The interwebs are speculating (though reporting it as news) that the reason TNA signed Reid Flair to a road contract is to get Ric Flair to agree to attend some house shows. If this speculation is true, then it represents a shrewd move on the part of TNA. Remember, TNA’s house show business is the most profitable part of its entire operations thanks, mainly, to Don West’s presence at the shows pushing merchandise on the audience. If Don West had a bigger audience to work with at these shows – perhaps a bigger audience that is coming out to see Ric Flair – then the profitability of these house shows might go up even more.
Joe’s Random Comment: If the house show business is booming and Don West is igniting the crowds, then why isn’t TNA taping episodes of iMPACT! during what would traditionally be called “house shows?”
