bear. She takes it and looks confused. Abyss goes under the ring and brings out his black bag.
It’s full of broken glass and Wolfe flees from the ring, saying he didn’t sign up for this, dragging Chelsea with him. Abyss goes after them. Chelsea in Abyss’ way and Wolfe attacks with a kendo stick. To the head, then chokes him with it. Abyss stops a kendo hit to the head and chokeslams Wolfe through the floor in front of the announcers. Wolfe is shaking like crazy. Abyss gets Wolfe free and drags him back to the ring. Chelsea is still holding the bear. Abyss pins, Wolfe grabs the ropes to break the count.
Abyss grabs the board with wire. Wolfe is set on the top turnbuckle and Abyss goes up too. Wolfe fights back and Abyss is the one who lands in the wire. Abyss shakes and he’s all sliced open. Wolfe pins Abyss in the wire for two. Wolfe comes with a kendo stick and nails Abyss in the head, then shoulder. Abyss ducks and gets Wolfe up for a shock treatment. Abyss pins for two.
The ending comes when Wolfe asks Chelsea for her purse, looking for the brass knuckles. Wolfe empties her purse out and the knucks aren’t in there. He starts yelling at her. Chelsea throws them over Wolfe and to Abyss. Wolfe turns around to a brass knuckles shot to the head from Abyss. Abyss hits the Blackhole Slam for the pinfall and the win.
Winner: Abyss
– We go backstage with Rob Van Dam and Christy Hemme. RVD has his title belt back. He says he wasn’t going to let Sting’s games get to him and it will be a dark day for TNA if Sting wins. RVD says he has to win tonight for himself, to keep the belt and to win for the fans. RVD talks about how he cares about the TNA Title. RVD says it’s the whole f’n showtime and that’s it.
A.J. Styles vs. Jay Lethal
We get a video package for the next match before AJ Styles makes his way to the ring first. Ric Flair is right behind him. Out next is Jay Lethal to a nice reaction. The bell rings and here we go.
Dueling chants to start the match, but most for Lethal. They dance around a bit. They lock up and push, finally Lethal is backed into a corner. Chop to Lethal rather than a clean break. Bitch slap to AJ. AJ falls down and rolls out. AJ comes back in. Loud dueling chants for both again. Side headlock on Lethal by AJ. Side headlock takeover on Lethal, but then a number of reverses on the mat. AJ in head scissors on the mat. Back to their feet, another side headlock on Lethal. A shot to Lethal’s knee that looked botched. Chops to Lethal from Styles. Monkey flip to AJ who comes back, but then Lethal works over AJ hard. Lethal hits a nice suplex to AJ for a 2 count.
They trade punches back and forth. Backbreaker to AJ for two. A head scissors from Lethal sends AJ flying. He goes out. AJ comes back in while Lethal goes out. Lethal pulls AJ’s foot out from under him and he lands hard outside. Flair helps AJ up, but Earl gets Lethal back in the ring. Lethal drags AJ back in but AJ chokes Lethal in a corner. Chop to AJ. Lethal tries to float over and guts hung up on the top rope in a low blow. Blows to Lethal up there, but he fights back. A big blow and Lethal falls. AJ in control now with a 2 count. AJ is slammed into a corner. Shoulder blocks from Lethal. AJ into a corner, chops to AJ. Kick to AJ’s face for a one count.
Back suplex to Lethal. Punches to Lethal who’s then thrown out. Flair chokes Lethal with his jacket. AJ comes out and nails a chop. Back in the ring and AJ pins for two. AJ’s pissed. Facelock on Lethal in the center of the ring. ‘Lethal’ chants. Lethal elbows AJ in the gut. Elbow to the back of Lethal’s head. Lethal handspring’s back and elbows AJ. Punch to AJ, then into a front facelock. Another punch, then back into the facelock. A couple elbows then a boot to AJ from a corner. Lethal off one corner, then off another. Chop to AJ, then another attack and a Lethal Combination for two.
AJ catches Lethal and takes him down. Flair’s pissed and yells at Earl. Lethal hits a cutter and pins for a long two. Lethal over and kicks at Flair. Rake to Lethal’s eyes. AJ grabs Lethal and locks on the figure four. Lethal to the ropes, Flair hits Lethal’s hands, but he’s free. Brainbuster on Lethal for two. Taz makes a Four Horsemen/Arn comment. AJ Set up the clash, Lethal counters. Full nelson into a suplex. Lethal pins but Flair pulls AJ’s foot under the ropes. Lethal locks the Figure four on AJ. Flair’s going crazy. AJ makes it to the ropes.
Backbreaker to AJ. AJ moves out of the way and delivers a Pele to Lethal. AJ starts climbing but his knee buckles and he hits his mouth. Lethal reverses and pins AJ for three.
Winner: Jay Lethal
– After the match, Ric Flair gets in the ring and he’s pissed with AJ for losing. Kazarian comes down and tries to calm things down. Kaz and Flair leave the ring together while AJ sits in the corner.
– Tenay sends us backstage to Christy Hemme. Sting pops into the camera and says he sent Hemme away because apparently he’s a dangerous man. Sting says he’s going to take the World Title tonight and calls RVD a pawn.
– We go backstage with Christy Hemme, Mr. Anderson and Jeff Hardy. Hardy talks about Beer Money and says nobody has ever carried him in his career. Anderson says they have a big problem… their team doesn’t have a name yet. They come up with Enigmatic Assholes.
Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson vs. Beer, Inc.
We go to the ring and out comes Beer Money first. Mr. Anderson is out next to a nice pop. He cuts a promo and introduces his partner, Jeff Hardy. Out comes Hardy to a nice pop also and here we go.
Anderson and Roode start the match. They circle and lock up, break apart and circle again. ‘Asshole’ chants. More grappling, then Storm tags in for some offense. Then Roode tags on. Hardy tags in and they lock up. Side headlock on Jeff. Shoulder block to Jeff. Storm takes the tag and they double team. Jeff rolls to his corner quickly and they talk. Anderson gives Jeff advice. Storm tags in and Jeff’s on him. Anderson tags in. They double team Storm. Roode rushes in and they double team him. Storm on Anderson in a corner. Anderson comes out punching. Anderson goes to run the ropes, but Roode pulls it down and Anderson flies out to the floor. Roode works on Anderson outside. Anderson comes back in. Roode tags back in and Beer Money double teams. Knee drop to Anderson and Roode pins him for a two count. Storm tags in and we get even more double teaming.
The fans chanting the spelling of as#####. Anderson finally manages to fight back and was able to tag out. Jeff slams Roode down hard but Storm breaks the pin. Anderson in and sent back out fast. Jeff is dropped on his head, but was able to kick out. Roode yells at Jeff to get up. Storm is about to kick Jeff, but Anderson pulls Storm out. Jeff climbs and hits a Swanton. Jeff pins, but Storm pulls referee Slick Johnson out. Anderson’s there and gets in trouble for it. Jeff works over Roode, but Storm in and takes Jeff down. Storm drags Roode over, gets out and tags in. Storm and Roode double teams Jeff. Anderson tries to help but Slick goes crazy, yelling at Anderson. Storm gets Jeff up, tries to get his legs in the ropes and hits a DDT for 2.
Pin on Jeff, but Anderson is in to break the count. Double team on Jeff and they do their Beer Money chant. Roode taunts Anderson and the ref’s distracted. Jeff gets a pin on Storm for two. Roode tags in and gets front facelock on Jeff. Jeff gets up and flies, but Roode isn’t there. Jeff lands hard. Roode yells at Jeff that they’re too smart. ‘Hardy’ chants. Jeff somehow hits a twist of fate. Anderson is reaching for a tag. Anderson and Storm both come in. Anderson’s double teamed, but then takes Roode out, and pins him for two. Storm rushes over and Anderson moves so Storm nails Roode. Storm tossed out, Jeff flies out on him after jumping off of Anderson’s back. Roode nails a spinebuster for two. Jeff breaks it up. Storm get Jeff up. Storm hits the Eye of the Storm on Hardy.
Roode thinks Storm is behind him and goes for a counter to Anderson, but it was Jeff. Anderson takes Roode down with the Mic Check and gets the pinfall and the win.
Winners: Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson
– After the match, a bloody Mr. Anderson announces the winners of the match as “Jeffrey Nero Hardy…Hardy.” Hardy announces the other winner of the match as “Mr. Anderson… Anderson.” Hardy wishes TNA a happy anniversary as his music plays and they celebrate in the ring.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Rob Van Dam vs. Sting
We get a video package for this match with comments from Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan and the two participants. Tenay and Taz run down the tale of the tape. Sting’s music hits and we see him walking down towards the ring from the rafters. Sting brings his baseball bat and gets a nice reaction. We see the TNA World Heavyweight Champion walking backstage as he enters the arena. Rob Van Dam’s music hits and out he comes to the ring. Jeremy Borash does the formal ring introductions and here we go.
They lock up. RVD is backed into a corner. Sting doesn’t give a clean break, punch and a kick. Sting gets RVD out, beats on him, sends him over the fan barrier. RVD starts fighting back. Earl Hebner falls somehow. RVD sends Sting into the wall four times, then another. Sting is down on one knee, holding the barrier. RVD flies over the barrier. RVD calls his letters, jumps onto the barrier and then drops a leg on Sting’s back. Sting walks along the barrier and then RVD hits him a couple more times. RVD rushes Sting. RVD is sent over the barrier, does a handstand on the barrier in the middle, and then lands on his back. Sting goes over and starts throwing RVD into the wall. Twice and Sting had to move fans for more room. A third time, then RVD is dumped over the barrier. Punches back and forth between the two. Back in the ring and Sting stomps RVD. RVD is facing out in a corner and Sting hits a Stinger splash, then another. RVD falls and Sting covers for 2.
Sting applies a chinlock on RVD. RVD elbows out. They’re exchanging punches now. RVD jumps and kicks Sting in the chest with the back of both feet. Punches to Sting, then a clothesline, then another. RVD nails a superkick. RVD calls his letters again. Sting in a corner, RVD punches a couple time. Sting pushes out. RVD with a thrust kick to Sting. RVD hits a split leg moonsault on Sting for two.
Sting backs RVD into a corner and gains a bit of control. RVD comes back up and flies. Earl Hebner’s the one who catches the crossbody and goes down. Sting gets his bat. A couple bat shots from Sting to the gut, one to the back, then one to the back of the leg. Jeff Jarrett comes out and stands behind Sting, grabs the bat, nails Sting with it! Jarrett cracks Sting in the jaw with it. He yells at RVD to cover Sting. RVD hits Rolling Thunder to Sting. RVD pins, Earl Hebner manages to slowly counts, and Sting kicks out.
RVD goes after Sting but he moves. RVD lands in the corner and is tied up. Sting goes after RVD, but misses a splash. RVD takes Sting down and climbs to the top. Five star frog splash and RVD pins Sting for the win.
Winner: Rob Van Dam
– After the match, RVD celebrates with his World Heavyweight Title and the fans to end the show.
